I thoroughly enjoyed Evita. Captivating all the way thru, such talented entertainers!
My background: I originally saw Evita on Broadway in NY in 1982, then bought the Original Broadway recording with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin. Though this wonderful recording, my family and I became huge Evita fans. We saw a few touring groups after that, then enjoyed the 2012 revival on Broadway in NY in June and again in September 2012, followed by another "Broadway Across America" touring group in 2014. After reading a raving review for the Lincolnshire Marriott Theater EVITA in the Chicago Sun Times, we attended a May performance and were blown away. The orchestra was fantastic, top notched dancing, powerful chorus, powerful and emotional singers and actors "Che" and "Juan Peron." Hannah as "Evita" did very well although may not have been the best Evita I have seen, but was close. Plus the seating arrangement in this small theater allows for a very intimate experience. We could hear every word spoken, a rarity in many theaters. My husband and I came back for a second performance on June 3rd, bringing along two relatives who had experienced two past "Evita" s with us. We were again blown away, all amazed and thrilled with this show, agreeing this surpassed the NY Broadway performances we had experienced.
Extremely good actress and actors amazing good performance
What a wonderful interpretation of Evita. Fast moving and seamless. Strongly recommend it.
I have seen many productions of Evita and this one ranks at the top. The close stage of the Marriott demands great performances of the performers, and in this production they certainly delivered. I enjoyed the show very much. If you've seen Evita before, you will enjoy it again. If you have never seen Evita, go see it now.
Evita is a favorite of mine and I was not disappointed in this production. I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that although this is a theater in the round, the target seemed to be across from where we were seated and I felt like the actors (especially the person who played Che) could have aimed toward every side. That said his performance was amazing as were the other actors.
Excellent. Singing wonderful, music and staging fantastic.
We had a great dinner at the Kings Wharf, then went over to the show. We sat in the first row. There was a lot of movement in and out of the theater, which made for a great performance, the singing, acting and staging were wonderful. I would highly recommend this performance.
Great choreography, wonderful musical performance. The actor that plays Che was probably one of the best performers I've ever seen. While I don't normally visit a lot of musicals, this particular performance is definitely making me reevaluate that decision and I'm looking forward to seeing another production at this theater. The 'around-the-stage' seating arrangements were great. While I thought it might be awkward considering we'd be staring at the backs of the actors a lot, it was actually quite the opposite. The main characters made it a point to face different quadrants during their acts and I don't think I missed anything throughout the whole show. In fact that particular positioning made it feel more like I was watching actual events happening before me.
Excellent singing, dancing and acting. A very entertaining evening. Possibly a little too long. The end could have been shorten.
