About

A star of stage and screen, Matthew Morrison has been nominated for Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe awards.
Morrison currently stars in "Glee," Fox's hit musical comedy series from Ryan Murphy.  In the show, Morrison stars as Will Schuester, an optimistic high school teacher who tries to refuel his own passion while reinventing the high school's glee club and challenging a group of outcasts to realize their star potential.
Morrison will next be releasing his debut solo album with Mercury Records on May 10, 2011.
Morrison studied musical theater, vocal performance and dance at New York University's renowned Tisch School of the Arts.  His big Broadway break came when he was cast as heartthrob Link Larkin in the hit "Hairspray." Morrison was later nominated for a Tony Award for his role in "The Light in the Piazza," and received a Drama Desk Nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Musical for "10 Million Miles." He also starred in the Tony Winning revival of "South Pacific" at Lincoln Center Theater in New York.
A California native, Morrison divides his time between Los Angeles and New York.

    Great stage performance.

by kindbill on 2/20/17Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

Matt was great but should have sung more songs. The interviewer talked to much, talked to fast and was garbelled.

Perfect showcase to experience Matt Morrison and his talents outside the confines of a play. Seth is the perfect host.

    Very short show

    by Rebecca1054 on 8/25/16Keeneland - Lexington

His voice was great! The show was very short, hardly an hour! We did have terrible weather and no one can help that. In the past we have attended picnic with the pops many times, it usually starts at 8:30 pm and ends at 11:00 pm, so to pay the same price for such a short show was truely disappointing.

by HugeCCRFan on 9/30/12Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts - Pittsburgh

The performance began with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra playing music from "Funny Girl", "West Side Story" and love songs from the movies. After a short intermission Matthew Morrison joined the orchestra on stage. Mr. Morrison sang and danced for nearly an hour performing many older classics from many artists, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., to name a few. Mr. Morrison discussed his career and performed songs from it which was quite enjoyable. The backing of the superb Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra made for a memorable performance. Near the end of the performance Mr. Morrison sang a song written by the late Marvin Hamlisch who had been the Pittsburgh Symphony's Principle Pops Conductor for the past 17 years prior to his untimely passing. This tribute was very touching as while the music faded and the lights lowered all that was lit was the conductor's platform on stage which now was empty, very touching and very well done. May he rest in peace.

The interview with Matthew Morrison was intimate and personal and the short acoustic performance after was memorable. I will most definitely attend more of this series at the Grammy Museum!

    Matthew Morrison

by edene on 9/26/11The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

The True Identity of The Man Behind Mr. Shuester. Matthew Morrison is not only an amazing singer, dancer, actor, and performer, but he is a real person. During his intimate discussion, at the Grammy Museum, he kicked off his shoes, took a few sips of water, applauded his fans, then shedded layer by layer of his external self, and revealed who he was beneath it all. He explained that his love for theater came at a very young age, when he and his cousin were sent off to camp for the summer. Who knew that decision would mark his incredible journey to where he is today! The world thanks his parents for that decision! Before he sang any of his songs, he prepared his fans by explaining the story behind each of them, but, not before he thanked the incredible Sting and Elton John for assisting and allowing him to sing their songs on his new CD. Although he sang a few songs that evening and rocked the house, the one that stands out the most is titled, My Name. It expresses his struggle to be seen, no pun intended, by his fans as Matthew Morrison, not the characters he plays on television, in theater, or even in his upcomming movie debut, where he knocks up Cameron Diaz. The song was written, and sang by Matthew Morrison beautifully! I respect him on a different level now and I can't wait to see him, in his next endeavor.

    Some Enchanted Evening

by VBclassicgirl on 9/26/11The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

Broadway Star Matthew Morrison (Mr. Scheuster on "Glee") shined in a wonderful Q&A followed by a four song acoustic set. He is a first rate singer, dancer, actor and musician. The venue at the Clive Davis Theater is so great, and there is not a bad seat in the house. Five Stars was not enough for this wonderful experience.

