Fun time, never been to a derby my date smiled the whole time
Always a great time. Friendly for all ages. We've been going for 5 years now and love it! Parking and traffic is difficult if any other events are downtown so 1) park and take a bus 2) leave 2 hours early.
I’m always excited to go see MNRG skate! It’s the best feeling in the world!
We really had fun. The game is easy to catch onto, but I would suggest getting there early because the have practice game between two other teams where they stop and explain the rules. The sightlines are good. In the balcony, where most of the seats are it is reserved seating for the first number of rows, then general admission. The general admission seats are just fine. It is a good family outing. Reasonably priced. Because it has simple rules it is good for kids. What made it more fun for us was to pick a team to cheer for, even though you don't know one from the other.
I saw this type of event when I was much younger. It was on a different type of track not tape on the floor. There was much much more action. This was boring. Sorry
Date night and drove around for 3 hours trying to find a place to park. Never got to see our first roller derby match.
Not what I expected and concession food was awful. Not wasting my money again.
This event was very event less. Great for small kids. Half time show was the best part. Got tickets early to be on the floor and even that was a big mistake. No one could see anything unless they were in the front row. The bathrooms always had a line of roller girls in it and once the Wild came let out next door they were aloud to enter the roller derby for free, filling the remainder of the bathroom..
We always have a blast! The facepaint was excellent. The vendors friendly. The programs being sponsered always a great cause. The event itself- fun to watch and experience!
Took my Daughter for the first time ever and had so much fun. Out of all the sporting venues we have gone too this was by far the best experience. From security to the staff and vendors to the Ladies themselves and Fans, everyone was so friendly! Will definitely be going again and I would recommend for anyone to go no matter the age.
After a few years hiatus I returned to this match and was very disappointed in the action - or should I say inaction. The play was slow - stopped at times while jammers circled the track unhindered. The physical play is almost non-existent - perhaps for safety sake I am guessing. The halftime show was great..
The atmosphere was great and people watching the best. The Roller Girls were somewhat boring, it became very repetitive. Half-time show with Market Brass was the best part! Was not worth $55 a couple.
Went to see the roller girls with friends. It was the first time for a few of us and we really had a great time. The rules we were explained in a demo before the bouts started. One of my friends skates for a team in another state so she helped us understand some of the intricacies. The band at half time was great. Make sure you check to see what other events are in St Paul. Both the Wild and the Ordway were playing which made traffic and parking interesting.
The event was awesome, took a little time to learn the game/competition but then it got interesting, The girls skated hard and made the night enjoyable. The halftime show was cool. The only draw back is that the Beverages (alcohol) at multiple concessions tasted stale and frankly a little pricey for a smaller attraction. But overall would do it again.
Minnesota Roller Girls ALWAYS give it their all. These powerful and athletic women compete in a full contact sport that will thrill and amaze. The sport is easy to understand, but the strategies evolve from season to season, bout to bout, even jam to jam. GREAT entertainment for the whole family, first timer and full timer alike! P.S. great beer sponsor
Super fun combination of a pretty rough sport and a little theater to make for a great evening!
Great fun for the whole family or for anyone really.
First time going. Seats were great not knowing where we were going to be, and not familiar with the Roy Wilkins Auditorium
I've never been to Roy Wilkins Auditorium or to the MN Roller Girls. I wasn't sure what to expect but had watched roller derby growing up and wanted to bring my adult daughter who is in a wheelchair. We loved it! Everyone was very helpful and welcoming, there was tons of energy and lots of entertainment. Many there with their children so I think it can be a fun, family event. The sound system was difficult to understand from where we were sitting but I would recommend it to anyone.
The Rockits may ROCK but the Garda Belts JAM! Really enjoyed this family friendly athletic event. So pleased that proceeds go to charity.
