MOD SUN IN CONCERT:
Mod Sun is short for Modern Sunshine, which in turn is shorthand for Movement On Dreams Stand Under None. With a name like that it comes as no surprise that the rapper's extensive catalog is full of relentlessly sunny tracks that are even more blissful in concert. Influenced by artists as diverse as Kid Cudi, Bob Dylan, and Wu Tang Clan, he describes his music as "hippy hop" - a combination of hip hop music and hippie culture. He refers to his fan base as his "friend base", and keeps that sentiment strong in concert where he interacts with ticket buyers to keep them thoroughly engaged. With standout songs like "No Girlfriend" and "Never Quit" -- an ode to marijuana featuring Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker -- his live shows are happy affairs that suffuse audiences in positive vibes.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Mod Sun, aka Dylan Smith, was raised between Minneapolis with his mother and Long Beach, CA with his father. He started playing drums at age 13 and by 16 was touring with pop punk and post-hardcore bands including Four Letter Lie and Scary Kids Scary Kids. In 2009 he underwent a hip hop metamorphosis and adopted the Mod Sun moniker, releasing his first mixtape Let Ya Teeth Show later that year. He followed up with several mixtapes and EPs over the next few years including fan favorites Blazed By The Bell in 2011 and Happy As F--k in 2012. His unique brand of electro-influenced hip hop has drawn collaborators like G-Eazy, Schoolboy Q, and Shwayze. In 2015 he released his long-awaited debut album Look Up on Rostrum Records, the indie label responsible for launching Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.
I was only there to see Stand Atlantic, so i skated after they played, which was awesome, and a shout out to security for telling those idiot parents to get their 4 and 5 year old off their shoulders and out of the pit...so irresponsible!
One of the best shows I’ve ever been able to attend, will be going again next time he’s in Michigan!
First time I seen him live and tech n9ne said in an interview you can tell if an artist has it or not based on there live performance and mod sun has it bro I’m telling.
It was an amazing experience it’s my second time seeing Mod Sun, and my second time being at the summit. Great venue, great atmosphere, good vibes just an awesome time all around.

We met Mod for the first time, and needless to say that he is an absolute doll! ModSun is such a genuine person that fills my heart with joy. He put on the show of a lifetime, and he really knows how tog eat a crowd going. Him and ForgetBrennan is so talented and fun!!! Can’t forget Kyle, he is badass and knows how to smash the drums!
I wish I could have lived in that moment forever, I was just so happy he put on such an amazing show!

Took my son to his very first concert for his seventh birthday and they put him in the front to have an absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience. Mod Sun's performance was stunning and his line up did phenomenal as well. Would absolutely go again.
Mod Sun is an amazing and passionate performer. If you have the chance to see him, DO IT! My best memories and concerts overall have been MOD SUN shows!
Went to see Palaye Royale last night with my mom, and loved all the openers! My mom absolutely fell in love with MOD SUN, and he said he’ll be going on tour again next year, so I’ll certainly be buying tickets for my mom! It was fun and interactive! We had an amazing time.
He gave an an amazing performance. He truly loves his fans! He even came out and had a meet and greet after the show!
Got a front row seat to the action that is MOD SUN in Dallas last month, this was such an amazing performance I couldn’t get enough, he was even modest enough to walk the grounds at the festival and meet some of his fans (my girlfriend being one of the biggest) it made her entire weekend. The show had so much energy you couldn’t help but to sing your heart out along with the band. Definitely a great experience, will be buying front row tickets for the upcoming show in Nashville in September!
I saw him in Atlanta back in September with Tyler posey and girlfriends and the show was so much fun! I can’t wait to see him again!
I just want 2 say that everyone was so incredibly nice! I was so nervous! I never had a meet & greet before ever & it was so cool 2 have the opportunity! He was so kind & down 2 earth! Along with the whole crew! MOD SUN has been a huge influence on me the past year along with Avril when I was a kid & teen. I loved getting a front row spot & I was blown away by Tyler posey, the girlfriends & MOD SUN & band!!! I rocked & sung my heart out!!! Haven’t felt so alive since my kids were born! This was the greatest live music experience ever. Every artist was so amazing. I love Mod Sun and the entire show put a smile on my face. I could not stop. His energy is infectious. I can not wait for the next album and live shows to come.

Mod Sun is my favorite musician in this world. His music has inspired me to stay positive and to work through all of my hard times. I am an addict in recovery and the fact that he is as well is amazing. I have always dreamed of seeing him live and now I finally have! He is just as great live as he is in the studio. I can’t wait to see him in concert again. He’s smart, talented, and lovely!
Mod Sun put on such a good show! Heaven was big enough so people weren’t on top of each other. But overall that was by far the best concert I have ever been too! Can’t wait to go again!
