MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET ON TOUR:

Hot on the heels of its Broadway run, rock and roll musical Million Dollar Quartet is on the road to tell the story of the fateful meeting between Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash at an impromptu jam session in December of 1956. The musical focuses on these newcomers before they became icons, gathered for a rare collaboration at Sun Studios in Memphis. The cast brilliantly portrays the original performers while playing each timeless track with perfection and ease. Million Dollar Quartet will have fans all shook up this summer with their red-hot 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Million Dollar Quartet tells the story of four Southern rock legends who unexpectedly came together in 1956 for a very spontaneous recording session at Sun Studios. Since its 2007 premiere, the electrifying production has graced theaters across the US, landing on Broadway in 2010 for an acclaimed year-long run. Nominated for three Tony Awards including Best Musical, Million Dollar Quartet transports audiences back in time to the golden age of rock and roll with an iconic collection of hits that will leave fans feeling like a million bucks.

I was in the pit section and felt so intimate with the performers- "Elvis" looked so much like Elvis it was uncanny. It was funny, light, and charming- I wished the audience would have interacted more as the couple sitting next to me and myself tried a few times to clap along and dance. I would have loved to take my parents who are big 50s music fans having graduated in 1957.

I bought my husband tickets to Million Dollar Quartet because he is a huge fan of Elvis and Johnny Cash but I ended up loving it too! The music, musicians, vocals and witty banter was so much fun-you couldn't sit still! What an ensemble!...I thought I was watching the real thing! Learned a little bit of history too! We had to bring our parents back the next night and they were amazed having seen Elvis live before!

Million Dollar Quartet was funny, enjoyable and absolutely fabulous. Bought CD and both my husband and I felt that the touring cast sounded better and looked more authentic than the Broadway cast. Must see show.

  • Great Show

We saw this in Rochester for my husband's birthday and it did not disappoint! We had just been to Graceland and Sun records in Memphis, the Rock and Soul Hall of Fame, and RCA and the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville in Sept. We have seen several Elvis look alikes perform and this guy was by far the best right down to the knee twitching which Elvis usually did when he sang faster songs esp early in his career. The Johnny Cash sounded like the real thing too, the Carl Perkins actor was a terrific guitarist and the Jerry Lee Lewis actor stole the show. He was a wonderful pianist and the whole thing ROCKED !!! Do not miss this if you like Rock and Roll. At Sun Records, we stood in the actual room where they all got their recording start and listened to the original recordings, saw the original piano that Jerry Lee Lewis played etc. It is also the same room where the Million Dollar Quartet Photo was taken. Amazing. We saw the original equipment that this music was all recorded on also. At RCA in Nashville, we went to the room where most of Elvis's hits were recorded and many other famous artists - it is still in use today.

What a talented group of musicians....you really thought you were watching the originals up on stage. It was great to see so many different generation of people swaying and keeping beat to the music.
