Mel Brooks is a national treasure

by StacyCultureFish on 10/18/15New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

What a treat to have my question read to him! Please repeat this program with each of his films. Could only have been better if he accepted my marriage proposal! And If i had been let into the meet and greet.

    The Night was Magic!

by Monarch79 on 10/18/15New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

What a great night. Mel Brooks was very apriciative of the audience coming to see Blazing Saddles and to listen to his stories. I enjoyed hearing all the rare insights that Mr. Brooks had experienced through his career in television and the movies. I am glad that I went.

    Comedic genius

by Speeder933 on 10/18/15New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Even at 89 years of age Mel Brooks can spin a tale eloquently and inevitably resulting in laughter sometimes painfully so. If only he returns next year with Young Frankenstein, I'd buy my tickets today. Haven't had this much fun since I first saw Tina Fey as Sarah Palin.

    The One and Only

by monya7 on 10/18/15New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Show started on time with a quick introduction of Blazing Saddles, then the film was shown on a 40ft screen with a very good sound system. We sat next to fans who knew and echoed most of the lines (note to big fans: Please don't do that--we want to hear the original actors). After the movie was over (a GREAT example of Mel's talent tho not my favorite work of his), Mel was interviewed by (I believe) Steve Haberman who was one of the producers for the recent stand-up documentary Mel Brooks, Live at the Geffen. Mel told stories of his career, his childhood, details about Blazing Saddles and the talents involved in its making--89 years old and sharp as a tack. If you have the chance to see this icon, don't miss it. We took our 20-something sons and they loved it. No surprise since we're all comedy fans in our family but--Mel Brooks is someone special.

    The amazing Mel Brooks

by Trae1004 on 10/18/15New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Mr. Brooks was unbelievable. A true genius! The man is one of a kind. I laughed from the moment he walked on stage to the moment he left the stage. Would I see him again? It would be an honor and privilege. G-d bless you Mel Brooks. You have come a long way from Brooklyn may you have at least another 100 years of making us laugh.

Mel Brooks was great, the VIP package less so

by NachoKingP on 10/18/15New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

The movie and interview with Mel Brooks was one of the best events I've ever attended. I do feel like the amount of money they charged for the "VIP meet and greet" was way too high given what little time we had. They ran it like an assembly line and Mel Brooks refused to sign anything. It was about 45 seconds a pair and it was just "take the picture and go". He was nice, but we paid almost $400 a ticket for that?

Wonderful idea, screening and talk by Mel Brooks. What a story teller. And Blazing Saddles is the best comedy ever made.

    Never left the saddle

by thequeen1326 on 10/18/15New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Mel Brooks, Back in the Saddle was amazing! Not only was it great to actually see Blazing Saddles on a big screen for the first time, everyone in the audience was into it. From the opening credits to the ending credits, people clapped for dialogue, said lines out loud and cheered. But the best part of the evening was actually getting to see Mr. Brooks in person, talking about one of the best comedy movies ever, as well as, many stories of his childhood and his career. I am so happy I got see him in person!

    Tremendous evening

by Jackaroni on 10/18/15New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Not only did we get to see a classic movie in Blazing Saddles, but Mel Brooks sat for almost an hour and a half telling stories of the making of the movie, his relationship with the stars, and his inspiration for the film. Seeing the movie for the first time on a big screen was awesome (I was 4 when it premiered). I loved hearing hundreds of people quoting and laughing along with me as our favorite scenes/lines hit the big screen. An incredible time with a classic, funny man.

Wonderful! Bring him back to do the same for The Producers, Young Frankenstein, and History of the World Part I.
