MICHAEL FEINSTEIN AND THE SINATRA BIG BAND - LIVE IN CONCERT

Michael Feinstein, the multi-platinum-selling, five-time Grammy-nominated American entertainer is touring Australia this July performing the classics from his Sinatra Project album.

Feinstein is considered one of the premier interpreters of American standards. His 200-plus shows a year have included performances at Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl as well as the White House and Buckingham Palace.

More than simply a performer, Feinstein is recognised for his commitment to celebrating America's popular song and preserving its legacy for the next generation. He serves on the Library of Congress' National Recording Preservation Board, which has been asked to ensure the survival, conservation and increased public availability of America's sound recording heritage.

Feinstein's earned his fifth Grammy Award nomination in 2009 for The Sinatra Project, his Concord Records CD celebrating the music of "Ol' Blue Eyes."  Recently, he released the CDs The Power Of Two- collaborating with "Glee" and "30 Rock" star Cheyenne Jackson - and Cheek To Cheek, recorded with Broadway legend Barbara Cook.

Get ready to witness one of America's greatest performers and his big band as they belt out all the SINATRA classics to Australian audiences.

Michael Feinstein & ASO were superb!

by musicinmyblood on 12/6/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

The Sinatra centennial celebration by Michael Feinstein, accompanied by ASO was a wonderfully enjoyable evening of reminiscences and song. Michael has won new fans through his superb performance

It was a quaint performance, but often the notes were flat and nasally and there were a few too many technical errors in the singing for my taste. I found myself listening to the orchestra more, picking apart the string section in boredom. The ASO is AMAZING, and I would love to see them alone next time. There was a lot of historical background given which each song which was at times filled with the disguised boastings of Mr. Feinstein's personal exploits. The best performance of the night was when there was no singing, sad to say. They ushers were very suspicious of our seating. Another group contended for our tickets, and even though we had the right seats and the other group was mistaken, the ushers tried to seat them in our place. The ushers only looked our our tickets and didn't even check the others groups closely. The ushers became very insistent but eventually they looked at everyone's tickets before allowing us to enjoy the performance.

Only Sinatra himself would have been any better!

by ss1949 on 12/6/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Michael Feinstein is a superb singer, pianist, musical historian, and overall performer. His renditions of Sinatra standards evoke not only memories of Frank, but add his own special touches that make the songs alive and new again. Feinstein's ability to hold a note for what seems like eternity without any loss of tonal quality, pitch, or strength is simply amazing. His conversational way of conducting the entire concert is endearing to everyone in attendance. And it didn't hurt at all that the performance was in one of the great acoustic halls of the US, Atlanta Symphony Hall, and that he was backed by the Atlanta Symphony itself. Despite the volume of the symphony from time to time, Feinstein's voice was clear and heard above the music itself, something of a rarity today...and very much appreciated. Kudos to the sound mixer, as well.

    Michael Feinstein

by kingpoi on 3/16/14Centennial Hall - Tucson

Enjoy his music and his work with Gerswhin songs but he should add a female singer to his show. Sometimes his voice is not strong enough.

    Absolutely Fantastic!

by AChristie on 3/12/14Centennial Hall - Tucson

Wow, Wow, and Wow! This was one of the best shows I have ever seen (and I have seen a LOT of shows). Any fan of the music from the Gershwin's will absolutely love this and Mr. Feinstein's blending of the songs with anecdotes and his own musicianship is just fantastic. And if you're not familiar with this timeless music, please do your self a big favor and get started through Michael Feinstein. You won't be sorry!

    MICHAEL FEINSTIEN GIVES HIS ALL

by Bergenbeauty on 11/25/13Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Michael was even better than I expected. He is passionate about the American Standards and he gives 100% to his performance. He has a great voice, I like the falsetto. He has terrific arrangements and does something a little different with the old familiar songs. Best on ballads. His banter is informative, he knows more than anyone about the subject, and he has a great sense of humor. His band is great too. The piano player, Richard Furth is a stand out.

    A great evening

by NJCathi on 8/6/13The Mann Center - Philadelphia

Michael Feinstein is a wonderful keeper of the American Songbook. He is also a wonderful interpreter of those songs. Having Betty Buckley and Christine Ebersole as part of the show was the perfect addition. I only wish all three of them had done a number together.

