Marianas Trench in Concert

Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.

Marianas Trench Background

Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

    The venue was small but it made it such a better experience! Josh Ramsay literally picked us out of a crowd. Apparently I married the whitest dancer on earth according to him. The drinks were a little strong but we kept going back for more. Great service, the opening band was also amazing. Would definitely go there again for any concert!!!! We were in the back and still had a great view! I love that the bands interact with their fans!

    Great lively and energetic show all around. To be honest, I attended the show mainly for the opening act, Secret Someones, who I've seen and met a couple of times before. I believe they are headed for major stardom and I wanted to be a part of the beginnings of their climb toward it. They happen to be excellent songwriters, musicians, and vocalists. I did not know the featured act, Marianas Trench, all that much when I booked the ticket, only having heard their music only occasionally before. But I found them to be very accomplished musicians and vocalists and good live performers. Although they are not what I typically listen to musically, they were very entertaining.

    They are amazing to see live and they had a really good opening band ( secret someones). This is the first time at that venue but i would certainly go again.

    Absolute best band, hands down!!! Josh was amazing. The band puts it all out there. If you like queen, rock, and everything in between you'll fall in love with this band. Not only are the instrumentals all out, the lyrics and emotion in their singing will affect you. If it takes a year for a stadium concert in the U.S., that's sheer injustice. This isn't just your kid's rock band.

    There aren't words to describe how amazing the concert was. After 8 hours in the sun we were starting to wilt but the limited the first guitar strummed, we felt the wave of joy that Marianas Trench creates every time they take the stage.

    This was basically one of the best nights of my life, I'd do it all again 50 times over if possible. All three bands were astounding and super sweet when I got to meet them after the show. The venue was also spacious and clean.

    I've been a Marianas trench fan for quite some time now, and I honestly was blown away at how amazing they sounded live. I managed to get VIP tickets and the guys were really down to earth and interacted with our group in such a fun way. the opening acts were amazing. While I didn't particularly care for AirDubai, I thought they had a great stage presence. Ghost Town was phenomenal, and I officially am in love with Kev Ghost. As for MT? I was able to find myself a spot right against the barrier and I'm so glad that I did. The guys interacted with the crowd and they were right on. One of my favorite concerts to date. After the show, the guys came out and met with the crowd, talking to many of the fans. I can't wait for them to come back to the states again

    Marianas Trench is one of my favorite bands, and this concert was just unforgettable. The small venue had us all be so close to each other and to Josh. When everyone was jumping, you could feel the floor bend and bounce. The sound was incredible. I spent all of the next day lying in bed with heat pads on me because of constantly jumping and dancing around.

    This was my first time seeing this band live. I was thrilled with the live performance and how well they reacted with the crowd. As the last show of the tour, I was expecting a great show and I was not disappointed. The band put on an amazing show, from the opening song, to the finale, to the band coming out after and meeting fans. This was definitely one of my favorites by far.
