About

MATT ANDERSEN IN CONCERT:

Canadian folk and blues musician Matt Andersen is one of the hardest working artists on the road, averaging upwards of 200 live performances a year. It's easy to see why audiences love him -- Andersen is an impressive force to behold at his authentic live shows, and his virtuoso guitar playing and powerful vocals are matched with an equally impressive knack for connecting with fans. Whether he's covering classics like "Ain't No Sunshine" or performing cuts from his 2014 album Weightless, Anderson's passion and showmanship always elevate his material to the next level on his must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Hailing from the blue collar Canadian community of Perth-Andover, Matt Anderson got his start in 2002 with the band Flat Top. By the mid-'00s the budding bluesman was performing solo, honing the narrative-driven style he's become known for with extensive touring throughout the US and Canada. He made his album debut in 2007 with Second Time Around, following up with several acclaimed studio and live albums in 2008-09. He scored a considerable critical success in 2011 with the album Coal Mining Blues, which depicted working class stories from his hometown. In 2014 Anderson released the album Weightless to another round of critical praise, building excitement among fans for his continued touring.

Best concert surprise ever! A Canadian Chris Stapleton

    by G. H. on 3/31/23

I read an article in the paper that this "Matt Anderson band" was playing at the casino that night. I looked him up on You Tube and figured he sounded okay. So I bought a cheap ticket. Best decision I have made in a long time. The show was phenomenal. I was brought to tears at the end. Not sure why but I couldn't believe how wonderful this Canadian band I had never heard of was and how outstanding they were. I knew one of the songs the opening band "Hello Darlins" did and it is one of my faves (Aberdeen) so I knew I would like them but they blew me away. And it turns out I knew another song which they did with Matt (Still Waters) and seeing it live was a highlight. The crowd was on its feet for the last two or three songs and it was obvious they loved it. Do yourself a favour and go see the show

    Best Show I've Seen

    by LawnmowerMan on 11/19/19

Matt Anderson was incredible, no other way to describe the concert. I have a few of his albums, and they cannot capture the skill and power he has on state. You have to see him live.

Matt Andersen put on a tremendous show! His voice is powerful and guitar playing is phenomenal! His onstage presence is the best... introducing his songs with great stories and easy banter! Co-headliner Erin Costello was also a treat and the last two songs they performed together was a perfect ending to the night !

    Amazing voice!

by B. W. on 4/30/19Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I love Matt Andersen’s voice - it is so clear and so, powerful. For me he sounds best on his own - or with one other guitar and drums. Looking forward to seeing him again.

    matt anderson, awsome guitar!

by igor345 on 3/3/14National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Excellent evening of folk/blues music with an undeniable expert at the guitar. A voice with blues undertones and incredible power when needed. made the “weightless” album come alive and sit up. He has improved in his story telling and audience interaction which made it all the more enjoyable. His rendition of "me and Bobbie MaGee" was unique and up to Janice Joplin standards.

What a man, what a man, what a mighty mighty man!

by Maxxx on 2/11/14Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Matt Anderson is a huge man with a huge talent. His singing voice can go from a whisper to a howl and will fill a concert hall without need of an amplifier. He can play the hell out of his guitar all night long! He plays and sings the blues mostly but can croon a love song too. Go see this wonderful Canadian artist A.S.A.P.
