    Help us please

by Tuddball on 10/21/12Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

If you came to hear some old Dead tunes forget it. Mickey's band basically played one note for upwards of an hour in each set while Mickey doodled around the note. Sound was very cool but quickly cratered into monotony. Draft Heinekins helped a little but not enough. His band seemed like they were dying to break out into something a little more challenging. Variations on one theme all night long. Too long.

    Mickey Hart Band rocked it!

by AudieP on 10/17/12State Theatre - St Petersburg

Fun to see at least a part of the Dead !! Mickey is a great drummer & he drives his tour band well. As he stated in a RollingStone interview, they're not a cover band so don't expect all GD songs, but he interspersed his new kosmic stuff w/ a nice field of old Dead (Bertha, Scarlet Begonias, ChinaCat, Goin' Down the Road, I Know You Rider & Fire on the Mtn). The State Theater in St Pete is an old tiny vaudeville venue; Mickey likes to interact with his musicians versus being clear across stage like in stadiums. Only a few seats at this theater so lotsa milling around, way better than getting climbed over in row seating. They played nearly an hour & a half, when Mickey announces a short break.....they came back & did another hour plus! He still has that jamming energy at his (our) age---Loved it!

    The Best

by wttyby on 9/5/12The National - Richmond

Mickey Hart Band was the best Dead member solo effort I've seen. I love Ratdog and Phil & Friends, but this band was better than both compared to the shows I've seen. Haven't seen Seven Walkers yet. Mickey said they'd be back. I certainly hope so. Having Dave Schools on bass back in his hometown was definitely a treat.

Not one of Mickey's better ventures

by Anonymous on 9/4/12The National - Richmond

First of all, starting an hour late, playing for 50 minutes and then taking another hour break, doesn't reflect any sense of respect for your audience at all. Perhaps Mickey should retire from performing live. The actual band line-up was fair. The lead femal vocalist was outstanding. If she was singing, it was worth listening. The rest of the Dead covers are handled better by DSO and others. Sound was a too-loud, muddy mess.

Really Unique Sound - Fantastic Collaboration

by SPBPI on 9/4/12The National - Richmond

Waht a great show. If going to see this band, don't expect to see the Greatful Dead or Widespread Panic. This is different and really well done! The singer, Crystal Monee can belt it out - a real talent. Bluesy, R&B take on some of your old fav tunes. Gawain Mathews adds his own signature touch and Schools and Mickey Hart sound like they have been playing together forever. A very worthwhile show.

    Mickey Hart was great!

    by DeadHeadNY77 on 8/20/12The Paramount - Huntington

I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased tickets to see Mickey Hart- but I love the Grateful Dead so I couldn't pass it up. Mickey was full of energy and you could tell he still really enjoys being a musician. I only wish he played more Grateful Dead music and less of the new stuff. However, I understand that he has to promote his own work. Overall, it was a fun concert to attend!

