MAT KEARNEY IN CONCERT:

Contemporary Christian rocker Mat Kearney has enthralled fans of inspirational and secular music alike with his unique blend of rock, pop, and hip hop. Kearney's emotional tunes are regularly featured on TV dramas like Grey's Anatomy and Kyle XY, and it's easy to see why -- his live performances reveal him to be a deeply spiritual soul whose heart-wrenching songs hold universal appeal. Whether he's crooning along to the acoustic strumming of "Breathe In Breathe Out" or kicking things up a notch with the hip hop-influenced "Ships in the Night", Kearney is a passionate and dynamic performer who always connects with fans on his must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Mat Kearney was born in Eugene, OR, but it wasn't until he attended college in Chico, CA that he discovered his passion for music. Following a trip to Nashville, Kearney picked up his roommate's guitar and begin plucking out tunes, and before long he was performing at local coffee shops. He linked up with producer Robert Marvin, and together they moved to Nashville and recorded Kearney's 2004 debut album Bullet. The record attracted the attention of execs at Columbia Records, who signed the budding singer just in time for the release of his 2006 sophomore album Nothing Left to Lose. That record was a hit, peaking at No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and receiving placement in several major TV shows. Kearney's next album, 2009's City of Black & White, topped the Christian Albums chart, and in 2011 he topped both the Christian chart and Top Rock Albums chart with his fourth album Young Love. An inspiring and emotional performer known for his soulful voice, Kearney continues to treat ticket buyers to passionate and moving shows on tour.

  • A Seriously Good Time

by JoeyG on 7/14/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

With amazing energy, phenomenal vocals and unique songs, Mat Kearney took an obvious passion of his and excited the sold out audience. His performance was not only entertaining, but a real positive enjoyment. Mat performed his most popular songs including "Closer to Love" and "Breathe In, Breathe Out". Even though the tickets were only $9.98, I would have paid much more for the experience!!

  • Mat Kearney was amazing

    by stlouis2 on 7/14/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Mat Kearney put on an awesome show! He sounded great and really interacted with the crowd. He was so friendly and willing to talk to any of his fans. Such a nice guy! I would definitely pay more than $10 to see him again!!

  • Fantasic Vibe

    by SJ831 on 7/14/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 3 out of 5

The atmosphere was fabulous and Matt was great! He didn't play my favorite song, "Cant break her fall", but loved his new music. The opening act was awesome too she had a very different sound to her. I think great things will become of her.

  • Kearney is quality

by jready on 7/14/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Mat put a good show on for everyone. He played a long set and the crowd was into it. I would go back a suggest the show to anyone who appreciates the style.

  • Mat Kearney was great, sound mixer was not!

by lacrosseman on 7/14/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 3 out of 5

Band and Mat were fantastic, but the sound mixer did a very poor job and over bass'ed the sound, often drowning out the singing.

  • Mat Kearney Was AWESOME!

by MiniSwing on 7/14/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was absolutely amazing. Erin McCarley was a great opening artist, and I will definitely try and see one of her shows again. Mat Kearney was amazing. I loved the songs he picked, and he had a great energy. I have seen him one time before and he played an acoustic set, and this concert proves that he can both very well. I cannot wait to see him in concert again.

  • Why is he not more well know?!!!!

by Jtart on 7/14/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I rarely come across a cd I can listen to from track 1 all the way through. And to have two CDs equally outstanding! Wow! I love him. Keep it up! I'll be there again next time.

  • Mat is a Talent!

by Crony on 7/13/09Grove - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

It seems like most artists are either great recorded or great live, but not both. Mat is a rare exception. He is very solid live and on his record. I prefer to see him in the smaller venues.

  • Pretty Average Concert, Standard

by kjarra on 7/13/09Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

This was a good concert, very intimate venue, lots of minors though. There was some good rocking out, but from I could tell it sounded a lot like the album (I wish there was more improv going on). Mat Kearney is a fun performer though, and has a pretty stellar voice.

