MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET ON TOUR:
Hot on the heels of its Broadway run, rock and roll musical Million Dollar Quartet is on the road to tell the story of the fateful meeting between Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash at an impromptu jam session in December of 1956. The musical focuses on these newcomers before they became icons, gathered for a rare collaboration at Sun Studios in Memphis. The cast brilliantly portrays the original performers while playing each timeless track with perfection and ease. Million Dollar Quartet will have fans all shook up this summer with their red-hot 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Million Dollar Quartet tells the story of four Southern rock legends who unexpectedly came together in 1956 for a very spontaneous recording session at Sun Studios. Since its 2007 premiere, the electrifying production has graced theaters across the US, landing on Broadway in 2010 for an acclaimed year-long run. Nominated for three Tony Awards including Best Musical, Million Dollar Quartet transports audiences back in time to the golden age of rock and roll with an iconic collection of hits that will leave fans feeling like a million bucks.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
“This was an excellent presentation - fun, upbeat, completely a blast! The cast was full of excitement. I laughed and sang along the whole time, and I ended up on my feet with the rest of the audience, clapping and dancing. If you want a fun and lighthearted night out, go see Million Dollar Quartet!”
“This was a fantastic show! The music, the stage, the acting — all were wonderful! I wasn't bored once and all of the actors were awesome!”
“I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It was a great story played out extremely well by the cast. The performers were great in their roles and some of them were truly outstanding musical talents. We had an enjoyable evening and would recommend this show to everyone.”
Was a little disappointed in the Christmas version. Prefer the original. Still, the musicians were all good.
Even though I don’t remember Jerry Lee Lewis as a performer, his impersonator stole the show Great entertainment for any age
Very well done! Excellent set, music and talent. A truly fun experience. The venue can’t be beat with ample parking, cleanliness and friendly staff.
Our third time to see the Million Dollar Quartet show since it was introduced in Chicago and loved the Holiday version. These cast members for the quartet did a great job of musically imitating Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins. Was a fun show for the Holidays!
The MDQ promised and delivered. All the performers were so incredibly talented. I would recommend this concert experience to anyone that enjoys music and wonders what it would have been like to be inside Sun Records when history was made.
Absolutely loved this show. The music was good and the story was very compelling. The actors that the stars they were portraying we're spot on. This story also gives you some if the history of Sun records. I personally believe that these actors should make this fantastic story into a movie! They are that good!
Very fun show, will have you dancing and singing in your seats! You want to be close to the stage to see the dynamics of this group! Unbelievable instrumental players as well as impersonators and vocalists!
LOVED the show. Picking up where original left off was a great start. We would like to have seen it again. can only say that if it gets to your venue, don't hesitate. Great cast, great songs and 90 minutes went buy WAY too quick.
My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed the Million Dollar Christmas tour! We had seen the original when in Little Rock & this was just as good! This time Jerry Lee stole the show! All performers & “the band” were great! We sat in the grand mezzanine since the Robison renovation & thought the sound was even better there than in the orchestra section!
People put on a good show it was awesome and we go back again
Million Dollar Quartet was Great! The cast was awesome and the music was perfect. My wife and I enjoyed the show. This is one of those shows that you can come back the next night and watch it again. Ushers were professional and helpful. Over all, it was a great night!
Bought as guft fir husbabd as we loved the show in 2019 at The Rep. We were expecting the old familiar tunes and got poorly executed rock n roll style Christmas songs. My fault for not seeing that it would be Christmas music. We left midway in the performance.
What a wonderful time we had....the performers were just terrific....you can't just pick out one that was better than the other...they were all just so great!!!!!! Wanted to find a soundtrack with these performers they were that good!!!!
Loved every minute of this show! Was an early Christmas gift for our teenage son (that plays all these instruments/big Elvis & Cash fan) and he LOVED it! Came back home and started to practice playing like JLL! :) Thank you!
Actors (musicians) were very talented. Our difficulty was with the sound system. We have been to a number of performances at the McAllen facility and sat at different locations. Got a building designed for sound efficiency, yet wife and I seem to always have an issue with the sound. At this performance, the music was too loud for us while the conversations were not loud enough. I am sure others found it just right. Regardless, we still enjoyed the performance.
The Cast was very authentic and entertaining. I was touched by each one’s “back story”. Each one having to make personal decisions about their life along with the sacrifices. The songs brought back memories.
I wondered about Christmas music so soon but it was a delightful time. Fun and silly and great talent.
Awesome! Enjoyed the exuberance and musicality of the performance. Non stop rock and roll entertainment for an hour and a half!
Overall, great show & amazing actors! But the sound mix was terrible. The narrator was a total mush mouth - he had a great accent with a used car salesman cadence that resulted in every word being under enunciated & impossible to understand. And most of the song lyrics, especially the first few lines of EVERY SONG were completely overpowered by the instruments.
Entertaining, well done, fast paced, what’s not to love? The pianist was outstanding, he could do a one-man show! Only room for improvement: it was very difficult to understand their Manager, Sam. Either the mic wasn’t positioned properly or he spoke too fast, but it wasn’t just us. People around us kept saying “what’d he say? I didn’t catch that? I can’t hear him...” But this didn’t really distract or take away from an excellent musical.
