MATCHBOX TWENTY IN CONCERT:

After a several-year hiatus from the stage, beloved alt-rockers Matchbox Twenty emerged stronger than ever in 2012 with their fourth studio album North, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and embarking on The North Tour 2013 to the delight of fans around the world. The bands 2013 dates with the Goo Goo Dolls treated audiences to old favorites and newer hits like 2012 single "She's So Mean," cementing their status as a must-see band in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“It was one of the best, if not the best, concert I have ever been to. I appreciate the fact that the whole band, especially Rob Thomas, gives it everything they have on stage. You really get your money's worth.”

“Rob Thomas came across as so casual and down to earth and friendly that you connected with him instantly.”

“Such a great show. I've been a fan since 1995! I've seen them three times over the years and they were as good as when I saw them in the '90s. They played a great mix of old and new!”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Matchbox Twenty rose to international fame during the ‘90s with classic alt-rock gems like “Push,” “3am,” and “Real World." Their 1996 debut album Yourself or Someone Like You was certified platinum in Canada, New Zealand and Australia and their 2000 follow-up Mad Season was certified 4x platinum in the United States. During a band hiatus in the 2000s, frontman Rob Thomas focused on his solo career, resulting in the phenomenally successful single "Smooth," a collaboration with Latin guitar legend Santana. Fans rejoiced when the band returned to the studio in 2010 to record what would ultimately become 2012’s North, their first album to land at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

    High Energy Band! Excellent Show!

    by Leslie on 8/25/23

I waited 3 whole years to see Matchbox 20 live and they did not disappoint! Even though I have wanted to see them for 27 years now ever since I first saw and heard their first video on MTV, I did not know what to expect from them live. I have always loved Rob Thomas’ voice. I was so thrilled to see and hear him in person! He was so good! I felt bad for him, though, due to the high humidity that night and he was sweating so bad that he was glistening. But, he and the band were troopers and they carried on having very high energy the whole show and were just loving being there and what they do. So much fun and positive energy! They are a band I could see again and again! It is rare to like every single song a band or artist performs, but I did at this concert and some of them I had not even heard before because they were new. What a terrific band with one of the best front man out there! Keep up the good work, guys! Love y’all and your music! Fan for life!

    Amazing show

    by Michele on 8/13/23

Matchbox 20 was incredible. The sound was amazing. They played their classics as well as great new music. Rob Thomas displays great showmanship. I love that the band members were introduced. The group seemed to truly enjoy performing together and for the crowd. They seemed genuinely grateful for everyone being there to listen to them. The energy they exuded was contagious. There was a feeling of pure joy.

    Won't be back to Spac

    by Knuckles on 8/13/23

The music was phenomenal, probably one of the best live acts we've ever seen. Spac's cashless policy and reverse ATMs though will ensure we never attend another concert at that venue again. We go to concerts to relax and enjoy music, not walk all over changing cash into cards to buy a drink or sweatshirt

    Worth the 3 Year Wait

    by rock4evr on 8/12/23

Matchbox Twenty was amazing! Been holding on to these tickets for more than 3 years. The band sounded great and they played a good variety of songs. Can't wait to see them again! Matt Nathanson open the show and was quite entertaining. I would see him again too.

    Venues/Organizers ruin good experiences

    by Bex on 8/11/23

The pros: Rob Thomas' rich voice and infectious demeanor, the band's overall skill and talent, and the fact "Chicago"was their last stop (so they played a double encore, and meant it) made it worth the three-year wait to see Matchbox 20 live. The cons: drinks are overpriced and over-served. I'm a 38yo who's attended concerts exactly like this one many times over the years; I'm not naive, I expect to pay upwards of $15 with tip for a single extra-large alcoholic beverage. But $60 for an entire BOTTLE of average wine when my mom literally wanted just one glass? Absurd. Plus, our seats became limited-view due to the patrons in front of us dropping what had to have been a small fortune on cocktails and large cans of beer/seltzer, and subsequently acting like fools. Also, since we had waited so long to attend I thought I'd treat my elder concertgoer to the VIP parking at Tinley "Insert Corporate Name Here"Amphitheater: it was $90 online - ninety dollars !? - and $50 at the venue when we drove up. We counted as we walked; it would have spared us all of 10 short rows of cars. I'm so glad I wasn't duped by the system into buying that, and we got our steps in (even in the rain - worth it).

    Lots of fun and surprises

    by Tara T. on 8/11/23

The show was really good! Matchbox Twenty sounds better than ever, Rob Thomas is an excellent frontman- I just wish we had closer seats. Right before the encore, a middle aged woman puked all over behind our seat and it traveled a short journey to reach us. Shortly after, my partner went to use the restroom and there was a can of Liquid Death filled with urine just chilling on the toilet seat. I don’t think I’ve come into contact with this amount of bodily fluids within one event, so it does make my top ten for that.

    What a great show!

    by Angnew19 on 8/11/23

Matchbox 20 showed UP and showed OUT!!! They played so many great songs, in different tempos and far beyond the setlist someone posted online! Even my husband said it was a great show with great sound... And he's a tough critic when it comes to music! Matt nathanson was fantastic! I had no idea what to expect, but he blew me away! He's not only great with stage presence and performing, but he's hilarious! If you weren't there, you definitely missed a great show!

    Fantastic Concert

    by Swoozie3M on 8/10/23

Matt Nathanson opened for MB20 and was great! Great vocals, very good band. Matt has a good sense of humor and sexy! Would like to see him perform again. Matchbox Twenty was simply fantastic! Rob Thomas and all the musicians were perfect! I would have seen them 2 nights in a row if there was another performance close by, i.e. Syracuse NY. The encores of some old hits they did were awesome! I hope they come back to this area next year!
