About

Grammy-nominated Marvin Sapp credits the entirety of his pop culture success to his faith, a power that served as the sole inspiration behind his 2012 participation in the Kings Men tour — not to mention his best-selling 2007 release, Thirsty. After achieving success with this breakthrough album, Sapp proceeded to further spread his faith by pursuing a speaking tour, as well as a live recording of several fan favorites at churches and cathedrals across the country. Sapp’s performances has fans on their feet, swaying side to side to his slow, yet inspirational  lyrics. In 2009, the gospel singer followed up his huge breakthrough album by recording "Here I Am" live at Wyoming, Michigan's Resurrection Life Church. More recently, he's followed a similar concert album route with the release of "I Win," a touching collection recorded at Evangel Cathedral near Washington, D.C.

Although largely unrecognized until his 2007 spiral to fame, Marvin Sapp's musical career hails back to 1991, when he joined gospel group Commissioned as one of the lead vocalists and participated in three major albums as well as an extensive American tour. In 1996, Sapp broke away from Commissioned in hopes of launching a solo career, thus beginning the eleven-year journey that ultimately led to 2007's Thirsty. Since that first major record success, Sapp's achievements have included BET's Best Gospel Artist in 2008 and 2010, plus multiple Grammy nominations in 2013. His late 2013 plans included taking the same faith-based approach to music responsible for his many awards, album accolades and ticket sales, infusing the traditional gospel approach with his distinctive contemporary style.

  • Enjoyable

by Tashaboo on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the concert just not the venue. Was not happy when I found out that the seating chart was not for the coliseum. I truly wasn't expecting it to be in that small space since every gospel concert I've attended in the 2000s has been in the coliseum. But I will definitely pay close attention to the venue names following the "Crown "going forward.

  • Enjoyed the performers.

by Gospel Fan 64 on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 2 out of 5

The performers did some limited songs from their catalogs. I was in the bleachers and it was extremely loud. There is blocked view of performers from the speakers hanging down. The ticket takers did not have any true way to get us in efficiently. There was very limited security. I would not have paid $90 for this concert if I had known.

  • Disappointed

by Dizzy on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 1 out of 5

The acoustic was awful we had floor seats and could not see anything. The venue needs to be updated.

  • Wow what an experience

    by 1st experience on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 4 out of 5

This was an amazing event. I wish I would have had closer seats. With it being my first time I really didn’t know what to expect but overall it was great. I enjoyed every singer

  • Horrible sound

by Kpattski on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 2 out of 5

I was very disappointed when I pulled into the parking lot to find out this concert was not being held in the actual Arena but at a smaller facility. I thought with the caliber of artist performing the experience would have been better. The sound system was horrible. There were huge speakers in the front of the stage on both sides which blocked our view from seeing the artist. I will never attend another show there!

  • Mother's Day Concert

by Maniett on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 3 out of 5

I think the Overall Concert was okay. It could have been better the sound was horrible. The first two perfomers you couldn't understand anything they were saying and singing. But when Marvin Sapp and Tasha Cobb came on the sound was much better but not crisp. The next concert please make sure they have a good sound check before the concert starts.

  • Not That Impressed

by Lady One of a Kind on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 3 out of 5

Marvin Sapp didn't sing a lot of his famous songs, he didn't do as well as I expected and complained saying that he was too old for this... he wasn't on his best performance. Tasha Cobbs should have been before him. She did great!Along with the Clark Sisters, who did their thing. We missed a little of Jekaylyn Carr, but she performed well also from what we had seen.Marvin should have been last. Also, people were not sitting in their correct seats. I don't know why some people can't follow directions, it makes things easier. We had some people to sit in our seats when we arrived there and they acted like they didn't want to move....like wow, just do things the right way. But it was good overall.

  • Pocketbook Policy At Events

by Jp on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 4 out of 5

People had to walk back to there car. Because they didn't know the policy. We need to know the policies for the event venue. Whether it's clear, sizes and etc. That will be a great help to the people that come to these events.

