Minnesota Timberwolves History
The Timberwolves joined the NBA in the 1989 expansion that also brought the Orlando Magic into the league. The Wolves struggled during their first seven seasons, but the arrivals of first-round draft pick Kevin Garnett, general manager Kevin McHale and head coach Flip Saunders signaled a turnaround. The franchise earned its first playoff berth in the 1996–97 season — the first of eight straight years in the postseason — and its first winning record a year later.
In the 1999–00 season, led by Garnett and rookie Wally Szczerbiak, the Timberwolves posted their first 50-win season, the first of three straight years they reached that milestone. But it was not until the last year in that streak that they advanced past the first round of the playoffs.
With guards Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell joining the Timberwolves for the 2003–04 season, the team won their first division title and first two postseason series, eliminating the Denver Nuggets and the Sacramento Kings. They ultimately fell to the Los Angeles Lakers in the conference finals.
After Garnett was traded away in 2007, the team rebuilt around all-star Kevin Love, but failed to make the playoffs during his tenure in Minnesota. They ended a 13-year drought without a playoff appearance by finishing 47-35 in the 2017–18 season, good for second place in the Northwest Division.

Really had a good time. Had a group of fun people sitting behind us. Game got interesting in the second half. Cheerleaders are BORING though..
The Wolves couldn't pull out a victory, but they tried hard, and my son & I had a really great time watch the game.
Execution was terrible. Bungled free throws; professionals should be able to make free throws!! Hope their is a big improvement by the time we get to see them again (next month).
The Wolves played so badly. We left in the 3rd Quarter!
While it was only a pre-season game the 2009 TWolves are a team to be dealt with! Great young talent that will only get better. A strong coaching staff with again great young talent. The venue is very fan friendly and is a must to expeience with the entire family! Thank you for a great event Target Center staff,
Nice seats but horrible game, There was nothing about the game that kept my attention.
I enjoyed the game and so did my 2 grandsons, we had good seat for little of nothing and Crunch really impressed my Grandsons. I will be going to the nezxt one on Wednesday when they play the Chicago Bulls me and a girlfriend.
We enjoyed seeing the new players and coaches. We can see the Timberwolves have some work in front of them. We were hoping for a little more energy from the team. You could tell they haven't been playing much together. We are looking forward to seeing the improvements throughout the season.
The Timberwolves are too bad to enjoy. Our family had a great time except for the quality of play we endured.
It was such a nice surprise when I got an email saying I could get free Timberwolves tickets and when we got to the Target Center I was so impressed at the good seats we recieved. The kids and I had a great time! It was a great night out!
The Wolves looked awful. The service at Target center was poor. I understand it is preseason but the concession stands that are open should have everything up and running. The best part of the evening was before the game with Crunch and the cheerleaders.
I took my kids to see the Timberwolves. We had an excellent time. It was fun to see the new look wolves!
Even though the Wolves neglected to show up for the game, the outing was nice for my granddaughter and wife who didn't have much interest in the outcome. Seats were great and so was the food.
Ticket price was great! Crunch was very fun!
It was kool to see some new players. I haven't been to a Timberwolves game since the departure of KG!
The game was awesome!! Sorry we lost. The girls however... looked like they should be dancing around poles in a guys night club
I'm glad the tickets were free. The pre season isn't all that competitive. Seats were fine. Plenty of empty space to move around.
Even though the timberwolves lost, the game was very entertaining. We got to see the new recruits and the return of last years players. I took my 5 y/o and 3 y/o and they both loved the between game entertainment aswell as the hot dogs and cotton candy. Timberwolves games are always a fun night.
I took my 80 year old mom, we had a good time, one of the things she thought was the guys should be in the 60's style shorts. and we were talking with some girls sitting by us that maybe Crunch should have a Girlfriend, and her theme could be She Wolf. I was nice they showed the Twins score on the scoreboard. Thank you
The difference was super obvious. Even the scrubs for the Raptors play like they know what they are doing compared to the Timberwolves starters. With Al Jefferson being the only real offensive option, they dumped it to him all night. Wait..wait...jumper. With Al Jeff out, it only got worse. No ball movement. No penetration. Nothing. The lower bowl was maybe 10% full and the upper one maybe 2%. I think high school basketball championships are more full. I brought some friends and I felt bad even though I got the tickets for FREE. It's going to be a LONG season. I don't know if it's even worth going to see the other teams.
