About Marty Stuart
Marty Stuart in Concert
There's not an ounce of artificiality in Marty Stuart's stage act, but you'd better believe he puts on a show. He's a natural-born entertainer who started learning about live performance by backing country music legends. As a bandleader he exudes an effortless grace that makes the music live and breathe. Stuart's got guitar chops for miles and once he digs in he doesn't mess around, but he also knows how to get a crowd psyched up in a completely organic way to amp up the fun. When he travels with his band The Fabulous Superlatives, a true country music wrecking crew of top-tier players, Stuart loves to turn on a dime from hard-charging honky-tonk roof raisers to gentle acoustic ballads, keeping the crowd in the palm of his hand every step of the way.
Marty Stuart Background
With a rich, varied career that stretches back to the '70s, there's not much Marty Stuart hasn't done. He's been a blazing-hot bluegrass guitar picker, a country-rocking rebel, a roots-conscious neo-traditionalist, a Nashville hitmaker and Johnny Cash's right-hand man. First and foremost Stuart has emerged as a keeper of the country music flame, championing authenticity above all and forsaking trendiness in favor of a deep-down country spirit. He got his start playing with bluegrass legend Lester Flatt while just a teenager, and went on to work with Johnny Cash's band, but by the end of the '80s he was a country star in his own right. He lit up the charts with hits like "Tempted," "This One's Gonna Hurt You (For a Long, Long Time)" and "Hillbilly Rock." In later years he became a standard-bearer for classic country, mixing it with rock and folk influences as the muse demanded, achieving what amounts to the truest form of Americana.
Totally first class entertainment. The musician ship, the harmonys, the talent, the pickin, the show! I LOVE this band!
It was a great concert and each musician was a stand alone musician, top quality. They each had their time in the limelight and played a wide group of songs. Each guy was so talented and together, they were fabulous. Would recommend them to anyone. So glad we were able to see them.
It was another great night a H-S place. Marty and the superlatives delivered. Great show from start to finish
Marty Stuart & his Superlatives were great! They are all great musicians and put on a great show! We really enjoyed the concert.
I've seen Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives many times. The venue at TempleLive in Fort Smith, AR was perfect. Small, but beautiful and good acoustics. Marty never disappoints with his music. The only thing I missed was his mandolin solo.
Mr. Stuart was amazing with his blend of music and storytelling. Next time he’s close to Des Moines we’ll be getting VIP package tickets. I say ‘close’ as I would travel to see him again.
High energy performance by Marty and the Fabulous Superlatives. Would see it again tomorrow!
Great performance! Talented group in singing and playing their instruments. Would definitely watch them again live. Have always enjoyed watching them on TV.
Best 4-piece band I have ever heard live. The harmonies were other worldly and Marty Stuart was all I hoped he would be after being a fan for many decades. The TempleLive was the best venue ever!! 5 stars all the way around!!!
The time flew by as they performed for an excited audience. The Temple was a perfect place to enjoy a fantastic band. Would love to see them again at Ft Smith. Great interaction with audience and songs! The band all preformed songs to highlight their individual talent. Marty Stewart is a true legend and performer. (Looking forward to his next show)
Great Show - Sounded Great Nothing Negative about the Band. However, It was very Stuffy & Too Warm in the Venue - No Air at all -
I have seen Marty and his Fabulous Superlatives many times! They never disappoint! They sure brought it this time! The best I have seen from them. Amazing! Fabulous! A show you will not forget!!
Treated respectfully by every single person working there that we talked to. Very good show at a very good price. No complaints.
The concert- talent, acoustics and facility were amazing! Look forward to more concerts there soon!
Just like tv. They were great. Great venue, easy access. Definitely will be back.
Venue was older and in the downtown area. Amenities were good. The only thing i disagreed with was no photos or videos. Had to pay an extra $15 to park across the street. I attend a lot of concerts and the majority of the artists allow pictures and videos on their cell phone. I pay good money to attend a concert and should be able to leave with a few photos as i don't get to see some artists very many times in my lifetime.
Saw him 30 years ago in Nashville and he was great. This show was even better. Great, classy performer and the fabulous superlatives stole the show
Country music according to Ken Burns was on full display. As a noted jazz artist put it "it's the stories."Outstanding musicianship and being entertainers was always part of country music and is still here in this show.
Marty and the Fabulous Superlatives are aptly named. Four virtuosos playing music spanning 80 years from Bob Wills to their latest album. The show was one big highlight but if forced to pick, highlights were: Kenny's ridiculous guitar work on "Hot Like that', the new "Sitting Alone"Byrds-like tune, Marty on "Six White Horses", Harry's "ballad of Easy Rider' , Chris leading them through a bluegrass take on "Wipeout", and everyone on "El Paso". Wilbur is a great venue for them.
I’ve seen Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives 4 times and they never disappoint. They are all amazing musicians and singers! Marty is a generous performer, and allows his band to shine!
