About

Marianas Trench in Concert

Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.

Marianas Trench Background

Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

  • Best night!

by iLovePockee on 6/9/13The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 5 out of 5

I loved Marianas Trench for sometime now, so when I found out that they were coming to Silver Spring, I freaked! It was such an exciting night, and their performance was absolutely wonderful! Josh's voice is so mesmerizing, and even better live due to all the crazy adlibs he does! I adore all of the members so much, and would die to watch them perform again in the near future!! Only disappointing things was some of the opening acts. Other than that, it was incredible!

  • Marianas Trench killed it!

Air Dubai and Marianas Trench were so amazing. I would pay mad money to relive that night

Great concert, really enjoyed the sound quality. Interesting line up choice, but I really enjoyed Ghost Town seeing as I've never listened to them before. Love marianas trench but as usual when I see them, Josh sometimes lacks the connection to the audience. Wish he would have spent more time talking instead of showing the videos that went along with the "story line" of the concert. Fillmore was a great venue like usual and Journey sponsored a decent show.

  • Marianas Trench was beyond words!

by wildfloweroses on 6/5/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The band was more fantastic live than recorded if that's possible. The headliners were awesome. The show never lost momentum and the set list was total perfection. It hit on a few old songs and a lot of the ones from the newest album. Marianas Trench certainly knows how to put on a good show and how to make intermissions between songs fun for us! They talked with us, but not too much and they were SO funny! It was an amazing show and anyone who hasn't been to one of their shows needs to go! Best show I've ever been to. If it was possible to love this band more than I already do, then I do. They were unbelievable and beyond what I expected. Amazing, amazing amazing show. The videos they played telling the albums story were also perfect.

  • Best concert since Aerosmith!!!

  • Mariana's Trench is AMAZING!!!!

by Anonymous on 6/3/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome performance. The VIP was worth the sound check and the signatures. Not to mention the free stuff and the air conditioned room we got to wait in before the concert started. The opening bands and Dj deserve a crazy shout out. They were just as pped and as good as marianas trench. The whole day was a blast and I would live to see them again!

  • This show rocked!

5 stars. The best concert I've ever been to. They always know how to put on a great show. Marianas Trench is very friendly too! VIP is highly recommended too if possible because the pre show and getting in the doors early is so fun! Go see this band, they are amazing!

  • Marianas trench did not dissapoint!

    by no1trencher on 6/3/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I knew MT was going to be just as awesome live (if not more awesome) and they were incredible. The opening bands were pretty catchy, especially air dubai. It was totally worth the 120 mile drive. every minute of it.

  • So much love for this band.

by classickatie on 6/3/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I've been waiting so long for Marianas Trench to play a headlining tour in the States and they did not disappoint in Atlanta! I recommend a VIP package (half the price of the Canadian one!) for access to soundcheck, meet and greet, and early access to the merch booth. The energy was fantastic - definitely check them out!

  • the best!!!

by mammabam on 6/3/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The entire event was great. The opening acts were surprisingly very entertaing; and then BAM, Marianas Trench, blew me away in so many ways! The show....WoW!, They are damn good at what they do! A professional and personal appreciation is I have for them ! After they show, they were so patient and down to earth.......I do realize that when the US,gets to know them better, they just simply won't be able to wait til the last person in line, has got a picture with them...wich is exactly what they did. Marianas Trench is so worth having to travel for.....I WILL do it again!

  • Marianas Trench can sing their pants off!

by Anonymous on 6/3/13House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Not too many acts sing as well as live as on the recording, but they are the execption, and exceptional! They stayed after for autographs and photos until every fan was satisfied. Mike and Ian were the friendliest and seem genuinely happy to be there and talk to fans. The others....meh. I feel a little gipped because we paid extra for the VIP meet and greet and they did not spend much time with fans for that. They also did not allow individual photos with fans for the VIP but did with everyone else after the show- go figure. We did, however, get a private mini concert before the show and early entry, so it was worthwhile IMO. Ghost Town was very good, very nice to meet them. Nice guys!

  • They were amazing, great sound and sweet!

by Carohlinee on 6/3/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The band sounds as great as their albums and they do not disappoint with an energy paled setlist and funny interactions with the fans. They stayed around and signed for everyone! A must see show! Must see!

  • Phenomenal show!

by Asdfghhjkl on 6/3/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The Noise Tour was my first time seeing a DJ live, and DJ Protector did not disappoint. He did all he was able to in order to get the crowd excited and moving. The next opener, Ghost Town, also had very nice crowd interaction. They brought up a girl on stage during one of their songs and let her sing with them. At the end of that song, they also gave her two drumsticks! I just imagined my favorite band doing that for me and how happy it would have made me. I thought it was absolutely awesome. Then, Air Dubai preformed. They had smooth raps and vocals. Honestly, the lead singer's voice reminded me of Usher. Very talented bunch, and probably my favorite opener. As for the headlining act, Marianas Trench, this was my first time seeing a legitimate preformance by them, and they were phenomenal! They had wonderful theatrics, hilarious stage talk, and, of course, wonderful sound. They played full band, and acoustic for one song. Vocals were spot on, as were the instrumental parts. I would attend one of their shows again in the future, without a doubt!

  • MARIANAS TRENCH WAS FREAKING PERFECT!

    by samarama77 on 6/3/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Marianas Trench along with Ghost Town, DJ Protector, and Air Dubai were off the charts. I could not imagine anything better to have spent $125 on. All the bands actually interacted with the crowd, and The Masquerade couldn't have been any cooler; maybe if it had air conditioning, it would be cooler. Anyways, I loved the show and would love to see Marianas Trench again and again and again!

  • Marianas Trench was AMAZING!!

    by Crazyforyou579 on 6/3/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic job! These guys really know how to please a crowd! Please bring them back!

  • An amazing experience!

by MBPT on 6/2/13House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I was so excited to see them in concert after being a fan for a few years. They definitely did not disappoint! Josh Ramsey is crazy talented and a joy to watch perform. The whole band seemed like they were having a blast. The House of Blues was a great venue and felt very intimate. Can't wait til they're in the area again!

  • FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

by cboy1989 on 6/2/13House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I literally had THE BEST NIGHT EVER!!!!!!! I seriously love Marianas Trench and this was probably the best setting to see them in. I wasn't right in front, but I was close enough to feel like I was right there with them. And at the end I met the drummer and got a picture with him. The opening acts were good and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. But I think this was more due to the act, Marianas Trench, than the venue itself!!!!

  • by Anonymous on 6/2/13House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Seriously so great! Loved the whole set! It took awhile to actually see the set but when the came on they rocked the whole time!