  • It was ok

by Erica on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 4 out of 5

The sound system in the building wasn’t that great the speakers should be moved out of viewers way

  • Poor

by Crumb on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 1 out of 5

Lines too long before doors opened Poor sound system, couldn’t hear the lyrics of artists

  • Mother’s Day Concert

by Toot Toot on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was breathtakingly beautiful, each performer delivered an inspired performance, and it made my Mother's Day celebration even more special. The music touched my heart and moved me to tears. I would give anything to experience it again.

  • Sound Issues

by MT on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 2 out of 5

I was extremely disappointed with this concert. The sound for this concert was horrible to the point that we've weren't able to even hear the lyrics. It does not appear that sound checks were conducted prior to the start of the event. I would not attend another concert in this venue.

  • Was ok, things could have been better

    by Goldnlady76 on 5/13/24Crown Arena - FayettevilleRating: 3 out of 5

First let me say that the artists at this event were phenomenal. The biggest issue was that literally everyone thought the concert was going to be at the newer facility adjacent to the one that the concert was in. The facility is SUPER old, cramped, and the sound system was horrible. Not worth the ticket price. I will not return to anything there unless it is in the newer facility.

  • Different

by Lon on 11/11/22The Louisville Palace - LouisvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Sound too loud or speakers couldn’t hear the lyrics being sung. Just a little overwhelming and it could be cause I haven’t been to a concert in some time. As for Mr. Marvin I will give him a B+

  • The Sound over powered the artist.

by JC on 11/3/22The Louisville Palace - LouisvilleRating: 3 out of 5

LeAndria, should of never been brought on the stage. Her management knew her circumstances prior to the concert. Promoters have to do better

  • Awesome time!

by Carla on 11/1/22The Louisville Palace - LouisvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Had a really good time. Much respect for Min. Sapp for the way he handled an awkward situation at the concert at the Louisville Palace this past Friday.

  • I was very disappointed

by Mollie on 11/1/22The Louisville Palace - LouisvilleRating: 2 out of 5

I was very appalled first that alcohol was served at a gospel concert. Now I am not saying that alcohol cannot be served at certain venues, but for a gospel concert we did not need any extra false spirits at this concert. I was also undone with the performance of Ms. Johnson. I felt like she was under the influence and should have been pulled from the performance when it became apparent that she could not do what I paid to see. People were booing her and screaming for her to sing. The fact that she made a comment that "she did not come to perform" was an indicator that she should have been stopped instead of allowing her to go on for more than an hour with nonsense. Marvin Sapp came out and did address the concern that everyone was thinking. That is not good enough. He then went on to perform using track music which I did not appreciate. I think I paid too much money to listen to a performer who used track music. When you hear the guitar and then see that the guitarist is not even strumming you know it is track music. My 4 tickets for 310.00 dollars was a real waste.

  • Praise

by Nursebee on 11/1/22The Louisville Palace - LouisvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Mostly everyone did a fantastic job, except L. Johnson, not going to judge but she really needs our prayers right now may God strengthen her and help her in her time of need. Marvin Sapp More than made up for it and the speech that he gave along with the prayer that he prayed show me that he is a true man of God.

  • Enjoyed the singing.

by Debbie on 10/30/22Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

I wish Marvin would have used background singers,. The bass in the recordings was too loud and hard sounding. I also don't think beer and wine should have been sold in the lobby. It was a Gospel concert, disrespect to those of us who truly serve God..

  • No Background Singers

by PSmith on 10/30/22Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 2 out of 5

They dressed like they just off the tour bus and Indy was a rehearsal. Le'Andria put on fuzzy purple house slippers and her outfit was horrible but she did have background singers. We were just a rehearsal, quick stop for them. Marvin didn't even have background singers. So disappointing and his too tight shirt, jeans and sneakers. Never again will I go see either one of them.
