About

Marianas Trench in Concert

Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.

Marianas Trench Background

Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

  • Incredible!

I find myself still thinking about the concert days later and smiling to myself. The arrangement, the energy, the vocals...it was everything! If I could follow them on tour and listen every night I definitely would! Also, another 5 stars for having 2 FEMALE opening acts. Piao and Cassadee Pope were also amazing and added so much to the experience. Hope to see everyone on tour again soon!

My first concert EVER and Marianas Trench is one of my most favorite bands. They put on such an amazing show and I hope they come back Atlanta soon.

  • The greatest concert ever

by Audie on 9/24/24Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The opening acts were top notch, the stage was visually pleasing, the music was out of this world, and the band was just amazing. The crowd knowing all the music really added to the night and made it magical. 11/10

I loved hearing Marianas Trench live again! They sounded awesome, and all the fun lighting and other effects really added to the experience. I love the vibe of House of Blues and how it feels intimate and like we’re really all a family having one big shared experience. I’m glad the band was feeling better to be able to open their tour in Orlando! Thanks for rocking with us!

  • Fantastic band and fans!

This was my first Marianas Trench concert and it will be the first of many I hope. The band was amazing live, their performance was flawless and engaging. The fans at the show were incredibly nice and engaged. Everyone was singing along and grooving and having a great time. PIAO and Cassadee Pope, the openers, were wonderful as well. Hope to see them again, too!

  • 10/10 as always

Marianas Trench did an amazing job! This was my first time seeing them and honestly they could have had a larger venue, but regardless they were absolutely fantastic. I will definitely be seeing them again! I also loved both of the opening acts as well. This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. For context I have been going to several concerts year since I was 7 and I am now 33. They all really did a great job!

  • Really bad sound

by Kass on 12/3/23Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 1 out of 5

I have been to a couple of their concerts and loved every single one prior to this one. You could barely hear the lead singer when he sang over the acoustics. Although it seemed like they wanted the crowd to do most of the singing anyways. I have never left a concert early but after an hour we did leave because the sound was so bad. I was left really disappointed as I love this band and was really looking forward to this event.

The music and the harmonies were great as expected. I have been a follower of MT for many years. Well done.

We had a fantastic time and marianas trench was simply amazing!!!!

  • Fantastic but also a little disappointing

by ChelsEll on 11/28/23Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

The band was great, the sound was a little off but the crowd had a great time! My frustration was with the venue. All the workers were fantastic and so helpful. When ordering tickets, there was no mention of the venue not being wheelchair friendly. I had got tickets, and my boyfriend would have had to climb 15 stairs to get up to them (he can’t walk), so they accommodated us on the floor in the last row. Thank god for the screens because he wouldn’t have been able to see anything with everyone standing up. Just frustrated with the fact that I could have got better seats for him if I knew the venue was tiered. Some sort of area for people in wheelchairs, where they could see the stage, would be awesome in the future.

I quite literally travelled from NJ to see MT in Orillia this weekend. Somehow the stars aligned and I got to meet them all before the show. I sat at dinner next to Ian and Matt! And they so graciously allowed me to gush and take photos with them. They are so humble and just damn good people. The show was beyond anything I ever expected! I danced and laughed my butt off. Genuinely had a phenomenal time. They sound even better live than they do on record. Thanks, boys! XOXO

  • Disappointed

    by 80044 on 11/27/23Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 2 out of 5

Josh Ramsay has an amazing voice which is why we were so excited to see him live. Unfortunately with the exception of the very last song we found he only sang about 50% of the lyrics in any given song. The 50% he did sing was drowned out by the instruments. Still love the band but disappointed as a fan from that experience.

  • Fantastic

Loved every beat. The energy. The talent. The crowd. It was everything I was waiting for the last 15 years…

This is the 3rd time seeing them live. The concert was electric from start to finish. Hopefully next time it won’t be a few years to see them again.

  • Marianas Trench was AMAZING, sound system needs work tho

by Kyla on 3/27/23River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5

The show was AMAZINGGGGG my first marianas trench concert, and it was EVERYTHING! Josh even spotted me out in the crowd, which made me SO HAPPY! The sound system can use some work though! It was a bit fuzzy, and sometimes unable to hear the songs, but im still happy with the outcome of the concert😁❤️