    Matty Fresh live=epic.

by jenniferaudrey on 9/26/11The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

This is my first time to the Grammy Museum and the Clive Davis Theater was the perfect venue for this event. It seats 200 people and everyone in the house has a good seat. Luckily for me, I found a deal on a museum membership (they let members in first) and I was basically sitting close to first row center. What more could I ask for? My only complaint for my seat was that they had these bright lights coming from the background curtains and I felt like I was being interrogated for 2 hours. I can understand that they need it for lighting/stage purposes, but I'm not the artist performing! Anyways, the interview went pretty fluid... anyone that is a Matt fan would probably get bored, but he did produce a few new tidbits. The Q&A was really relaxed and the interaction with the crowd was really nice. He performed 5 songs and all of them were absolutely amazing. The sound in the room was crystal clear. What bummed me out the most was that he didn't get to meet with his fans before or afterwards (besides the VIP seaters sitting next to me that got pulled out to see him). But I did get to meet with some of the band members, which were super gracious and humble. As far as parking, I was trying to avoid the Live flat rate parking ($20... as much as the show ticket!), so I got there really early and found a nice off site parking about 1/2 block away for $6, at that time. Super convenient. I was a little worried that me being a single, young woman walking late a night to the parking lot would be sketchy (I've never been in LA alone), I was completely wrong. The time the show got let out, lots of people were walking around the Staples Center area and there were very bright flood lights in the parking area. That was a nice surprise. Overall, I thought it was a nice program and I hope other artists will have things like these, because it was personable and very raw. Thanks Grammy Museum, I had a blast!

One of the Best Experiences EVER!

by Rose04 on 9/26/11The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

It was a very intimate setting, just 200 seats at the Grammy Museum's Clive Davis auditorium. The event started w/ Scott Goldman conducting an interview of Matthew Morrison about his career, followed by a Q&A for the guests and then a live performance by Matthew of songs from his recent album. He's a wonderful performer, singer, actor, person! And to top it off, very HANDSOME!

    Matthew Morrison Blew Me Away

by lovebuglena on 8/6/11Beacon Theatre - New York

I was not a fan of the opening act. I don't even remember his name now. The seat I was sitting at didn't turn out to be good because the people sitting in front of me made it hard for me to see what was happening on the stage. I had to keep moving my head left and right to see Matthew and the rest of the singers. Thankfully it wasn't like that throughout the entire show. Aside from this, I immensely enjoyed the show. Matthew Morrison was incredible. He blew me away. He put on an amazing show, from beginning to end, giving us his all with every performance. Not only did he sing songs from his debut album, but he also performed songs from Broadway along with other popular songs. There was something for everyone. And the dancing was awesome. He is definitely one talented guy and performer. I was very surprised to see JC from NSYNC join Matthew on stage. Never in a million years did I expect to see him there. He was awesome as well. I loved his rendition of Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing' but I wished Matthew had joined him on that performance. When I bought the tickets to Matthew's show at Beacon Theater I knew that it would be a great show and that is exactly what it was. It is one of the best show's I've ever been to.

    Matthew Morrison

by Anonymous on 8/5/11Beacon Theatre - New York

The show was amazing - the company that organized it aeglive was terrible. We paid a lot of money for the VIIP Diamond Package and was very dissapointed. Prior to the event and at the VIP checkin they did not know what time the pre-show was or the meet and great when we asked. The Venue staff did not know either. Also there were packages - Emerald and Diamond. Diamond was the more expensive one and the one with more "stuff". All the people that entered in the VIP section received the entire package. So we could have paid for Emerald and got all the benefits of the Diamond Package. Additionally, I paid for 2 meet and Greets w/ 2 photos. Only one photo with Mr. Morrison was taken. Those Photos are priceless and one was NOT taken. The show was a great experience, the event company was not. Ticketmaster may not want to represent this company

A great night to spend with friends admiring a man with his caliber of talent! A definite must see for all Gleeks of the world...just as charming in person as his character on tv. A true class act! I would see him again in a heartbeat! :)

Matt Morrison should do more solo shows!

by uklib on 8/4/11Beacon Theatre - New York

You can totally tell Matt Morrison is right at home on stage. He should continue to do more solo shows and I look forward to his next set of dates. Loved that Matt performed across the whole stage so at times he was right in front of us.

    Matthew Morrison is IT!!!

by jrzgirl4chris on 8/4/11Beacon Theatre - New York

I am not sure where to start - I had the most amazing time and experience on Monday night at the Beacon Theatre. Matthew is truly a performer. He has it all!!! Not only is he amazing on stage, but you can feel his passion and it is contagious. His set list covered everything you could hope for. Matthew is what the majority of the music business is missing now - he is all about the music and passion that it brings. Best show I have EVER seen.
