My wife and I went and had a blast. We are definitely going on April 27th
This was the first time attending the roller derby and I must say it was very entertaining and fun to watch. My daughter also enjoyed herself and was the first time for her.
Great event, just bummed they didn't specify that that trackside ( the most expensive seats) are literally sitting on the concrete floor next to track. No seats. Just floor. They should not have been the most expensive seats. They should have been the cheapest.
I was unaware that the track had become flat. I was disappointed, I really wanted to see the sloped track.
I went to the Roller Derby with some friends to introduce them to the sport. I hadn't been to a bout in a few years. It was a really fun time. The seating was good for viewing. The people around us helped us with some rules and strategy and the food and beverages were really easy to get good. The bouts themselves were fun to watch and the DJ and announcers make it even more entertaining. Really enjoyed the diverse crowd!
Another amazing bout by the Minnesota Roller Girls. They always show out when they skate, and the atmosphere is electric
This is a best entertainment for the money in St Paul. Lots of action with a friendly atmosphere.
What an amazing group of humans! I went with a few friends (who have also never seen a game before). We sat near a skater named Kali on the main level and she helped walk us all through the ins and outs of what was happening and why certain things occured (hand signals, penalties, etc.). The first game had an such an amazing comeback at the buzzer. I've never felt so excited for teams i didnt know. My wife enjoyed it so much, she's looking to buy a pair of skates now! Badass!!
This was so much fun! Had no expectations because I'd never been to roller derby and didn't know what it was all about, and this event EXCEEDED any expectations I could have had!!! HIGHLY recommend for a reasonably priced night of super FUN action!
We had a good time but we were confused about the rules of the derby. We also heard many questions in the stands about what was happening. It would have been nice if during breaks they explained a little about the rules, different roles or strategies. This sport is new to many people especially after a year or two away from attending big events.
I have been attending Roller Derby for nearly ten years. I bring my kids, and anyone who wants to try something new and fun. However; now it seems to have turned into a super low-budget experience. No live band, no flashy outfits, no verve that it used to have. Granted we have been in a pandemic and many derby-ers have probably gotten other jobs and moved out of this physical sphere of entertainment Completely understandable. It is not the same and many people left at half-time, while I lasted until the last 15 mins then finally had to admit I was not having a good time. Bring back the t-shirt cannon, the wackydoodles, and the live show as well as the fierce competition = or you'll lose me.
Fun, competitive, fast moving! Loved it! We'll be back!
The semifinals were so much fun. Every employee at the venue was helpful and awesome. The seats were great and everyone I came with had an awesome experience.
You're right in the action no matter where you sit. The best clean family entertainment for the price! You will get used to ignoring the announcers as you can't really tell what they've saying. The scoreboard is an awesome upgrade! Go a few hours early to start time to secure parking and find a place to eat. Do not wait or you will be stuck driving around for awhile. Bus or Uber is best if you're closeby or want to drink. Good variety of snack$ and merchandise.
My husband and I went knowing absolutely nothing about what we were going to watch. At first, it looked like chaos, until we realized the rules were spelled out in the program. (Tip 1 - Grab a program.) There was also an animated mini-lesson on the big screen about half way through. 4 teams took the floor in total. First 2 teams played a 1/2, then the next 2 teams played a 1/2, then a punk band took the stage and everyone in the stands got on the floor to dance, then the first 2 teams played their second 1/2, etc. The best way I can explain it is a little like rugby (lots of scrums), but with a human ball and an ever-moving goal line, plus circus sideshow. We'll be back!
Great event...fab people watching...Feisty athletic women ...!!!!
Always fun and entertaining! A great event that is inexpensive, kid-friendly and perfect for a date or girls night!
Love the energy and the good clean fun. Halftime crowd participation was amazing! Players were very competitive but you could see the love and respect they have for the game and each other. Such a fun event :-)
My seats were great but the fee charges were over priced.
It was really fun. I wish I knew the rules better. I should have looked them up before the match
