About

NY-based writer and standup comedian Michael Che is a star on the rise. Named one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Funniest People in 2013, his comedy uses humor to identify humanity in the most controversial actions.
In March 2013, Che was brought on as a writer for two installments of NBC’siconic Saturday Night Live. Che appears on Vh1’s Best Week Ever and was featured on John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show on Comedy Central, Money from Strangers on MTV and IFC's comedy game show Bunk. This year, he will be featured at many comedy festivals: Melbourne, Moontower, Bonnaroo and Edinburgh.
On November 3rd, 2012, Che made his late night television debut CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman. Also in 2012, he created, wrote and starred in the original web series “The Realest Candidate” on Broadway Video’s YouTube channel. Che was crowned New York’s Funniest Stand-Up at the 2012 New York Comedy Festival, and both Time-Out NY and Comedy Central have listed him as one of their "Comics To Watch."

Pretty funny but not great. I’ll stick with watching him on snl or catch him for $35 at comedy shops in nyc

    Che was Che

    by Judith92 on 7/15/18Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

It wasn’t what I expected and yet exactly what I should have expected. It had more of a hanging-out-with-Michael-Che feel than structured material feel. There were no phones allowed in the show which was great, we knew ahead of time so we just left them in the car to save time instead of putting them in pouches. The opener was from Minneapolis and did a great job with her set. The host was funny, too. I thought it was a solid show and liked that because of the way he played it, every show is probably different, so every city gets a different show (it seemed like anyway).

    Michael Che was hilarious

by JaniceLynn on 7/4/18The Wilbur - Boston

I went to see Michael Che at the Wilbur on 6/30/18 and even though I was sitting in the balcony I was still really close to the stage. His two opening acts were HILARIOUS and Michael Che himself did not disappoint. I love him on SNL, he was a surprise guest at the beginning of the month when I went to see Dave Chappelle and Jon Stewart at the Wang and I was so excited to see him again live. The show started at 10pm and we stayed until 12am when he was told the staff had to go home. I would 100% go see him again.

    Enjoyable Evening

by MarcyI on 7/4/18The Wilbur - Boston

Micheal Che was enjoyable but not my favorite comedy show of all time. The venue was nice and he had a packed house. Phones had to be sealed in special packages and no video or photos were allowed during show which was understandable. His opening acts I thought were great! Paris was very funny and DJ Sipher (sp?) was funny and played some great music. Che had a conversational standup routine and very interactive with crowd. This was my first Che performace ever I have not seen his Netflix specials just what he has done on TV. I didn't really think he was bust a gut funny just okay. I do wish he doesn't rely so heavily on black/white jokes and I'm saying this as a black female lol. Just overdone personally. However it was a nice night out and an enjoyable evening.

    Funny but slow paced

by tglgtc on 7/3/18The Wilbur - Boston

Michael Che felt like he was just hanging out on stage and sharing a few prepared stories and otherwise random thoughts. The pacing was just too slow and it took away from the show’s energy and humor.

    Mr. Che true to form

    by 000Five on 7/3/18Warner Theatre - Washington

Mr. Che was his self just like he is on SNL. His humor is somewhat dry and you have to pay attention to get the jokes.

    Michael Che was amazing ❤

by Anonymous on 7/3/18The Wilbur - Boston

2nd show at the Wilber (first being Ari Shaffir) and it was incredible. Michael Che and his team blew my expectations out of the water, and even on the balcony the view was perfect. Cant wait for our next show!

    Michael Che in Concert

by Nashfork on 7/3/18Paramount Theatre - Denver

I was VERY disappointed. The highest he got on the laugh scale was humorous, He did not rise to the level of funny. He had some DJ try to warm up the crowd. Toward the end of the performance, Che and the DJ just talked, trying to be funny and not making it. Many people walked out. This guy should do more work on his act.

    He kinda phoned it in...

by bhuggon on 7/3/18The Wilbur - Boston

Che is a funny guy and is definitely talented at making jokes on the fly. He spent a good chunk of time ripping into hecklers in the audience, which was entertaining. That said, I went to Dave Chapelle/Jon Stewart a few weeks earlier and the majority of the set was the same. I know that comedians have to recycle their material for a period of time, but he was a surprise opener and I had already bought tickets for this show. Knowing that he was going to be in Boston less than a few weeks after he opened for Chappelle/Stewart, and a lot of comedy fans like myself would likely buy tickets for both, I just wish he had mixed it up more. Overall, I'd recommend seeing Che to someone that has not been to a show of his yet.

underwhelmed. have seen michael che twice before and he was SO much better previously. He wasn't onstage very long and seemed to tell half of jokes. And we'd heard half of his material before. disappointing.

The opening acts stole the show. I've seen Michael Che live before and was surprised at how distracted he was during his portion of the show. The show became an audience group discussion which is not what I wanted to see. Most of it was him asking, "what's your name? where are you from? and what do you do?" It was boring. The opening acts were great. If I knew that was going to be my night I would have begged they had more time on stage. They had the audience engaged. It was so memorable and fun.

    Hilarious!!!

    by Kricket222 on 7/3/18The Wilbur - Boston

The only thing I didn't like about the show was that it wasn't longer. Opening acts were hysterical ....and Michael did not disappoint. He touched on some very important topics with a funny spin.

    This Show was Hilarious!!

    by CrystalD88 on 7/2/18The Wilbur - Boston

Saw Michael Che at the Wilbur in Boston. This show was HILARIOUS. He had the crowd laughing the entire time. It wasn't scripted either which in my opinion made it better, it would make me want to see him over and over. The tickets were not pricey at all, totally worth it. He was better than I ever expected him to be!!

    Just Disappointing of an event

    by Wasteoftime27 on 7/1/18Warner Theatre - Washington

I have seen many comedians live including him at the comedy cellar and this was just not great. The opening "DJ" went on too long and was just trying to milk his material and spot time. Michael came out on stage and seemed very disinterested and distracted probably from too much drinking. He just rambled on about religion and politics for the majority of the time on stage. There was no structure or prepared material/jokes except for one joke you would have heard before. He only seemed semi comfortable on stage with the DJ at the end than by himself when bantering. There was no issue with the venue at the warner theater. Seats and view were great. I am not sure if the venue or Micheal requested the yondr pouches for cell phones. The process made getting out of the venue more tedious than necessary. Just generally obnoxious when you can't check what time it is before the show and check apps while waiting. Overall, I wish I could get a refund.

    Michael Che was great!

by jzzz on 7/1/18Warner Theatre - Washington

He was extremely funny! Was surprised that he didn't do more political jokes--just briefly touched on Trump. He was quite raunchy--but so very funny. The two people who went before him were very good as well! Only complaint is that the speakers were too loud at times! Oh and having our phones locked up was very interesting as well--never experienced that before!

    Such a fun time!

by MCMadHatter on 6/30/18Carolina Theatre - Durham

Micheal Che is such an amazing talent and looks so comfortable on stage I honestly couldn't tell what was bits and what he was improving. They put our phones away in Yondr bags, but honestly it made the experience better to not have to constantly check my phone or have people texting/videos during the event. Seriously such a great time and would highly recommend to anyone!
