    Inimitable

by zeemenace on 6/14/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

Though I have lived in America my whole life and was raised here 100%, I grew up listening to Miyavi (and other J-rock artists), ever since he first debuted in Due le Quartz. Needless to say when I first saw him 2 years ago at the Avalon in Hollywood, I was excited and nervous, not knowing what to expect at all. The 1st time I saw him he brought along a tap dancer and a beatboxer, so the audience was already in for a treat. This time, he opened with his latest single, power-chord heavy "SURVIVE", bringing only a drummer out for the first 3 songs. You realize that Miyavi doesn't need a bassist or another guitarist--he alone can compensate with his god-like abilities on the guitar. He gets the crowd riled up with clapping, screaming, yelling, and loud/catchy guitar rhythms--going to one of Miyavi's live shows is the BEST way to enjoy this artist. Every time he performs, some of his songs sound a little different--they've been rearranged specifically for his live shows, and it's a pleasant surprise once I've deciphered which song it was. I only wish more people showed up to watch this unique performer, because he really is quite like no other performer in the world, and I daresay this as a huge Lady GaGa fan, that his style continues to pleasantly shock me, while his skill as a guitarist continues to blow my mind.

    One of his best ever!

by KimiMYV on 6/14/10CLUB NOKIA - Los Angeles

Miyavi is always great live, but this concert showed how great of a performer he really is. It was Miyavi, his drummer Bobo, and a guy on keyboard. Seriously- he kept the whole crowd fixed on the stage. I didn't see anyone look away once he was on. His voice was awesome, and his guitar skills ....well lets say....are indescribably great. I've seen him live 4 times before this - Miyavi is the best! If you want a good show, great crowd interaction with the artist, and an overall awesome time. Go see Miyavi. He's dedicated to his fans, and shows it by coming all the way from Japan for us.

Miyavi's performance was From the heart.

by Tano on 6/14/10Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

Miyavi's consert was from the heart last night. he played many songs from his full albums "Glayuu", "Miyavizm", and "this izthe Japanese Kabuki Rock". He also did a few songs from his new album that comes out in November. He also did a number that he wrote when his daughter was born. It was a Beautiful song! He did speak in english the majority of the night, saying that he couldnt do what he loves to do with out the fans. He also said that he would be back in Anahime as soon as posible. He also played like he was having fun, jumping around, nocking Kiyashi (the Keybordest) off his keybord and messing around. Overall it was wonderfull night and i would defently go back and see him again.

    Miyavi was amazing.

by Suzettesul on 6/14/10Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

The concert was much better than I anticipated. I had not seen or listened to Miyavi beforehand, so I wasn't sure what to expect. His performance was excellent... The music, his interaction with his fans, his showmanship, etc. I was very pleased with the whole experience. My daughter was truly amazed with his performance, and so grateful for the opportunity to see him in a setting that allowed her to be up as close as she was. I was happy to stay back and watch from a little further back, but still within the front standing area.

    Miyavi - Phenomenal musicianship!

by Onekcrane on 6/14/10Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

I've followed Miyavi's music for the past several years as my daughter is quite the J-rock aficionado. I really enjoy his earlier acoustic stuff...just him and an acoustic guitar. That said, his percussive playing style translates really well to the hollow body electrics he played last night. I've NEVER been to a concert where the performer moves like Miyavi does. I was totally riveted by his style. Couldn't take my eyes off his hands! Simply amazing! His drummer was FANTASTIC as well. That said, it appears Miyavi has added some new English to his vocabulary in the form of the f-bomb. TOTALLY unnecessary, and his frequent use was a turn off and a disappointment for me and my daughter. Also, the mix and volume was such that it was hard to appreciate any nuance of his style that I so enjoy in his recordings. (Typical for a live event to some extent, but I've been to other guitar-oriented live concerts where you could actually hear the detail of the guitar work). My ears are still ringing this morning, but foul language aside, it was a great way to spend an evening with my daughter!

    Miyavi hit Anaheim HARD!

by VisualQ on 6/14/10Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

Miyavi came out screaming and ready to rock, displaying the same energy and rocking stage performance his fans already know and love from him. But he could win over new and old fans alike when he shreds on the guitar. This man really has a lot of skill and deserves every bit of respect for being able to embark on an international tour. He consistently gave props to his amazing drummer, as well as the keyboardist, and we got to see him smiling and interacting with them on stage. The fan interaction was great, he encouraged us all throughout to clap our hands, sing with the music, and just have a frikkin awesome time. At the end, he went along the entire stage from corner to corner and made sure he got up close to everyone he could. The music rocked, there was a perfect balance of head-banging beats and slower sweet songs. There was new stuff, and some older songs too that the fans knew well and would sing along to. In all, Miyavi is absolutely a musician to respect, he rocked it hard, he did amazing, and it makes me proud to be a fan :)

by JRockAddict on 6/14/10Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

It's true, Miyavi simply knows how to entertain his fans very well. This event was one of my most favorites, the performer loves getting involved with the crowd and it makes it fun for everyone. I will definitely come back to another of his lives, this one made my month.

    Miyavi Gave a Never-Forget-Me Performance!!!!

by Shiya on 6/14/10House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

I couldn't tell you what I was expecting out of the Miyavi concert, because I'd never seen or heard about his past performances; but I was hoping for something I could recall as "fun". However, all I walked away with from the House of Blues was one image. One lone, sad image. The thought of me running back into the small venue, screaming at the stage, "Miyavi! Play just one more song! Just one more song!" Haha, but before all that, Miyavi had already played from just after 8 PM to, I want to say, 11:00 PM. He had already given a really long, strong performance. I was just being selfish. :P He encouraged the crowd to clap with him, jump with him, repeat his lines, and say his name. Haha, that was a really funny part. (wrote it in my fav moment slot) He really worked us, but it was worth it. The artist and the audience working together to make each others night a blast, and that's how you do it! He spoke great English. You could tell how sincere he was; very polite, as to be expected. :) Miyavi did well to repeatedly thank his fans for coming out to support him, and set the bar for consistently high energy levels. I was very proud to have gotten the nerve to go see his show during a very busy time for me. If I was offered a chance to see him again I wouldn't hesitate, but on that second time, I'd jump in line sooner. ;)

    Very fun

by Deepimpulse on 6/13/10CLUB NOKIA - Los Angeles

To be honest I do not know Japanese, but music is universal. I had a bast with the overall environment, and the beat was awesome. My friend and I rock out with Miyavi and his crew. Their rhyme and beat along with their individual personality made the entire concert very enjoyable.

    Unforgettable Night

by VkRei4Uroboros9 on 6/13/10CLUB NOKIA - Los Angeles

Like Miyavi said "Like all fun things, eventually it has to come to an end". It was great, the show surpassed expectations and even just waiting in line was pretty cool. Miyavi truly gave an out of this world performance making it, for me, an unforgettable night.