    Not as expected

by MarkieC on 8/5/13The Mann Center - Philadelphia

We love Michael Feinstein and especially Betty Buckley and Christine Ebersole. We expected more than two songs from each of the ladies. Feinstein is terrific but it's not the type of voice that I want to hear through about 20 songs.

    Michael Feinstein was pure magic!!!

by DeannaLee on 8/5/13The Mann Center - Philadelphia

Everything about the evening and the concert was fabulous!! I love MIchael Feinstein's music, voice, arrangements, and I try to catch his concerts either locally or in NYC. The Philadelphia Orchestra was also outstanding, as usual. Michael is not only a talented musician, but also an entertainer. He makes a real connection with his audience. And, I really enjoyed is humor and his impersonations. Just a very enjoyable evening!!!!!!!

    First rate

by sunnylou2 on 8/5/13The Mann Center - Philadelphia

Very entertaining and enjoyable performance. Michael Feinstein is terrific as usual and gives 101% to a performance. Both Christine Ebersole and Betty Buckley were good as well but Feinstein is the real draw.

Feinstein & Friends was very forgettable.

by Howaboutarefund on 8/5/13The Mann Center - Philadelphia

I really went to see Betty Buckley and Christine Ebersole. Unfortunately, both ladies only sang one duet with Feinstein, and then one solo song. Then they left the stage! That was it. The balance of the concert was Feistein impersonating a lounge singer. I felt cheated. But the Philadelphia Orchestra is amazing no matter what they play!

Feinstein, Buckley and Ebersole were wonderful

by Broadwaylover2013 on 8/5/13The Mann Center - Philadelphia

Michael Feinstein singing and playing from the Great American Songbook. Betty Buckley singing Memory. Christine Ebersole demonstrating why Broadway loves her. The Philly Orchestra just being themselves. All of this made for a great night at the Mann Center. It's just a shame that there wasn't more of a crowd to enjoy the terrific performances, even though reduced price tickets were plentiful in the 10 days before the show. I would have liked to hear more from the ladies, but they were billed as "friends" so one duet and one solo each is about what you'd expect. Feinstein can play up a storm as well as interpret the heck out of a song - and did!

    Everything Is Just Fine

by CalGold on 7/2/13Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

When you're seeing Michael Feinstein, everything is just fine. He is an incredible entertainer. His personal stories about each song really makes them come alive. It's amazing how many composers of the by gone era he's actually met, many of whom have now passed away, like Ira Gershwin. Michael has truly been passed their torch & he is keeping their music alive & well. This is the fourth time I have seen Michael. And this was my favorite show yet. My wife & I sat just five rows from the stage & it felt like he was talking directly to us on many occasions. We were the youngest people there, with most of the audience being 60 or older. Maybe I was born in the wrong era, or maybe I just have great musical taste. Michael did a great impersonation of Paul Lynde from the Hollywood Squares & made us all laugh. His singing was superb. His vibrato was really cool to hear, & sitting that close I could see him slightly shaking his head to get the desired resonating vibrato inflection. It is much more intimate having great seats. This was my first time at the Valley Performing Arts Center located on the CSUN Campus. I loved it & so did Michael who had nothing but praise for it. To me the inside of it was the most beautiful part. Michael talked a lot about the LA area, including how he's the new conductor for the Pasadena Pops summer concerts. Cool! I bought his new CD "Change of Heart: The Songs of Andre Previn" & then got to meet Michael after the concert. He signed my CD & addressed it to me, making it my very own. It was great to meet him in person. He stayed until the very last person in line had gotten an autograph. Now that's a rare thing for a celebrity today to take that much time for their fans. Obviously he's a cut above the rest.

    Michael Feinstein at his best!

by Fantastic4U on 5/27/13Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

Excellent show. Well-paced, not boring, with good variety of songs, conversation with the audience, and stories. His musicians were top-notch too. Some of the best parts were when Feinstein played the piano and sang along. His musicians provided excellent background and highlighted solos. Show is a definite recommendation.

    A fun evening

by Llamar on 5/27/13Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

My wife and l had an enjoyable evening at the Michael Feinstein concert. He is a first class entertainer with fantastic musicians to back him up. It was our first event at the CSUN Performing Arts Center, and it was the perfect venue for Mr. Feinstein. He has a wonderful singing and speaking voice, and l was amazed at the celebrities he could impersonate. And he can tickle the ivories with the best of the pianists. His way of telling his life story between songs with a sense of humor had everyone laughing.
