    Manhattan Nutcracker

Took my grandchildren to the ballet, they had never seen professional dancers before, and they loved it. The girls were enthralled!

Great scenery! Kids loved it! Dancers are amazing. Eveyone is dressed up. Feels like a special Christmas event. Parking was horrible however. My husband dropped us at the door to go park, the whole DECC lot was full! He was turned away and had to go into canal park and look for a spot. Tip, leave a lot of extra time for parking!!

    Great night out

by GitchSup on 10/22/12DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

I would recommend the MN Ballet's Dracula as a fun night out durring the Halloween season, it was well done and has an easy to follow storyline making it a great ballet for a first timer.

    Dracula was breathtaking

by ValuRite on 10/22/12DECC's Symphony Hall - Duluth

Our anniversary celebration in Duluth. Traveled some distance, but would rather go to Duluth versus Minneapolis/St Paul. The distance is about the same but Duluth is a lot easier to negotiate. First ballet my wife or myself have ever attended. It was excellent and easy to follow. We were amazed how the participants glided effortlessly across the stage but we readily recognized the extensive training and stamina it took to perform the many moves. The fellow who played Dracula did an athletic and wonderful job near the end of the performance when he lifted and danced with the girl co-star. We felt bad on behalf of the performers that the arena was not completely full - perhaps because of MEA and other venues. We plan to attend other performances and events as soon as we get our name on the "coming" list.

    Was so worth waiting for!

    by bluehills1 on 12/20/10DECC Auditorium - Duluth

This year my daughter and I finally made it to "The Nutcracker". It was so worth waiting for! We had been planning to go since my daughter was a little girl--she just turned 30 years old this year and tickets to "The Nutcracker" was her gift from me. We had a fantastic time! We laughed and at times tears came to our eyes. Now we want to go back to see it every Christmas season.

good show, seating was not impressed with, it said "best seating available" yet it put us 20 rows further back, even though all the seats in front were empty....

    Excellent Show

by beded on 12/15/10DECC Auditorium - Duluth

I took my daughter and granddaughter to see this because my granddaughter is in dance and has wanted to see it for some time. We were not disappointed. In addition to the Minnesota Ballet Company, the show had a number of children dancing, and I was amazed and what a great job they did. I was especially impressed with the child who played the daughter of the Butler and the Housekeeper. She not only danced well, her acting as the mischievous, almost obnoxious Madeleine was funny and excellent. The boy who played Fritz was almost as good. The Festival Orchestra was also excellent. A dance company needs good music, and the musicians did the dancers proud.

Very well organized and a great performance overall! It was a fabulous evening. The DECC is a great venue to attend events with convenient and well-priced parking.

Maybe a heads up on the new take would be nice?

by Anonymous on 12/12/10DECC Auditorium - Duluth

They took some artistic twists into their 2010 performance. Some I really enjoyed, like the comedy they wove into the party scene. However for someone who doesn't know the story well, the scenes could have been tied together better. I had to explain a lot of it afterward to my guest who is somewhat familiar with the story, and I think I would have had less explaining with a more traditional performance. While we were in no way opposed to the racial diversity of the performers, I would like to point out that my guest was confused why the main character not only changed in age in the story but also her race. I also missed some of the more traditional things you usually see in Nutcracker performances.

    a magical performance

by kjsw on 12/12/10DECC Auditorium - Duluth

My 9-year old daughter wasn't excited to go the Nutcracker because she wasn't exactly sure what it was going to be like. It didn't take long after the start of the ballet for her frown to turn into a huge smile. She sat in awe the entire performance. She walked out of the performance with a much better attitude than when we walked in. She is looking forward to going again next year!

    What an enchanting performance!

by pjae on 10/26/10DECC Auditorium - Duluth

I have to say that I haven't seen the Minnesota Ballet perform in a few years and I was quite impressed. We chose to go to the matinee perfomance and we weren't disappointed. The matinee showing was full of little girl ballerinas dressed in their tutus and it definitely added to the fun of the performance to see them so excited and so in awe of the dancers. The dancers were magnificent and they made it look so effortless! The costumes were gorgeous as well and the set design was beautiful. I would definitely reccommend. It got me excited for The Nutcracker! :)

We loved the Northern Lights production with its contemporary choreography, fitting costumes and wonderful, inovative lighting. Great job.

Nice performance. I didn't really like the Sinatra Suite that much...not sure why. The Northern Lights piece was really wonderful.
