Minnesota Wild History

The state of Minnesota was without an NHL franchise for seven years after the 1993 departure of the North Stars. That void was filled when the city of Saint Paul landed the Wild as an expansion team in 2000. Hall of Famer Jacques Lemaire took over as the franchise's first head coach.

The Wild advanced to the Western Conference Final in 2002-2003 behind the play of right wing Marián Gáborík, and has gone on to post a winning record in almost every season since. Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Minnesota reached the postseason six consecutive times.

Center Mikko Koivu spent his entire NHL career with the Wild and is the franchise's all-time leader in games played, points and assists. In 2022, the Wild retired Koivu's jersey, the first player in franchise history to have a jersey retired. Overall, the Wild has qualified for the Playoffs 13 times in its history.

    Exciting game!

by Rob R. Eden Prairie on 1/27/22Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

It was a high scoring win for the Wild. It’s always great when the Wild score a lot and win and they are having a great year. Food is always good and atmosphere is electric. This may sound silly but the only thing I would change is the song they play when they score. It’s always been a great song and has been fun to celebrate but this years “shout” is just not the best choice. In fact, my whole group and people around us agreed on this. We need a new goal scoring song. GO WILD!

    Fun Game to watch

by Hockey fan on 1/27/22Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

It was a fun game to watch and the food was good Unfortunately I will not attend any more games intel the mask mandate and vac card mandate is gone I will spend my money elsewhere Sadly to say we stopped for drinks after the game but left the city limits for no mandates I’m not a season ticket holder but do attend 10 games a year This is not the Wild’s fault

    Not worth the $

by Clint on 1/27/22Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

It was a good game but can't believe how much they charge for the lowest possible quality food they could find. Thanks but no thanks, I'll stay home.

Outstanding venue, great team, wonderful night

by jkyll on 1/25/22Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

The Xcel Center is an amazing venue to watch hockey. The sounds, music, crowd, food, and sightlines can't be beat. What a great night. St Paul does have a mask mandate and many in the crowd chose not to follow it or obey it. Choose to obey laws by your elected officials. Choose to be kind.

    First time

by Smiley on 12/7/21Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

First time here and it was so fun! Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Drinks are a little overpriced, but I guess that’s everywhere for a hockey game. We will definitely be going back.

Best game i have been too yet!

by Brandon on 12/7/21Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Great game... sound system needs updating, it sounds pretty bad compared to other arenas... also you cant use cash anymore which makes the lines take longer and getting a beer in a pain in the butt.
