About

The Toronto-based Metric, who've won a large audience playing the club circuit in both Canada and the U.S., released their first album, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?, to much acclaim from fans and critics in 2003. Backed by guitar, chirping synths and other pop-friendly instruments, singer Emily Haines provides vocals that range from soft and breathy to bold and fierce. The album's subject matter is also diverse, featuring songs about social standing ("The List"), difficult political issues ("Succexy") and other wide-ranging topics. 2005's Live It Out, the group's second album, offers further proof of Metric's impressive versatility and knack for crafting catchy pop-rock gems. Over the course of their career, Metric have brought countless venues to capacity, like Observatory (North Park) and The Fillmore (Philadelphia).

The best alt rock group you've never seen...

by WichitaMetricFan on 6/19/23TempleLive Wichita - Wichita

Most people haven't heard of Metric, so they don't know what they're missing. Friday nights concert in Wichita KS was incredible! Top notch! Great energy from Emily and the band, we didn't want the concert to end. Pretty sure they were surprised by the reception they received. Really hoping they come back to play Youth Without Youth and Sick Muse next time around! Thank you for including us on your tour!

Amazing Show from an Amazing Band

by Aubrey on 6/19/23TempleLive Wichita - Wichita

Seeing Metric again in a smaller venue was the best thing ever! We were only about six feet from the barrier the whole show, any closer and we could have been part of the show :)

    Great Band and Concert!

by Rono on 6/19/23TempleLive Wichita - Wichita

Metric put on a great concert in Wichita! So glad they performed here. A lot of my friends haven't heard of Metric, but they're missing out! Great Canadian band with a very charismatic lead singer. The performance was heavier than their studio albums - which made them even better! The only complaint I have from the show is the bright lights they aimed at the audience during several songs. No need for that. :-)

One of the greatest experiences of my life!

    by Braeden Diggs on 5/15/23

I saw Metric 3 days in a row in 2022. I drove to all 3 shows in Texas on their “Formentera” tour. Having been a fan for years I was worried about them disappointing me and not living up to the expectations in my head. I could not have been more wrong… The band is absolutely electric and full of energy every night. They sound just as amazing live as they do on the records. Emily’s voice is such a treat to hear in person. The night in Houston specifically was one of the best nights of my life. I was right next to the stage for the first 2 nights then in the stands with my little brother for the Austin show. 10/10 must do experience for any Metric fan, or music fan in general. I pray I get to see the chance to see Metric live again. 🖤

I first saw Metric at Voodoo Experience Festival back in 2010. I love them so much that I definitely had to go and see them. Wish they would perform here again.

    Contagious energy!

by Johnka on 10/26/22The Fillmore Detroit - Detroit

This was my first Metric show after recently discovering and getting into them, and wow! Their stage presence was fantastic; you could really tell they were feeding off of the positive energy the crowd was giving them. In return, they gave us a fantastic show, and I will definitely see them again if they come back to Detroit!

    An Experience in Musical Beauty

by Rafteye on 10/23/22The Depot - Salt Lake City

I am 57 and have been to a lot of concerts. This was the first concert I've been to in a long time where I was simultaneously uplifted in spirit and peaceful. Metric's musicianship is exemplary and the members of the band unpretentiously good-natured in their music which expresses textual optimism in their lyrics and melodic joy in the way they write songs. Their last song was "Breathing Under Water" where they calmly end the show with a soothing denouement which left me walking on air as I left. Thank you, Metric.

    Good band/poor venue

    by K. J. on 10/22/22Fillmore Minneapolis - Minneapolis

Metric was excellent and the sound sytem was solid, but that is about all one can say about The Filmore - Minneapolis. 1000 people are packed in like cattle in a single level rectangle with no nooks and crannies, no differing viewing level heights, no balcony access - in other words zero flow. The stage is also way to low. Myself being over 6 ft, I could see the performers from the knee up. An average woman, maybe chest up. Perhaps a pricey balcony seat would be ok, but I much prefer First Avenue where one can move from an open upper walkway view, through the upper bar and down the grand staircase to a raised viewing area along the back and sides and then down to the main dance floor for a few songs. To top it off, The Filmore is one of the few places in town without a re-entry policy nor a smoking area and a 16 oz beer was $12. No plans to go back again!

    Top 5

by Magoo the Human on 10/22/22The Fillmore Detroit - Detroit

Went to the meet and greet. Thwy qwre so sweet and affable. Once on stage they brought the house down. I'm a guy who goes to see live performances a lot. This concert is definitely going on my top 5 list of greatest concerts ever. It won't take number one(the place reserved for Prince) but this could definitely take the number 2 stop. Amazing performance by an amazing band.

    Tight and rocking

by Ken on 10/21/22The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

The band sounded excellent and the rockers really did rock. The crowd was standing for most of the show. The slower songs weren't that special though I noticed many concert-goers singing along. All in all in very good show.

Metric never disappoints. They sounded great. They looked great. They had everyone dancing. The only thing negative is I didn’t love the opening band.

    Amazing Performance!

by MetVic on 10/21/22The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

The band knocked it out the park with their performance at the Chicago Theater. The atmosphere and vibe was brought to life with the band’s energy. I spent a lovely evening with my wife enjoying the sounds of Metric’s catalog of prior to present. Look forward to seeing them again.
