MATCHBOX TWENTY IN CONCERT:
After a several-year hiatus from the stage, beloved alt-rockers Matchbox Twenty emerged stronger than ever in 2012 with their fourth studio album North, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and embarking on The North Tour 2013 to the delight of fans around the world. The bands 2013 dates with the Goo Goo Dolls treated audiences to old favorites and newer hits like 2012 single "She's So Mean," cementing their status as a must-see band in 2014.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
“It was one of the best, if not the best, concert I have ever been to. I appreciate the fact that the whole band, especially Rob Thomas, gives it everything they have on stage. You really get your money's worth.”
“Rob Thomas came across as so casual and down to earth and friendly that you connected with him instantly.”
“Such a great show. I've been a fan since 1995! I've seen them three times over the years and they were as good as when I saw them in the '90s. They played a great mix of old and new!”
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Matchbox Twenty rose to international fame during the ‘90s with classic alt-rock gems like “Push,” “3am,” and “Real World." Their 1996 debut album Yourself or Someone Like You was certified platinum in Canada, New Zealand and Australia and their 2000 follow-up Mad Season was certified 4x platinum in the United States. During a band hiatus in the 2000s, frontman Rob Thomas focused on his solo career, resulting in the phenomenally successful single "Smooth," a collaboration with Latin guitar legend Santana. Fans rejoiced when the band returned to the studio in 2010 to record what would ultimately become 2012’s North, their first album to land at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

This was a great Concert. It started out with Phillip Phillips as the warm-up band. This was a surprise as I did not know who the warm-up band was. My wife and I were married in 88 and are familiar with the copious of Matchbox 20's work. The band members performed with energy and gave the crowd two and a half hours of great entertainment. The entire crowd never sat down - we stood for their entire performance.
I couldn't ask for anything more. The show exceeded my expectations. This was my first concert at this venue and must say I'll definitely be attending more at this location. The smaller venue had a much more intimate setting that seemed to involve everyone. I was in the upper level but can't complain. Not one bad seat at the Majestic!
Matchbox 20 was great, they played a lot of the old songs & some of the news ones! I could not stop from singing!!! Acoustics could have been better, there were times that you could not hear Rob Thomas sing!
It was my first time seeing Matchbox Twenty and it was amazing! Rob sounded awesome =) Fabulous show!!!
A-MA-ZING.....as always. Rob and the guys always put on one heck of a show. Can't wait to see them in Austin in March!
Amazing show!!! Great live performers! Will go back if they come back to San Antonio!
Matchbox Twenty delivered a spectacular performance! If you can still purchase tickets to one of their concerts during this tour, DO IT!! Anyone with a ticket already, you will not be dissapointed. Rob Thomas is an incredible performer and they truly did sound better in person, if that seems possible. Strong, fun, emotional performances and the crowd/fans were fantastic also.
Great sound! Awesome show! Would pay again to see them.
They are great and so underated. A terrific band and show
What a great experience! Matchbox Twenty puts on a great show, and Phillip Phillips was wonderful. The staff at the Majestic really added to the evening, being so friendly and entertaining themselves.
amazing group and musicians. jammed all night long
Band was great but the music was WAY too loud. People were leaving after only a few songs were played. I survived until about ten songs had been played, but had my fingers in my ears for the last three. My husband didn't make it that long. It was so loud that it was literally painful. Didn't want to leave, but had to, so we followed the parade of folks departing early. We felt like we were being assualted by the sound. Next time, we'll bring ear plugs. Never thought we would need them at the Majestic.
One of the best concerts I've been to in my 52 years. Right up there with Tom Petty. Phillip Phillips was cool to listen to. Kid has a cool style. Rob Thomas sounds spot on and played for 2 hours. It's obvious that he really wants the audience to have a night to remember. I'm going again in Austin and sure am glad I bought that ticket when I had the chance.
kIcked butt in San Antonio last night! Thank God they are back together. Nobody plays for 2 solid hours anymore. Can't wait for their next show in the area.
I first saw Matchbox 20 in 1998 in St Louis MO. Since I have seen them many times. I have drove to TN, MO, IL, IN, and even TX to see them. They are true sound. No other band can compete. I will be seeing them in Thackerville, Longview, Normal, and Des Moines this tour and I can not wait. Go see this band...you will not be dissappointed
They put on a great concert. Not many bands sound better live than on their album.
I have seen Matchbox twice in Grand Prairie Texas and at the Winstar Casino in Oklahoma. Their performance is second to none. In my opinion when you go to a concert you want the music and voices to be just the same as the cd. They are always spot on. Rob Thomas' voice is always fantastic!! And the music is always great. If you get a chance you must see them. I am excited to see them again at Winstar 2/1/13!!!
this was my second Matchbox 20 concert, the first was in 2001 in Rosemont, IL, with Everclear. It was also my second Alanis concert. I have one Matchbox CD, 'Yourself or Someone Like You'. I also have a single, 'Bent'. I recall Matchbox coming out to a Johnny Cash song, 'Cut You Down'.
Matchbox puts on an incredible show! I have been to over 30 concerts in my 33 years of life and Matchbox is definitely the best by far!!
