Wonderful, exciting, non stop music! We loved it!!
This was one of the best musicals that I have seen. The story behind the musical dealt with some very sensitive topics but the topics were played out well and delivered truthfully. My favorite character was Huey. Felicia had an amazing voice. Bobby wasn't too bad either. Everyone performed well. If I could afford it, I would go see it again before it leaves Memphis. A+++++++ rating!!
Memphis was incredible fabulous voices, acting dancing-loved it would reccomend it to all!!
Absolutely loved this show! The music was fantastic, and the dancing and staging were just as good. It was so beautiful that at times I was moved to tears. You don't want to miss this one - especially if you're from Memphis! Enjoy. :)
Wonderfully colorful, beautiful costumes and venue, great performance!
'Memphis the Musical' may not earn any points for originality. The story of racism dividing couples from being together has been done time and time again, with perhaps the most memorable being 'Hairspray.' What 'Memphis' does bring the table is an electrifying combination of tunes and performances and a story that makes for a powerful telling of the rise of interracial relations in the South. The songs are catchy, the performances are spectaculer and comedic and there are even a few moments that will be bring a tear to your eye. This 2010 Tony Winner is highly recommended.
I enjoyed seeing Memphis the Musical from beginning to end. It is one of the best musicals I have ever seen. The acting was great and the singing was even better. The show was outstanding! A must see.
I found this musical to be warm, family friendly, uplifting and professionally done. It was so tastefully presented and possesed plenty of eye candy. The dancer wer spot on and the singers were superb. Storyline was well handled and concise yet complete. The Settings were unique and appropriate for the action. The costumes were well chosen and period appropriate. I enjoyed everything about this production. I intend to see it agin before it leaves. Memphis deserved this one, "Right ON". This one is poised for success.
The story followed history and from what history I have read, Dewey Phillips was portrayed as Huey Calhoun and they did a great job. The timeline was short and focused on the early to mid 1950's. The cast all sang incredibly well and it was a pleasure to listen to. Even though I did not recognize and of the songs they were all good.
It was super! Singing superb. Fun seeing Memphis on its opening night in Memphis.
I would recommend Memphis to anyone. It was one of the BEST shows I have EVER seen. I could see it over and over again. The cast was AMAZING!!!!! Being from Memphis I could appreciate the references that were made throughout the show. This is a show you don't want to miss.
This show is amazing. Having grown up in Memphis, I definitely appreciated the connection to the city. The songs were great and the voices were incredible. A must-see for anyone who loves the city of Memphis.
This play was more than I expected. The talent was fabulous, the story enjoyable and the singing and dancing were electric. One of the best shows I have seen at the Orpheum in a long time. The audience was really into the music. Too bad the seats are miserably uncomfortable.
The music and show was unbelievable. Could have done with less profanity. Definitely would not bring my children to this show. But overall, the quality of the production was top-notch.
