About

Marianas Trench in Concert

Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.

Marianas Trench Background

Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

  • AWESOME

    by Cat M. on 10/18/24Summit - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 2nd time at the Summit, both times for Marianas Trench!! We had a great time!!! The staff is super friendly and helpful. It was a very welcoming environment. Fellow concert goers were nice and respectful as well, which always helps make a positive experience. And of course the music ROCKED!!! The effects were amazing. Even from further back, we could still see everything really well. This was my youngest daughters first concert (she's 13) and I could not have asked for a better experience for her!! I will definitely be coming back to the Summit and to see Marianas Trench again!! I love how they interact with their fans and how Josh makes his way around the crowd. We actually got to see Ian, Mike, and Matt while we were waiting to get inside. They walked right in front of us to get in the building. AMAZING!!!!!

  • Excellent experience

by Lea on 10/15/24Fillmore Minneapolis presented by Affinity Plus - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Great venue, phenomenal bands, and incredible performances by all. The crowd was energetic but respectful. I had my teenage daughter in tow and at no point during the show did either of us feel our safety was at risk. My only complaint is they did not allow re-entry, so we were not able to step outside to cool off between sets.

  • Such amazing energy and music!

First time seeing Marianas Trench and I'm already looking forward to the next time!! The band has such amazing energy and puts on a great performance. Openers, Piao and Cassadee Pope, were also fantastic!

  • Definitely worth seeing!!!

  • Marianas Trench

by Riley S. on 10/12/24House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The house of blues is always a spectacular place to go! I had purchased VIP on seven rooms and it never disappoints. I had a great time with my friend and after coming here, I will absolutely be going back.

  • Long Worthy Time

    by babs95 on 10/11/24The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

It was interesting to wait to get into the venue and then standing for over 5 hours long. But, Marianas Trench was amazing to listen to! They sounded so similar to their album and would definitely go back to see them again!

  • High Energy Concert

by Mady’ Dad on 10/11/24GLC Live at 20 Monroe - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Great venue! Marianas Trench filled it with tons of energy, wonderful vocals and fantastic light show! I’ll be there with my daughter the next time they’re in town.

  • Best concert I’ve been too

by Elicia on 10/11/24GLC Live at 20 Monroe - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best concert I’ve been too. I’ve seen some pretty big names at bigger venues and Marianas Trench blew all of them out of the water. The energy, the stage presence, the vocals, everything was AMAZING! Will definitely be seeing them again live.

  • Never disappoints

  • Force Pf Nature Tour

by Trencher on 10/9/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Saw Marianas Trench this past Saturday on October 5, 2024 for the third time since 2016 and might I say the band doesn’t disappoint. They were incredible & all the songs they played were awesome new & old songs. Would definitely recommend this band for sure.

  • Incredible Performance!

  • Cool!

by AmElle on 10/8/24The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

This was a very fun show I can say they’re one of the bands I hope to see again in the future !

  • VIP Hostage Situation

    by Julie M on 10/8/24The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 2 out of 5

The band was AMAZING! The VIP experience was not. We were basically held hostage in an outside fenced off concrete section of the venue in scorching heat. We were not allowed to leave the venue even to go to our car (why did we have lanyards?) we were told to arrive at 3 and band went on at 9 - meet and greet and q&a done by 4:30. NO food available at the venue. People were getting Uber eats thrown over the fence. Very poorly executed. Lots of unhappy “VIPs”.

  • Fun!

by Kim on 10/8/24The Bluestone - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, and the guys are so much fun. Took my daughter and we had a great time, can’t wait for the next tour!

  • Amazing performance, amazing venue!

by Greatest show! on 10/6/24Roxian Theatre - Mc Kees RocksRating: 5 out of 5

Marianas Trench did not disappoint. Unbelievably talented. Great performance. The venue was also incredible. Just the perfect size that it felt intimate but also like a big show.

  • Always a good show!

  • We danced, we sang, we loved it!

by ItsMeKM on 10/6/24Roxian Theatre - Mc Kees RocksRating: 5 out of 5

Despite the fact that some lazy, boring attendees behind us felt it was necessary to hurl garbage at us because we stood and danced for the whole concert, we had an absolute blast. It’s been 5 years since the last time we got to see Marianas Trench in concert and they are still the most talented and most fun performers. They played so many favorites and sprinkled in some of their new music. All songs were upbeat and dance-worthy. This was our first time at the Roxian. Great venue! Acoustics were awesome, it was clean, all staff were great—highly recommend!! Looking forward to the next MT concert! PSA: if you don’t want to dance at a concert, watch it on YouTube from the comfort of your couch.

  • It’s the third of October, Marianas Trench came over

by Caitlyn_Creek on 10/6/24Roxian Theatre - Mc Kees RocksRating: 5 out of 5

It’s the third of October, you should come over! What a blessing to see Marianas Trench ON October 3rd! My forth time seeing them in Pittsburgh and this was by far my favorite venue. At past shows, I’ve been touching the stage and yet this was probably my favorite view of any of them. The Roxian did an awesome job hosting and Marianas Trench put on amazing show, as they always do! Thank you for blessing the city of Pittsburgh and please don’t want another 5.5 years to come back to see us!
