About

MATT ANDERSEN IN CONCERT:

Canadian folk and blues musician Matt Andersen is one of the hardest working artists on the road, averaging upwards of 200 live performances a year. It's easy to see why audiences love him -- Andersen is an impressive force to behold at his authentic live shows, and his virtuoso guitar playing and powerful vocals are matched with an equally impressive knack for connecting with fans. Whether he's covering classics like "Ain't No Sunshine" or performing cuts from his 2014 album Weightless, Anderson's passion and showmanship always elevate his material to the next level on his must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Hailing from the blue collar Canadian community of Perth-Andover, Matt Anderson got his start in 2002 with the band Flat Top. By the mid-'00s the budding bluesman was performing solo, honing the narrative-driven style he's become known for with extensive touring throughout the US and Canada. He made his album debut in 2007 with Second Time Around, following up with several acclaimed studio and live albums in 2008-09. He scored a considerable critical success in 2011 with the album Coal Mining Blues, which depicted working class stories from his hometown. In 2014 Anderson released the album Weightless to another round of critical praise, building excitement among fans for his continued touring.

    Matt Andersen never disappoints!

by Pen D on 3/5/24District Live - Savannah

Love seeing Matt live and the small size of this venue made it feel up close and personal. Great show; absolutely amazing guitar and knock your socks off vocals. Beautiful song writing and the stories with the songs. Amazing!

Matt Andersen and the band truly were spectacular tonight!! I have been following him for a while now...his voice is so commanding and song delivery is true and honest!! What a performer and moreover songwriter! Matt really has every base covered when it comes to being a performer...he even plays a mean guitar!! Will be looking out to seeing him (and his band) again!!

What an awesome show! Love that he obviously enjoys what he does unlike some groups that just go through the motions.

    Matt is exceptional

by Maggiem on 4/11/23Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

God I love that voice! He is the show and he had an amazing band. Loved the opening act too. My constructive piece is I would rather hear more of just Matt. When it is him, the backup singers and the band - it is too much! My favourite part was Matt and a guitar. Also, I did not like that people kept arriving during the opening act - it was so disrespectful and distracting. Old school:)

    Fantastic

by Melli on 4/4/23Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Everything was great. I just didn’t understand all the yokes, because he talks fast and there was probably some slang. The music was great, so I appreciated him being on stage by himself. All the musicians where excellent, but to my liking the instruments where drowning out the voices to much at times.

Matt Anderson band and Hello Darlins were great! BUT!!

by Randy on 4/4/23Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The sound was horrific! Excessive decibels for the venue, Way too much bass guitar and kik drum, vocals were EQ'd at ear splitting pitch. I witnessed many fans holding their ears. Sound engineer should be fired.

    Great venue and impeccable performance!

by Angela on 4/2/23Club Regent Event Centre - Winnipeg

Due to the pandemic and my previous lack of passport, I waited four years to see Matt Andersen at any nearby venue. The musicians and their talent are absolute without question. The sound wasn’t set up right and it blew during the second song of Matt’s set. The whole band had to leave the stage so they could fix the sound. Once they were back, it was smooth sailing and the rest of the evening was all I hoped for and more. Matt’s combined guitar skills and vocal abilities sit second fiddle to only a handful of current live performers. I will see Matt Andersen a second time even if I have to go to another country again. However, I hope he will soon be booked in the northern states so I can see him nearby. ⭐️ ❤️ 🤩
