MATCHBOX TWENTY IN CONCERT:
After a several-year hiatus from the stage, beloved alt-rockers Matchbox Twenty emerged stronger than ever in 2012 with their fourth studio album North, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and embarking on The North Tour 2013 to the delight of fans around the world. The bands 2013 dates with the Goo Goo Dolls treated audiences to old favorites and newer hits like 2012 single "She's So Mean," cementing their status as a must-see band in 2014.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
“It was one of the best, if not the best, concert I have ever been to. I appreciate the fact that the whole band, especially Rob Thomas, gives it everything they have on stage. You really get your money's worth.”
“Rob Thomas came across as so casual and down to earth and friendly that you connected with him instantly.”
“Such a great show. I've been a fan since 1995! I've seen them three times over the years and they were as good as when I saw them in the '90s. They played a great mix of old and new!”
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Matchbox Twenty rose to international fame during the ‘90s with classic alt-rock gems like “Push,” “3am,” and “Real World." Their 1996 debut album Yourself or Someone Like You was certified platinum in Canada, New Zealand and Australia and their 2000 follow-up Mad Season was certified 4x platinum in the United States. During a band hiatus in the 2000s, frontman Rob Thomas focused on his solo career, resulting in the phenomenally successful single "Smooth," a collaboration with Latin guitar legend Santana. Fans rejoiced when the band returned to the studio in 2010 to record what would ultimately become 2012’s North, their first album to land at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Loved the Matchbox 20 experience - after much anticipation!!
Matchbox 20 was outstanding!!! Great show! The venue on the other hand, needs a lot of work! Kids parking cars are pretty much worthless! Most of them standing around doing nothing! Then, we purchased Stage Left tickets, which lets you in venue at 5. By the time we got in it was 5:40!!! Mainly because of where we parked! Nothing told us ahead of time to enter gate 1. Then we’re finally in line and the girl scanning tickets needs more training or maybe another person or 3 to help. Then we had to stay in Stage Left until 6, when the rest of gates opened!!! Should be able to go about venue once we entered. There’s a lot of wasted money with all the personnel standing around doing absolutely nothing!!!
Buy VIP tickets it's so worth it!!! The seats were great, everybody that worked there we came in contact with were so helpful and so nice!!!
Best show I've seen in 20 yrs. It was an experience. Worth the wait and it'll be hard to top with that energy, setlist and fun.
Again, Matchbox 20 did not disappoint. Saw them 20 years ago and they still the same energy. Great set list. Amazing stage presence. How can anything negative ever be said about Matchbox 20!
I loved it! The music was great! New and old songs. My favorites brought back so many memories! 💗😊
Show itself was absolutely fantastic. Matchbox 20 never disappoints. Rob Thomas is so personable and respectful to his fans. I'm never too excited about opening acts. I had not followed the Wallflowers but I was so impressed. Very interactive with the audience and a great voice. Tinley Park is a nice venue with many beverage stands so no big lines. My only complaint are the drink prices. $25 for a drink is ridiculous.
One of the BEST concerts I've ever been too! Such a great performance by some really great guys!! Cannot say enough great things about this band! Has been my favorite band since college! The years of build up were nothing compared to this concert! Ahhh was such an amazing time!! Please keep coming back to Chicago!! Credit 1 Amphitheater- get it together with the parking situation!
The venue was so easy to get into and out from after. The show was spectacular and full of energy. Don’t pass up an opportunity to see Matchbox 20!
Overall wonderful experience! Lawn seats are always allot of fun! Venue was Tinley Park Illinois and is always a nice setup , free parking , can bring in your own chair, had some snacks and great view! The show was phenomenal Matchbox twenty gave it their all, Rob Thomas hasn’t aged at all in 20+ years. Great set list! Overall 10 out of 10!
After 3 years of postponements this concert was by far the best MB20 concert yet! Entering and exiting the venue was streamlined from previous experiences, navigating the park also seemed to be smoother and the sound and video were so much clearer! Would hands down recommend a concert at this venue and would DEFINITELY recommend Matchbox Twenty to anyone.
They still got it 20+ years later. Just an amazing show, they sounded great, 5/5 would see again.
Loved seeing Matchbox here! Such an amazing show! Can't wait to see them again!
A sold out crowd! It was a rock concert and Matchbox 20 were incredible Didn't want the night to end!
I attended a MB 20 concert in 2017 and it blew me away, but their Slow Dreams concert was even better! I've been going to concerts since the '70's and this one was, by far, the best one I have ever seen. Every single member of the group is unbelievably talented and I'm so glad that this tour spotlighted that. The new music is amazing, too!!!
I was really going for the opening act. We were going to stay for a couple of songs but we we were so blown away. It was an outstanding show. The energy and vibe were so positive. I will never again miss a show when they are in town.
First of all Matt Nathanson was a solid backup act and appeared very at ease on the stage with the crowd. The sound and upgraded video system was very good. Matchbox 20 played a very solid set, sounded great and overall had a fantastic show.
I originally bought tickets as a 2019 Christmas present. After 3 re-schedules, we finally got to go and it was worth the wait. Matt Nathanson was the opener. Even though I didn’t know much about him, his humor and charisma easily won over the crowd. Matchbox 20 has always been on wish list of bands to see and they were great. They sounded amazing, had good energy, and played all the hits you’d want to hear. Highly recommend seeing them. I just hope we don’t have to wait another 3 years for them to come back.
Matchbox 20 was amazing but i was very disappointed the Wallflowers didn't open, i had no clue who the opener was and i didn't get any sort of notification letting me know the wallflowers weren't going to be there
Matchbox Twenty and the Wallflowers did not disappoint. I wouldn't have missed this for the world. They are so talented and really know how to put on a show. If you ever have the opportunity to see them, it's a must!
