BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Matt Bellassai grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated from Northwestern in 2012 with a degree in journalism. He relocated to New York the same year and began working as a writer for online content hub BuzzFeed. While there, Bellassai co-created the video series Whine About It in 2015, which eventually attracted more than 3.5 million weekly viewers. The following year he won the inaugural "favorite social-media star" trophy at The People's Choice Awards. Bellassai then announced he would put Whine About It on hold while he developed new projects, including book deals, comedy tours, podcasts, and TV appearances. His first move was to launch a new video series in the same vein as Whine About It called To Be Honest, after which he announced several dates for his debut standup showcase The Drunk & Alone Tour. Doors are opening left and right for this budding star, and he's sure to continue his rise as one of the freshest, funniest comedians – both online and off.

We live in South Carolina, but were traveling to see family for an 'early Christmas' celebration - and got tickets to the show since it was the night before our flight left to go home. Matt was great. His stories were charming, self-deprecating, sometimes cringe-worthy - but hilarious! SO glad we were able to go!

Blown away, Matt is truly a great comedian with amazing delivery! He told hillarious stories of his childhood mixed with audience interaction. My stomach hurt from laughing and I felt better after than I have in awhile!! Everyone received his book and stayed he after to meet all his fans. Can’t wait until he comes back!!

by Nodoubt2005 on 11/6/17PhoenixI saw Matt Bellassai in Phoenix last night at StandUp Live. I've been a fan of his for some time and love his "Whine About It" and "To Be Honest" videos on YouTube. I wasn't sure what his stand up would be like, but was excited to see him in person and to get a copy of his book!! Needless to say, I was practically falling out of my seat because he is so hilarious!! His stories were so funny and he is such a relatable guy! Matt referenced that he sometimes reads over reviews for his show, so I couldn't resist posting one in his favor. I am excited to read the book and recommend that you see his show!

We shared nachos during the show and they were honestly the best part of the night. He was reading from his notes, he couldn't finish a joke all the way through. It was sort of like watching his show, but with less focus and more just talking about random things that happened when he was a kid. There was some humor but not nearly like his online show. I think he should stick to that.
