When I heard Mickey Hart was playing the Aladdin, one of my favorite venues, it was a no-brainer to get tickets, especially at the bargain $25 price! Had second row seat on the right side which gave me a clear view of my favorite master percussionist and his incredible assemblage of percussion toys. The man is a genius who moves like a mad scientist of sorts when he plays--mixing brews and formulas of beats and sounds that stir the heart and soul and, of course, your feet!
Mickey always assembles a stellar group of musicians. From the flawless drummer who played the "little" drum kit in the back, to the young lead guitarist, to the vocalists whose voices ranged from gospel and blues roots to African and Celtic lands. The international influence was WOMADesque. The range of music--from classic Dead songs to trance/dance to New Orleans rhythms and brass--transported the crowd to many places, including JUPITER and the SUN! Thank you Mickey and friends for coming to P-town!
