About

Metallica was formed by drummer Lars Ulrich and singer/guitarist James Hetfield in Los Angeles in 1981; since then, their astonishing career milestones include winning eight Grammys and selling over 125 million albums worldwide, including the critically-acclaimed Master of Puppets (1986), often cited as one of the most important metal albums in history. They are also one of the most popular and commercially successful touring acts in history — according to Pollstar, as of 2019 Metallica had sold over 22 million tickets and grossed $1.4 billion in touring since 1982. Metallica’s fifth studio album, Metallica (1991), famously known as The Black Album, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and features some of the band’s biggest hits: “Nothing Else Matters,” “The Unforgiven” and “Enter Sandman.” On six consecutive genre-defining studio albums (from 1991’s Metallica through 2016’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct), Metallica has consistently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In support of their 2023 album 72 Seasons, Metallica’s M72 World Tour will see the band playing two nights in every city they visit throughout 2023-24.

    Metallica!

by FallopianFungus on 8/7/17University of Phoenix Stadium - Glendale

The show would have been way better if the sound wasn't messed up through the opening acts and halfway through Metallica. Metallica was awesome and to know that I got to experience my first Metallica concert with my wife and son is a memory I will never forget.

by Ds92 on 8/7/17University of Phoenix Stadium - Glendale

This was my very first Metallica concert. Gave me goosebumps throughout! Especially during the solos. I got to see Avenged Sevenfold play for a bit as well, and they were great. Outstanding performance by Metallica!

    Metallica was phenomenal!!!

    by Smilee77 on 8/7/17Rose Bowl - Pasadena

I have loved Metallica since I was about 10 years old ( I'm 35 now). This was the first time I had the chance to see them so I was super stoked! They did not disappoint and surpassed my expectations. I loved how interactive they were with the crowd, even the fans way in the back. At the end of the show, they exclaimed that they had only just begun despite a 35 year run. That was freakin awesome! I truly hope that they stick around for many more years and that I have the pleasure and honor of seeing them again.=)

    I will never forget!

by Mmlb123 on 8/6/17University of Phoenix Stadium - Glendale

This was my very first Metallica show and it was amazing! Everything that I always dreamed of. I discovered the band when I was 13 years old and have loved them ever since. I am 31 now and a stay at home mom of 3 and I finally got to see them LIVE! They did not disappoint at all. I was beyond stoked to finally be there. We sat at the lower level and the crowd was wonderful. Everybody having a great time and you could feel the love for Metallica all around. I loved how they started off with a few of their new songs (Hardwired, moth into flame, now that we are dead to name a few) and they later played some of their older hits (One, the memory remains, Nothing else matters, Seek and destroy, master of puppets...) I loved all of them! You could feel their love for the stage and their audience. I hope one day to see them again and bring my kids. I went to the concert as a Metallica Fan, and came out an uber, ultra, mega fan! Long live Metallica! lol and thankyou for coming to AZ! I

    Unforgettable!!

    by cbgb1243 on 8/5/17SunTrust Park - Atlanta

This was my first Metallica concert, but hopefully not my last! The show was worth every penny and the almost six hour drive to get there.Mix Master Mike had some sound issues, but did a good job getting the audience hyped. Volbeat was great! Michael's voice was very impressive. Avenged Sevenfold was great, despite the sound issues they seemed to have. (I hope to catch them on tour as well.) When Metallica hit the stage, it was electric! They started with Hardwired and Atlas Rise, and led into For Whom the Bell Tolls, at which point everyone stood. Metallica was energetic and engaged with the audience. Robert's tribute to Cliff was incredible. The visuals and pyro/fireworks were fantastic! I would ABSOLUTELY see them again!

    Metallica rocks

by JaynJosh on 8/4/17Rose Bowl - Pasadena

Although this band has been around for many years, they still put on the best show. Age has not caused them to skip a beat. They rock the house from the second they enter the stage to the very last moment.

    Great Show!!

by Wikdgtr on 8/4/17Rose Bowl - Pasadena

This is my (somewhere around) 15-20th time seeing Metallica and they never disappoint. This show was no exception. From the bagpipes of AC/DC's "It's A Long Way To The Top" to the point when the house lights came on, it was a non-stop assault on the senses. From the huge video screens to the gigantic flames that people were feeling the heat from clear across the stadium!! A truly unforgettable night. I took my 10 yr old son with me and he loved it too. It was his first time seeing Metallica and his first big venue event.
