This show was really enjoyable. My son said he had a lot of fun, which is high praise from him. :) If you have small children who enjoy Max and Ruby I highly recommend taking them to see it.
First time taking my son to see this and he is already asking to go see it again. He loved every minute of it and so did mom. Thank you for such a wonderful family night.
number 1 my daughter got sick right before show time and asked about refund and was told their was no refunds,so we tried to push on. the mica on the actors were in and out and hard to follow and hear.overall very bad experience and boring show, my three year old only made it half way though
My kids loved seeing Max and Ruby. They are only 3 so them talking and dancing was great. However, the content and slow ballet dancing was not that engaging. They need to do more interactive songs like frosty the snowman to keep little kids engaged. Also an intermission is not necessary at all. Along with that row EE us such a tight squeeze it us impossible for adults to move around. This should be told on the website when purchasing
This has been my 4 year old daughters 4th play she has attended and the one that she squirmed the most. She loved when Max, Ruby, and Grandma were on the stage but towards the end when the ballerinas danced for a really long time, she said she didnt like that part and got a little squirmy. I think there was a tad too much nutcracker ballerina dancing for the target audience of 3-5 year olds but when the kids got to get up and dance at the end, it saved the day. As an adult who goes to kids plays quite often, this was the most boring.
I thought that max and ruby was adorable. The story line was cute and entertaining. I thought they could have been a little more audience participation aspects and engaging with the kids. Also intermission was a little chaotic. Some parts of the show my 3 and 5 year old nephews didn't understand and there was lot of dancing so they were starting to grow jittery. Otherwise overall good show.
It was my first time at Joliet Rialto Square Theatre--and it was just AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!! The THEATRE WAS GOURGEOUS and the show AMAZING!!!! We took our two boys 10 and 4 to this show –and they really enjoyed every single moment of it!!! It was Fantastic experience. Thank you so much!!!
I took my three year old son to see this show, my grandma came with as well. We all had a great time and we will be back next year for sure.
I though it was very cute, all three of my grandkids loved it. I laughed so hard when they said for all the kids to join in and so they did from singing to dancing around. The interactions for the kids was so special. LOVE it, would go again.
The performance was very disappointing. The sound was horrible throughout the entire performance. there wasn't any interaction with children. So sad I paid $55 for these tickets. We would have had more fun at the movies.
Show was good once we found seats where we could see the show. We bought seats close to the stage that should have NEVER been sold because you couldn't see the show at all.
My 3 year old was in awe, she loves Max and Ruby! The only thing was the long intermission wasn't necessary
the show was adorable. my boys loved it! it was sweet and cute and so christmas-y. i only wish that santa would've made an appearance at the end. the dancers and characters were so great. really great show!
If you ask me to describe the show, i will say SHORT! It was so short that my daughter cried when it was over. We both got very upset. I would not recommend this show to anyone!
I brought my 3 year old boy and 1 year old girl. Our son loves the music of the Nutcracker Suite as well as the passages of the story about the tin soldiers, fritz and marie bickering over the nutcracker, the fateful jaw break, the massive growing christmas tree, and most of all, the mouse king! basically everything i just described was glassed over in about 20 seconds of dry reading by max and ruby's grandmother. the only time you see an actual nutcracker is for about 1 minute in the first act. this show is directed mainly at kids who want to see the sugar plum fairy and the other ballerinas. It was soooo expensive. i must give an A++++ for the Oakdale and in particular its staff who were amazing and friendly and so helpful.
Excellent writing and a superb job of telling the story and introducing the music to preschool and lower grades. I took my 5 yr old granddaughter who did not know the story of the Nutcracker, and she loved it. Ruby, Gramma and Max were terrific.
the play was good. It was fast moving and held the attention of the children in the audience.
My daughter was so excited to go. Limited audience interaction. Given the title I expected more of the Nutcracker Suite to be told. Just dances. The best was the sing along at the end of Christmas music. I have been to Yo Gabba Gabba and Fresh Beat Band shows. Those were far better. I would not go again. Save your $ for a better show. Also started 15 min late.
Was kinda slow, not very thoughtful and did not really get the kids going. Certainly good enough to spend a few hours on but would not go out of your way to make it happen.