    Mickey Hart Band ..One Word....Amazing

by voxpapa on 8/19/12The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

From the opening notes of a raucous Scarlet/Fire to the final hush of Brokedown Palace, Mickey Hart and his band took a Friday night Stone Pony crowd on a tour of the Universe...where they danced, grooved, and gazed with delight at the wonders this band exposes and reveals during two sets of amazing music and musicianship.....Featuring many Dead favs....including the aforementioned Scarlet/Fire....an OTHER ONE ....powered by Mickey, Inkx Hermann on drums, Dave Schools on (monster) bass and Ben Yonas on B-3.....in my mind rivaled my favorite Dead performances (including 11 4 77 on DPs 34) of the tune.......a wonderful I Know You Rider....A funky West L.A. Fadeaway.....and the show stopping encore sung so sweetly and respectfully by the fabulous Crystal Hall,, Mickey's female standout. It was great to hear Grateful Dead tunes interpreted by this band.....and for the first time in the post-Jerry era here is a lead guitarist who doesn't attempt to imitate Jerry....but rather put his own talents to work......creating his own sound within the framework of the Dead's material. Here's to Gawain Mathews......guitarist of distinction. Damn...he is GOOD.....and that is an understatement.(with exceptional slide work as well). Dead tunes were only a third of this band's repetoire.....as the songs from their Spring release MYSTERIUM TREMENDUM.....with lyrics by Robert Hunter on many of the tunes ....made up the rest of the evening....and might i add....to this listener....these were the real gems. Don't forget this is Mickey Hart here......the beat does not stop........ with the crisp Inkx Hermann on drums, the smiling Sikiru on talking drum and Mickey surrounded by The Beam, 20 or so drums from around the world, and electronic drum pads holding sound scapes of the sun, moon, stars and galaxies ( created thru a process called sonification where light wave readings from space are transformed into sound) this band weaves a dense mess of sound and grooves.......with the vocals of Gods and Angels..........Starlight Starbright........Let There Be Light (the second set opener).......Cut the Deck.......Supersonic Vision.....This One Hour......amazing tunes expanded and exploded in this live setting ......... this band seems to love what they are doing.........the interplay is wonderful........the smiles are plentiful....on stage....and in the audience. Thanks Mickey and band. Another WONDERFUL NIGHT in Mickey's Universe. Shine On Shine On For Your Own Sake (and ours) Hopefully everyone heeded Mickey's final sentiment to take the energy created that night back home to do some good with it. I ... for one.....am totally inspired. Thanks Mickey and Band

    late start but great

by gratefulron on 8/19/12The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

The show was supposed to start at 8:30pm, but Mickey and the band didn't hit the stage until 9:30pm. I worked that day from 6am to 3pm and was pretty beat by then, but the energy of the show kept me going to the end. And it didn't end until 12:30am.

    Mickey Hart-A very pleasent surprise

by myhonestopinionny on 8/19/12The Paramount - Huntington

Great show. For Deadheads, it has everything you could want. For fans of rock, jazz, jam, african, this band has something for everyone. Great singing. Great songs, Great jams. And of course great percussion. This show brought back to me that Mickey Hart makes sounds and can make a place vibrate like no other musician in the world. What he does is truly one of a kind. I wish I saw other shows while they were in my area, but who knew. Now I do. I highly recommend seeing this band. A great way to spend an evening.

Thumpin it up at the Paramount

by tiedyedude on 8/18/12The Paramount - Huntington

Mickey's homecoming was rocking. Dave Schools on Bass was cool. Sound from my excellent seats was ok, a little muddy on the side. Floor sound was much cleaner. Had a great time.

Mickey Hart Band w/Schools is AWESOME

by catsunflower on 7/30/12Tralf - Buffalo

Great show. Loved having Dave Schools in the "back", killing it on bass. Crystal Monee Hall really belted out those tunes--I absolutely loved her voice. Mickey was full of energy and absolutely delivered the magic that I was hoping for! I wasn't the hugest fan of the male lead singer, but I tend to be critical of male vocals. Overall, it was an excellent show! I danced the whole time and the crowd seemed to really be in the groove too!! Thanks Mickey! I love the new material!

Amazing new band. Great mixture of the new material with old grateful dead material. The band is spot on and Mickey is still the master.

    The Hart Beat is Strong!

by floater2009 on 3/4/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Mickey Hart rocked the El Rey. His band was top flight, great players and singers. Pulling mostly from his recent collaborations with Robert Hunter kept things fresh. I frankly would have even further curbed the Dead covers in favor of his new songs. The new stuff was the strongest.

mickey brings the new and the old to the el rey

by hhillsbill on 3/4/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

mickey hart proved once again that he is the most forward thinking of the remaining grateful dead members.mixing a musical stew of trance, dance, electronica, sounds from outer space and rock and roll, mickey is really on to something with this band.Over half the material was new and the rest were dead classics.the el rey was the perfect size venue for this show. the sound was excellent and there was plenty of room to dance.

Mickie Hart rocked it in the free world!

by KTMay on 12/5/11Aladdin Theater - Portland

I took my Mom (77) and it was my birthday!.....She loved it! and what I love most is the Mickie picks the GREAT venues....people can see him from just a few feet away! The aladdin theatre was an awesome venue. I took mom to see him at The Roseland about 10 yrs ago...and I remember mom putting her hands on the stage to feel the vibrations.. great job Mickie, and friends...the friends ROCKED too
