Marianas Trench in Concert

Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.

Marianas Trench Background

Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

Beyond doubt one of the most amazing shows I've seen. There was a backstory and the theme was dark but still whimsical and true to Trench's humorous nature. Would definitely see them again.

Marianas Trench, Down with Webster and Anami Vice all put on an amazing show. They all involved the audience very well. It was an awesome show and look forward to going again. Took our daughter and she said she "...had the best time ever." Absolutely loved the show and have been recommending it to everyone we have talked to since the show.

Marianas Trench blew the MTS center away!!!

by MeetingYesterday on 10/24/12MTS Centre - Winnipeg

DWW did a really good job opening for MT. Once MT came out though the focus was stolen and everything was put on them. They gave the crowd so much energy and had us jumping on our feet, this one night that most of us will never forget. Thanks to DWW, and Josh Ramsay, Ian Casselman, Mike Ayley, and Matt Webb. Wish I was still living in that moment great job guys!

    EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!

    by CourtS44 on 10/21/12Métropolis - Montreal

Omg everything at the concert was amazing. I love how the boys came out back to sign autographs and take pictures with us. Please please please bring them back soon. Josh even asked my name :') I was close to the stage where it came out on the left and all the boys came very close at times. All I have to say is that it was the best day of my life <3

    josh ramsay is a god!

by juliamarguerite on 10/20/12Métropolis - Montreal

honestly, this was the best concert I've ever been to... and that's saying a lot considering I've been to quite a few over the past few years. it was theatrical without being cheesy, crazy without being too chaotic, and over all a great show. the album "ever after" kind of tells a story & that's how the concert panned out. between sets there were videos up on a big screen that entertwined with the lyrics of the songs, carrying the story forward. it was a really cool concept! afterwards, me and my friend waited for the band to come out after the show. we probably waited an hour with about a hundred other die-hard fans, but eventually they all came out and me and my friend managed to get an autograph from Matt!!!

    Marianas Trench killed it.

by RebeccaLL on 10/17/12Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

It was amazing. I didn't see Jesse Giddings cause I was waiting for a tshirt, but DWW was great live, theres a lot of people in that band. Marianas Trench was absolutely amazing, with their costume changes, and drums, and the fact that Josh was hanging from the freaking ceiling. Absolutely unforgettable.

The concert was AMAZING!!! I would love to see it again. Josh told jokes. The boys took their pants off. I've officially seen Matt shirtless and pantless :)

I am so happy I was able to Face The Music!

by JerseyTrenchGirl on 10/15/12Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

I haven't been a Marianas Trench fan for as long as I'd like to be but this was my second show, the first I traveled out of the US for. They put on an amazing show and really had some great stuff in store for us, just like we did for them with the porcelain hearts. You don't have to like the band to say that they put on a good show. They were fantastic and I loved it. I cannot wait to see them again!

I was totally looking forward to the main event which was amazing but Down with Webster was equally amazing. Both performers were awsome. One of the most energetic and entertaining concerts I have ever been to!

    Marianas Trench:)

by AlliTOP on 8/16/12Castleton Mall - Indianapolis

I went to a Marianas Trench concert on June 11th at Castleton in Indianapolis, Indiana. The band is very good live. They interact with the crowd as much as possible by talking out to them, throwing them items that belong to them, getting close to the edge, and meeting people outside the arena. I was lucky to get Mike's guitar pick:) I also got to meet and great with the band. They are very cool and laid back:) Josh also smells good:) It was a very good over-all experience:)

Went for Mariana's Trench and ended up loving The Fighting Jamesons and What Looks Like Crazy.

What Looks Like Crazy was perfect, The Fighting Jamesons were perfect, and Marianas Trench was beyond perfect. Three completely random bands but they all did great. Josh Ramsay was so funny and the band even came out afterwards and met all the crazy teenage girls. It was a great time.

Marianas Trench rocks a teenagers world!

    by g9stein on 6/11/12The Norva - Norfolk

I did not see the show, but I dropped off my 16 year old and three of her friends. When I picked them up they were on cloud 9! They loved all the bands and can't wait for the next Norva concert!!

    Marianas Trench is amazing!

by Karlew on 11/16/10DIRECT ENERGY CENTRE - TORONTO

I have never experienced a better show than this one. Once people stopped trying to rush the stage the atmosphere was great! Marianas Trench played every song from Masterpiece and a few from Fix Me. I don't even have words to describe how much I enjoyed this show. I'll be seeing them again every chance I get!
