About

American contemporary Christian musician Michael W. Smith is one of a select number of Christian artists who have managed to achieve crossover success with mainstream audiences. His brand of spiritual adult contemporary pop, along with several instrumental worship and Christmas albums, have made him a favorite among fans seeking to embrace the holiday spirit and celebrate their faith through music. On his 20th studio album, 2011’s Glory, Smith enlisted a 65-piece orchestra to produce his most soaring collection of instrumental spiritual songs yet, landing him at No. 8 on the Christian Albums chart. Smith made his solo debut in 1983 with the Grammy-nominated The Michael W. Smith Project, releasing several more successful albums in the ‘80s before achieving mainstream success with hit single “Place in This World" from 1990's Go West Young Man. He is the recipient of three Grammy awards, including two Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album awards for I’ll Lead You Home (1995) and Worship Again (2002). On tour in 2013, Smith has been wowing fans with his truly collective live concert, inviting ticket buyers to sing along to his impressive array of spiritual and holiday songs.

    Short but sweet

by L. Kahn on 4/22/24Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

We could tell Michael was tired. He shared he had just come from Poland. It was good but disappointed for the money you pay, you don’t get the orchestra or choir that usually accompany his music. He spent a lot of time getting the audience to sing for him. I think it would benefit everyone if he had rest traveling between countries.

    Uplifting

by Cece on 4/22/24Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

This concert did not disappoint, Michael W Smith is a gift to the world. He carries an anointing that few performers do, and with that he brings people into the throne room of God. He recognizes his talent comes from a higher source and his willingness to share it with us is a true blessing. Then he tops it off with enlightenment to his audience of the many needs of those less fortunate, but is always the true heart of God, children. Thank you for bringing the worship to us, especially the songs that so richly touched our hearts as we have walked with God for over 40+ years. Music is so special to the Lord and His people, a wonderful form of communication. Such a rich experience, and a memorable evening filled with joy and tears. Thank you Michael W. Smith, you are a remarkable person, an amazing gift to our world!

    Great Show, Great Venue

by Michelle on 4/22/24Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

We really enjoyed MWS' show at the Morrison Center in Boise. This venue is great, staff is very friendly, not a bad seat in the house. MWS was great, too. This was my 1st time seeing him live but have listened to his music since the early 90's.

MWS is one of my favorite artists

by BCmore on 3/18/24Baton Rouge River Center Theater - Baton Rouge

Thank you, Michael, for taking me down memory lane during the first half of the concert. However, I enjoyed the second half much better. The concert was a great demonstration of how Michael's style of music has evolved over the years and how he has become one of the leading worship leaders we have today. I was very disappointed in the size of the crowd in Baton Rouge, LA. However, I wasn't there for the crowd. I was there for Michael and Jesus. His band was incredible. Blessings, keep the songs coming. Crimson Dust was incredible.

    Does This Man Ever Age?

by MarktheRealtor on 3/18/24Baton Rouge River Center Theater - Baton Rouge

What a wonderful concert!! I have never been to a MWS concert and I was tremendously excited to go see him. He did not disappoint!! I am astonished at how wonderfully he has aged. I wish I was aging as gracefully. The concert exceeded my expectations. He sang classics as well as new songs. He spoke of his life all these years as a performer and how some of the songs came into being. He prayed with us and for us. It was truly a delight!!