  • Mat Kearney, Great Show

by grosbaca on 7/13/09Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Mat Kearney put on a great show at the Beaumont Club this past Saturday ( July 11). This was my first event at the Beaumont Club and it is a great place to see a show. The opening act had a few sound problems, but when Mat came on stage there was no issue. He played for around one hour and thirty minutes, and the crowd was into it the whole time. His vocals are next to none and the mix of new and old was great. All in all, an amazing show!

  • Mat Kearney is simply the greatest

by Jordy on 7/12/09Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Mat Kearney is a very unique capturing entertainer. His songs are amazing and mean so much in a deep way. I loved the show, wish it didn't end...

  • Amazing Performance

by Kaka on 7/12/09Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

Loved, loved loved the performance by Mat Kearney. My friends and I danced from the minute he stepped on stage to the minute he left. There were things that could have been done better by the event promoter...... 1. Advertising I happened upon this event while attempting to buy tickets for Il Divo. Absolutely none of my friends, who love Mat Kearney, knew he was even going to be in town. Matter of fact after the concert we met some friends out in town who were disappointed that itthe event was not well promoted. Considering how amazing Mat's music and talent for songwriting is, I would have expected a larger crowd. The promoter failed him! That's a lot of lost revenue. 2. Lighting Absolutely the worst lighting at the venue. The only luck thing was that Mat was wearing a white shirt and therefore could be see in pictures (and I was not using the small point and shoots either). The stage and the rest of the band were in darkness. I attempted to approch officials at the venue to correct this with no success.

  • Mat K.

by MJMJ on 7/12/09Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! The Beaumont club is an intimate setting but he played it well. The sound and vocals were spot on for a live show and he played a good mix of old and new songs.

  • Great Show!

by BeccaKS on 7/12/09Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

I'm not a concert-goer, and this show quite possibly changed my mind about going to live shows. The music was well played, and Mat was very entertaining.

  • Mat Kearney ROCKED!!!!

by OBrien on 7/10/09The Intersection - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

We saw Mat Kearney in Grand Rapids and he was unbelievable!! Had a blast, got to meet him backstage before the show and that was an awesome surprise! He and his band seem really down-to-earth and their talent is amazing! The music industry needs more artists like this with a variety of songs and musical talent. Can't wait to see him again so hopefully they'll return to Grand Rapids! :)

  • Awesome evening!!!

by jimmi on 7/9/09The Intersection - Grand RapidsRating: 4 out of 5

Great venue! Sound mix was super! Mat was very good. I can't wait to see him again.

  • Mat Kearney was solid

by KMBKMB on 7/7/09The Intersection - Grand RapidsRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the show was exceptional. I thought they played hard and gave it their all. All of the band was sweaty by the end which tells me they went for it. A great show, for a really great price. I hope that more bands follow their lead and play some smaller venues...it was a very intimate setting, which went along with their style of music and entertaining.

  • Eric McCarley Rocked out

by Stevo on 7/6/09The Intersection - Grand RapidsRating: 4 out of 5

Mat Kearney did his thing. I bought these tickets for an event to surprise my wife with. There were no surprises during his show, and never interacted with the crowd other than to introduce his band briefly. Still was a pleasant show. Opening Act Field was too long, so I'm posting it here ---- Erin McCarley did an amazing job. I enjoyed her show, having to play along to a track because she didn't have a full band with her more than Kearney's. The raspy voice, the pixy-esque cuteness. She did a phenomenal job, and the beat-box version of doo-do-doo doo was surprising, fun, sexy, the whole thing. Only chill I got in my spine all night.

  • Mat was great; acoustics, not so.

by CrazyHorse on 7/6/09The Intersection - Grand RapidsRating: 4 out of 5

Mat's performance was worth the wait. Intersection's acoustics leave a bit to be desired. Bass was too much and vocals were drowned out. Not sure how they can improve it - maybe with some ceiling baffles of some kind.

  • Mat Kearney was Wonderful!!!

    by AMiracle520 on 7/4/09Bluebird Nightclub - BloomingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a huge fan of Mat Kearney for years and am so excited he is finally gaining a mainstream audience. I loved to small venue which allowed for Mat to headline. He put on an amazing show and showcased all his musical talents. He had a great time working the crowd. It was a truly wonderful time and I can't wait to see him live again.
