About

With 2013’s Monster in the Closet, pop punkers Mayday Parade scored their first Top 10 album on the Billboard 200 and earned praise for what critics called their most emotionally accessible release to date. Drawing comparisons to Queen for its intricate vocal harmonies and guitar work, Monsters deals with life’s big diary-worthy questions on anthemic singles “Ghosts” and “Girls,” while exploring new territory on the country-influenced “Angels” and piano ballad “Even Robots Need Blankets.” Hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, the band recorded their 2007 debut before they’d even selected a band name. After settling on Mayday Parade, they went on to release Anywhere But Here in 2009 and a self-titled third album in 2011. The band earned rave reviews for their live concerts on the 2013 Glamour Kills Tour, impressing ticket buyers with their flawless precision and their generous sets featuring both old and new songs.

Worst concert experience with The Academy Is...

by Anonymous on 11/17/09Altar Bar - Pittsburgh

I was extremely disappointed with the concert. Not only were there 3 terrible opening acts, but the academy is only played a few songs. In my opinion it was a waste of a concert. I have seen the academy is several times now and absolutely love their shows. I was not at all pleased with the brevity of their performance, and was really displeased with the opening bands. TAI's perfomance was good as usual, but too short, and they didn't even play their new single. Overall, it was my least favorite concert of theirs.

    Fall Ball Tour Rocked!

    by catsmeow118 on 11/16/09Altar Bar - Pittsburgh

What a great line up of bands in AP's Fall Ball tour! We had a great night, I am so happy that I was able to get tickets and take my kids. I've been to a lot of concerts with my kids and I would have to say this was my best expierience ever. The bands all Rocked, but they kept it clean. It was fun to watch the mosh pit and crowd surfing from above, the bouncers did a great job of letting the kids have fun and keeping them safe. There was also a bonus at the end of the night when a few guys from the bands hung out and took pictures with everyone that asked. I will be buying their songs, their merchandise and recommending for others to check out! Thanks for a very cool night out.

    Good night

    by Applesauce2625 on 11/16/09Altar Bar - Pittsburgh

Overall, this show was good. I was bummed that more bands didn't come out to meet people. And the only one of the headlining bands I met was the drummer of Mayday Parade.

    AP TOUR.

by shanexturner on 11/16/09Altar Bar - Pittsburgh

This show was unbelievable. There was so much energy: mosh pits, stage diving, crowd surfing.. Definitely a concert I'll never forget. I was all the way in the back of the crowd and eventually got all the way to the front. After the show I met all the bands and got autographs. I must say.. Jake Bundrink, drummer for Mayday Parade is a really cool guy. He's pretty chill and knows what's up. I had such a great time at this show, and I know for sure that if The Academy Is... or Mayday Parade ever come to Pittsburgh again, I'll be sure to be there. :)

    amazinggg!!

by lilsagggg on 11/16/09Altar Bar - Pittsburgh

The concert last night was unbelievable. I had the best time of my life- i will remember this night, definitely!, as one of the best so far... I not only got to see Alex of Mayday before the concert and take a picture with him, during the concert I got two picks and for Alex to sign my shirt at the end. Before, my friend also saw Derek of Mayday standing nonchalantly by the tee shirt stand (she didn't know who he was then). During, through much pushing, non-breathing, my toes being broken, hair pulled, clothes stretched..., I was in the fourth row for the first three acts and the SECOND row for the last two, Mayday Parade and the Academy!!! I came for those 2 mainly and got to touch William's hand multiple times- he was so close to me! As for the performances, they were absolutely unbelievable, mainly the last two. I didn't even care about the uncomfortableness of the audience- why should I? I couldn't believe I was up close with 2 of my favorite bands that I have only dreamed of seeing! Brooks and Alex were always up on speakers, blasting their guitars, Derek was gorgeous, with his incredible vocals and thousand fan bracelets he was wearing. And william was crazy!, taking some girls scarf and wearing it, jumping up on the big speaker box, throwing the mike and singing into the crowd, only inches away from my face. It was a dream experience, and I wouldn't change any part for the world. I only want them to come to Pittsburgh more often!!

    AP tour was amazing!!!

by Karinski69 on 10/25/09Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

The culture room was a great facility to host such a concert. The turnover time btween bands was extremely quick thanks the the bands' crews. I felt secure there with my teenage girls. I would definately recommend all the artists and "The Culture Room."

The Fall Ball '09 was the best night ever!!!

by heather258 on 10/25/09Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

Last night was simply the best concert I've ever been to. The crowd's energy was amazing. But more importantly, all the bands were so nice. They hung out after their performances. They conncected very well with the audience. I cannot wait to see Mayday Parade live again. :)

Without Mayday Parade Id be Miserable at Best

by TheGuitarPickGirl on 10/20/09House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

First off I was disappointed that the lead singer of You Me at Six was sick because I love them. Since he couldn't help it, It's excused. It was my second time seeing both The Secret Handshake and Set Your Goals. I must say they both rocked it and that I was very pleased. However, The Academy Is... was horrible. It was my fifth time (Yes, fifth) seeing them and I was very disappointed to say the least. There stage performance/presence was week and there set list was inexcusable. William look weird (I normally find him very attractive.) I have nothing good to say about it other then they played only one song I liked (Slow Down). Mayday Parade saved my day!! It was my second time seeing them and they blew me away. At there meet & greet I had asked them to play their song Black Cat and they did. There was not a dull moment in their set. Hands down made my day. I would have given it five stars but due to The Academy Is... poor performance it only gets a four. Go see it for Mayday Parade and you won't be disappointed

    I just love Mayday Parade

by LilRockerGirl on 10/20/09House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

The show was phenomenal. There was so much energy and the performance was excellent. I really liked The Secret Handshake, and both Mayday Parade and the Academy Is... not only played amazing, but they really got the crowd excited and pumped. I felt the show could have done without Set Your Goals, they were absolutely terrible and it just sounded like a bunch of noise and they looked terribly awkward, BUT the other bands made up for that bands crappy-ness. Great show!

    Wonderful <3

by KarinaRose on 10/18/09House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

This was a great show! They all were amazing. The mosh pits and crowed surfers were kind of harsh though, which I really didnt expect for these bands. But it was worth it. After the show was amazing. I got to meet William Beckett. Overall great show.

    by robc1208 on 10/5/09Station 4 - Saint Paul

This was a really good show with such a solid line up. Even though Set Your Goals couldn't make it, You Me at Six did a very nice job of opening, followed by Quietdrive, an unexpected but not altogether unwelcome change. I haven't listened to a lot off the new Quietdrive album, so i didn't appreciate it as much as I'm sure I could have, but they still played well and I enjoyed it. The Academy Is. Always do a pretty good job, and they did not in any way disappoint. The new stuff sounds good, and the older songs they played I really like as well. Mayday Parade was amazing. They played all the songs I wanted, and they introduced me to their new songs, which are fantastic. I purchased the CD that night and have been listening to it non stop since. This is another phenomenal Mayday Parade album, and they played a really good show. I can't wait for them to come back.
