    Awesome sets

    by magster1045 on 4/30/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

The play was a little slow at first. The costumes and sets were great. Some repetition with the same songs. Added new things, not the totally Disney version, more like the book. Good for all ages. Maybe a bit long for small children.

    Disney Magic at its best!

    by ACB2604 on 4/30/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Mary Poppins was excellent once again. I saw the show when it was in Minneapolis a couple years ago and had to go again. It is always exciting to go to see a show where the actors are having as much fun as the audience. As a former Disney Cast Member seeing the magic that Disney can put on stage still takes my breath away. The entire Mary Poppins cast was amazing and I would LOVE to see them again.

    Mary Poppins was outstanding

by Ladyroxii on 4/30/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Outstanding production. Voices were great. Set was amazing. I was worried when at least four of the actors were subbed out, but iI can't imagine anyone else would have been better. My 8 year old granddaughter loved it too. She expected it to be exactly like the movie but she loved this production,

The set was great and most of th characters were good. I found Mary Poppins disappointing, her voicee was average and she wasn't exceptionally engaging.

    Mary Poppins

by Anonymous on 4/30/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

The show was very kid friendly. The production numbers, particularly Step in Time were really great. My primary complaint was over the sound. The orchestra consistently overpowered the voices during many of the musical numbers. That and I found the children particularly Jane, to be difficult to understand because their fake English accents were terrible. And the show felt about 20-30 minutes too long.

    Not Walt Disney's Mary Poppins

    by 4thefam on 4/30/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Mary Poppins at the Orpheum was an enjoyable event once I let go of expecting a Walt Disney production. However some of the storyline changes seemed to happen abruptly and without explanation- like the addition of Mr. Banks old nanny. New songs were added and words to old songs adapted, some eliminated. The biggest omission was the scene at Bert's uncles home with "I Love to Laugh". This would have been a fabulous inclusion to the the stage production. "Its a Jolly Holiday" made wonderful adaptations to include statues coming to life that fit with the storyline and was very entertaining. The children, Bert and Mrs. Banks were the highlights of the show with incredible voices and talents. Mr. Banks also did a fine job as a rigid, disengaged father that discovers the value in his family. I especially recommend this for families with young children, but I would not prepare for the performance by watching the movie as the story is a bit different. Instead, listen to the music. Those of us more familiar with the film should come with an open mind and ready to enjoy the adaptations. If you have seats further from the stage bring binoculars.

    Mary Poppins was amazing

by JodifromPriorLake on 4/30/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

The show was fantastic. The music, the dancing, the sets and special effects, the costumes and characters were unforgettable. It took me back to when I was a kid and sang all the songs doing dishes with my sisters. The only complaint is the lack of adequate women's restrooms. When you spend that much for an event, it would be nice to have working bathroom doors that lock.

    Mary poppins was very good

    by Austyn13 on 4/30/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

It was a little long. The orchestra was often too loud and you couldn't hear the singing. The children were a little difficult to understand. Maybe they could slow their conversations down. Otherwise it was colorful and Mary Poppins was terrific (the actress)!!

    A memory forever!

by Bystomatic on 4/29/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Saw play in New York and loved it, therefore gathered family to see it in Minneapolis. Everything was great but could not hear the two children. Their voices were whiny and could not make out any words. They were either over-miked or esp. the boy on Fri. nite, too high pitched. Sets were great, music and dancers phenomenal. Mary P and Mother were enjoyed very much. Burt walking up the wall and tap dancing on top were highlights. We truly appreciated the rewriting to be so family friendly. The father used moral principles and was rewarded for it. Fabulous rewrite on the ending. We couldn't have asked for a more fantastic evening for our grandchildren. Best to all of you involved with a wonderful play!

ALMOST Practically Perfect In Every Way!

    by MJE1n2 on 4/29/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Went to Mary Poppins with my adult daughter. It was a childhood favorite movie - for both of us. Wasn't sure what to expect... To be 100 percent honest... I didn't truly 'connect' with the actor portraying Mary Poppins. She did a fantastic job, but ... something was missing... There was the wittiness, the gentle arrogance..., but no ... "genuine warmth"... I just felt like I should have fallen in love with her character, and... I didn't. Discussing it later, I learned that my daughter and I both felt this way. We thought the actor who portrayed Mrs. Banks would have been a better 'fit' for Mary Poppins' character. This was the only thing that made this production (for us) less than absolutely perfect! That stated, it was still a FANTASTIC production. LOVED every other character and the group numbers were outstanding! Still quite glad we saw this as it was definitely worthwhile and worth the cost!
