Ridiculously expensive. Such a bummer to not be able to bring your family to a sessions.
it should not be so hard to allow a nice camera and camera bag into the xcel for wrestling. my son was a first timer to qualify for the state tournament and it took me many emails and being in tears with the terrible intimidating security officer on Sunday about my camera. this should not be the case. Thank goodness for the WONDERFUL ladies behind the Guest Services that allowed me to capture my sons first ever pictures on the big stage, because the several photographers that were given MEDIA passes, not one of them got my son!!!! this should not happen at a HS event that we paid hundreds of dollars to go to, after all the hotel, ticket fees, and food we purchased......
I would recommend reconsidering your camera & purse rules. Some have Senior wrestlers & that was their last time on the mat, why is it so bad to let parents in with nice cameras to capture those lasts from their seats? For their own wrestler & for their teammates. Yes, there are great photographers there on the floor but they cant possibly capture Every wrestler out there, nor can you hope they get a good shot of your kid. No one wants a pic of their kid in bad positionsđ, great for the other guy tho. I was literally told at security that detachable lenses were not allowed because you can detach them and throw them as weapons! I mean, has this actually happened??? I highly doubt it, No photographer or anyone who has spent that kind of money on a good lens is gonna detach it and throw it at all!!! That's the craziest thing I've ever heard!!! Purses, what is wrong with allowing small clear purses such as would be allowed at concertsđ¤ˇââď¸ Some need to carry medications etc...
What an awesome tournament. I think it is absolutely wonderful they allowed 4 family/Friends of the champions on the floor to watch the championship rounds. I got to be up close and personal to watch my son win state champ! Unbelievable experience! Thank you! A memory to last a lifetime!
We went not really knowing what to expect. We were very pleased with the whole. It was run very well. We're looking forward to next year.
I left to go get food, and no one warmed me before I left that I wouldn't be able to come back in. I bought all day passes just to watch and hour of wrestling.
Very expensive, from tickets to concessions for a high school venue
The ease of buying tickets, and the ease of sitting and watching the tournament, everything made simple
food prices could be lower for an all day event with little time allowed between session and the fear of paying for parking twice. makes it expensive for al family of four plus. Thanks otherwise, well organized.
No showers for wrestlers and no practice, warm up room. Time to move.
1. Being an older person should be able to go out and come back in. This is the biggest complaint I heard during the tournament. Would be nice to go rest for a while. Also ended up standing for 4 hours which wasnât fun. So maybe a few sitting areas out in the lobby.
Couple things why are there no programs to buy and people like to fill the brackets and look back at them. I printed some off before I went and guess what I gave them to a family that had a boy wrestling and they wanted to keep it. Some one I know paid 8.00 to stream it and then it went black couple hours in and why does wrestling always get the short end of the stick, never on TV, always have to pay for streaming, no programs. Wrestling families are getting upset and have been for years.
it was awesome, i go almost every year for my cousins and never does it disappoint.
The event itself was great but the food was outrageously expensive.
Only thing I would like to see changed would be to just charge a daily rate vs separate sessions and having to leave and come back. You can still take a break, let people stay there if they choose and it would benefit food sales at the venue. Kind of a hassle to physically leave and have to come back. It has to take more man power on Xcels end to hire people.to.make sure people are out and then screening people coming back in.
I loved the introduction for the final session with the spot lights, music and handshaking with opponents. These young athletes worked years to get to this place and I think this really made it special. Iâm hoping all of the youngsters in the crowd will be drawn to this wonderful competition. I also thought the introduction for girls wrestling was well done and well received. Itâs great to see this sport grow.
I had a wrestler in this event so it was extra fun, but even if i didn't I would attend again. It felt like being in a video game for 2 days. The tournament was well organized and the venue clean. Between morning and evening session everyone was forced to leave the arena for two hours which was extremely obnoxious since parking was hard to come by and $20 per pop. So if you wanted to leave you would end up paying at least $40 per day. Other than that the I would definitely go to this event again!
The tournament was very organized and so were the announcers. I appreciate all the refs and other staff! Food was great and as usual expensive! So impressed with the whole tournament and convenience of everything! Thanks!
Watching the greatest wrestler of all time Eli Paulson is something Iâll never forget. I screamed so hard for the mate that my vocal cords still hurt. Absolute masterclass. Hastings still sucks.
We stayed at a hotel a few blocks away from the venue and we used the St. Paul Skyway to get to the Excel Energy Center. However, there's very little signage guiding us to the Excel and with many corridors, it was very frustrating to find our way easily.
