About

Marianas Trench in Concert

Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.

Marianas Trench Background

Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

  • Marianas Trench was an incredible show.

by Muzikchic on 2/28/23Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I just want to say the way Josh performed after being hit in the face with his guitar just shows how incredible that band is at performing for their audience. The atmosphere was on fire. Josh going into the crowd and singing with us made the concert so personal.

Small show but the performance was epic! It was my 10 year olds first concert and he loved it so so much! Great energy, they put it all into it. Hope they make their way back here soon!!

  • Amazing Energy!

by Tasha on 9/21/21Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Despite the venue being outdoor and it pouring rain for most of the show the bands energy and love of being on stage still translated. Josh even came out and sang in the rain instead of staying under cover. They put on a great show as usual and made my first concert back in a year and a half so worth it.

  • The band is better than every never skipped a beat

by MARIANAS DRENCH (WE GOT MAJOR RAINED ON) BUT THE SHOW MUST GO ON AND IT WAS FABULOUS on 9/21/21Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

They played all the favorites, made the whole crowd happy. Young and old.... it was a great time...the crowds sang with the band, the band let the crown sing on their own...very cool...

This was the first time I had the pleasure of getting to see Marians Trench, and I was just as blown away as I thought I would be. I am thankful for this band and thankful they came to our city.

  • LOVED IT

by bluedinoco on 10/2/19House of Blues San Diego presented by Cricket Wireless - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Marianas Trench has been one of my favorite bands for a while now, and I'm so glad I finally got to see them in San Diego. The show was even better than I hoped it would be. The Unlikely Candidates were a great opener and the pre-show DJ was the best I've heard so far. Definitely recommend going to see a Marianas Trench show if you have the chance.

These guys really know how to put on a show. Their voices are amazing. Even took pictures after show was over with their fans. Its good to see a band take the time to say hi on a personal level with their fans.

  • Perfect end to a perfect date

by R on 10/2/19Brooklyn Bowl at the Linq Promenade - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was the cherry on top to a great day overall. Couldn’t have planned a better night anywhere in Vegas. The music was fun, drinks were strong and delicious, people were exciting, venue was entertaining and the tickets were a steal. The only downside was we got lost trying to find parking but now we know better for the future. Can’t wait till they come back into town!

by Josie on 9/25/19Delmar Hall - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I love Marianas Trench. I have seen them 4 times now (counting this one) and every time they are amazing. The show is always so fun and interactive. I enjoyed the venue as well. This was my first time at the Delmar Hall. It was pleasantly spacious and had more seating then I expected. So all in all I give this experience a 5 out of 5.

This was the second time my sister and I saw Marianas Trench in concert, and both times have been absolutely amazing and unique. Josh came down into the crowd and everyone in the band was extremely energetic as well. I highly recommend anyone come see Marianas Trench, you won't regret it!

  • Fun show

by Simpletay on 9/21/19Mercury Ballroom - LouisvilleRating: 4 out of 5

4 stars due to the mics were not at a good volume, and made it hard to hear any voices. But the main band was a lot of fun and put on a good show! The openers.....not so much.

  • Fantastic

I’ve been listening to this band since like 2010. It’s the first time I’ve seen them live. It exceeded my expectations. I loved the small venue, it made it feel really intimate. I do wish they had played more of their older songs.

Marianas Trench puts on an awesome concert! Their energy on stage is incredible, and their sound is mindblowing. Josh interacts with the audience and actually goes into the crowd while singing. It's a nonstop 90 minutes of fantastic music, great musicians and a band who really appreciates their fans. I've seen Marianas Trench twice and love them and wish they would tour more often because I can't get enough of their music!
