Metallica was formed by drummer Lars Ulrich and singer/guitarist James Hetfield in Los Angeles in 1981; since then, their astonishing career milestones include winning eight Grammys and selling over 125 million albums worldwide, including the critically-acclaimed Master of Puppets (1986), often cited as one of the most important metal albums in history. They are also one of the most popular and commercially successful touring acts in history — according to Pollstar, as of 2019 Metallica had sold over 22 million tickets and grossed $1.4 billion in touring since 1982. Metallica’s fifth studio album, Metallica (1991), famously known as The Black Album, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and features some of the band’s biggest hits: “Nothing Else Matters,” “The Unforgiven” and “Enter Sandman.” On six consecutive genre-defining studio albums (from 1991’s Metallica through 2016’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct), Metallica has consistently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In support of their 2023 album 72 Seasons, Metallica’s M72 World Tour will see the band playing two nights in every city they visit throughout 2023-24.

Metallica totally killed it. Music was great, production was great.
Was a great concert, great performance, sound was perfect.
Metallica was great!!! was awesome!!! Never forget this concert
Drove 7 hours to see what I thought was going to be a slightly above average show that could really lose quality in a stadium setting. I was completely wrong. These guys are still rocking harder than almost any modern band. With an explosive stage presence, amazing setlist and a very eye captivating stage show, this is by far one of the best concerts I've seen. However, DO NOT attempt to buy merch. I waited in line from half an hour before the show until well past the end of Gojira's setlist in the blazing Phoenix sun to get a shirt. If you want merch that bad, devise an alternate plan to waiting at the first merch table you see.
I enjoy the concert but there were times when the sound wasn't so great due to the venue (echos). Aside from that and our seating (our fault) they put on a great show!
Their show did not disappoint and almost felt surreal. The effects were amazing and really it gave me a whole new appreciation for their music
Bring earplugs to Metallica! Anything over 80 decibels is bad at sustained intervals, look it up. This show was at 108 decibels, I checked with a phone app. I go to about 20 rock shows a year at every venue in Phx. This was off the charts uncomfortable loud...I guess Im getting old. Metallica was great but the sound guys should know better...
Best concert ever, Metallica is my all time favorite
Great show ... played almost 2.5 hours. Been fan for over 30 years.
I went and bought my ticket about two months in advance, I was not disappointed, security was tight with plenty of law enforcement officers to make the place safe. People were polite, the show rolled smoothly, and the energy was awesome.
The venue, University of Phoenix, is usually a bad choice for good sound quality but the largest money making venue in the Phoenix area (Glendale, AZ). The stadium was built for sports not music. I suffered the horrific sound quality when the Rolling Stones played there. Guns N Roses and their fantastic guitars cut through some of the challenges but, vocals and other instruments still suffered. I don't know if Metallica brought better equipment and engineering to the venue (it looked as if they had) but, whatever the reason Metallica rocked the U of Phx stadium. The sound matched the energy of the band, gave the audience their money's worth and raised my expectations of future music events. Metallica, come back next year!!
This show from start to finish was phenomenal, I do not think I will ever attend a concert as colossal and mind blowing as this. The production, the sound quality, and the bands we perfect plus who could complain about 2 and a half hours of Metallica. Definitely a life changing experience that I will not forget
This was my first time seeing Metallica. I was amazed at the stage setup, sound and effects. What an unbelievable show.
The entertainment was excellent!! But, the sound was horrible from the floor up to just past mid-level. When we got around the 400sect. It sounded pretty good on up.
Just totally awesome from first song to last. I'll never forget this show my personal top 5 all time
This was the first time I've had the opportunity to see Metallica in concert. It was a phenomenal experience. I also enjoyed their opening bands, particularly Gojira. I would recommend seeing Metallica in concert to anyone who enjoys performers who truly honor their relationship with their fans.
Metallica was great! This new albums is awesome live.
Possibly the best concert I have ever been to in my 35 years of going to concerts. The sound quality was outstanding and the whole band sounded great.
Probably the best show I ever saw. They played all their songs
Even after all these years they are still rocking good tunes new and old!
