Swan Lake was a wonderful experience. The set was beautiful and the orchestra was superb.

Beautiful sets, talented dancers and a delight for children. When I asked my 4 yo what part he liked best he said, “All of it!”

    Best Birthday present ever

by Gawky on 12/12/17DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

This was my first ballet. I purchased the tickets for my granddaughter's birthday, and all I heard from her the whole show was how amazing the show was, and that it was the best birthday present ever. I was very impressed. I loved it, and will be going to more shows. Thank you Minnesota ballet, the dancers were so graceful and talented. I'm glad the Nutcracker was my first ballet.

    Minnesota Ballet - The Nutcracker

by weazermcbeazer on 12/12/17DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

This show was awesome!! Between the dancing, the costumes and the stage sets, it was magical! The Orchestra was worth hearing in itseff. It was like you were in a dream! My only complaint was that it went way too fast!! If you have not seen it, make sure you put it on your list for next year!!!

    Dracula ballet was great

by Suprsoniksid on 10/26/16DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

The ballet was great. We were slightly disappointed that the music was prerecorded, unlike the Nutcracker which had the orchestra. Otherwise, the performance was flawless and much enjoyed. I would suggest that a ballet performance would be most enjoyable if you read the story ahead of time. It will help you to follow the performance's storyline more easily.

    No wow factor

by AriannaVn on 3/22/16DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

I was very disappointed in this ballet. I went to the nutcracker last year and the dances were amazing and the costumes were so beautiful. Just gorgeous! My boyfriend offered to take me to this Cinderella ballet a month ago and I excitingly agreed. It was his first ballet. I was excited to see the creativity in the story line and the way they told it in the dancing. That's where it fell short. The dance numbers were very boring. Very boring. I thought even half way through they must be having the prince and Cinderella dance an amazing number and it was very bland. Cinderellas costume was the most disappointing part in the whole ballet. It was pink and looked like a nightgown you wear to bed. I was expecting something stunning and magical but there was no wow factor when she first stepped out on to the stage. So disappointing. The stepsisters made the ballet funny and I liked that the most but it definitely could have used more intricate dancing and way way better costumes

    First Ballet

by Willingtotryit on 12/16/15DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

The only reason I am rating this a three star instead of a four or five star is because of the interruptions and distractions from children playing in the isle ways during the show. The ushers, sitting right by, did nothing to remove the distraction. This was my first ballet and I have to say it was surprisingly entertaining. The first act was filled with a lot of interesting things. Wonderful costumes and the stage props were impressive. I could not help but to feel taken back to the time of story. The second act was bit boring for me. I am not a ballet enthusiast so I did not get the same appreciation that most others did from the dance sessions. Overall, my favorite element of the show was the orchestra. That was incredible! The only complaint I have is the large number of toddlers and infants. You would think it was a Disney show. At one point there were parents allowing their children to play in the isles during the show. Very distracting. So much so, some people actually got up and left.

    Truly enjoyable production

by Mtscruffyjohn on 12/14/15DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Minnesota Ballet's production of the Nutcracker. The sets and costumes were breathtaking, the dancing very good, and clearly the company was enjoying themselves. I wish we had purchased tickets for a second showing.

    Good preformance - poor audience

by GitchSup on 3/31/15DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

While the performance was very nice, all be it a little long on the masquerade ball sequence, what stood out was the audience. For an evening performance that started at 7 pm I was quite surprised by the amount of small children in the audience. As it turns out the children were better behaved than most of the parents. Patrons are apparently allowed to bring in their own snacks, even those in wrappers that crinkle and using a whisper to explain the story to their children was not even thought about by several people. Over all I would recommend the Minnesota Ballet, but be mindful of the performance, if it is something Disney may have done at some point be prepared for more interruptions than a standard performance of something like Swan Lake.

Soloists were great, overall show was forgettable

by kvaro412 on 3/30/15DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

The princess, 'good' and 'bad' faeries were superb dancers, as were the peacock couple and prince charming during the 2nd half. However, the plot/story line barely existed during the 1st half, and was non-existent the 2nd half. The corps de ballet were frequently not synchronized, and the whole performance was very staccato in its transitions between performances. I honestly felt bad for the dancers, that they were suffering from poor artistic direction.
