Inimitable

Needless to say when I first saw him 2 years ago at the Avalon in Hollywood, I was excited and nervous, not knowing what to expect at all. The 1st time I saw him he brought along a tap dancer and a beatboxer, so the audience was already in for a treat. This time, he opened with his latest single, power-chord heavy "SURVIVE", bringing only a drummer out for the first 3 songs. You realize that Miyavi doesn't need a bassist or another guitarist--he alone can compensate with his god-like abilities on the guitar. He gets the crowd riled up with clapping, screaming, yelling, and loud/catchy guitar rhythms--going to one of Miyavi's live shows is the BEST way to enjoy this artist. Every time he performs, some of his songs sound a little different--they've been rearranged specifically for his live shows, and it's a pleasant surprise once I've deciphered which song it was. I only wish more people showed up to watch this unique performer, because he really is quite like no other performer in the world, and I daresay this as a huge Lady GaGa fan, that his style continues to pleasantly shock me, while his skill as a guitarist continues to blow my mind.
