Marianas Trench in Concert

Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.

Marianas Trench Background

Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

  • Go see these awesome Canadians!

by NMTrencher on 2/18/16Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

After being a Marianas Trench fan for a few years now, I finally got the opportunity to see them live! They are absolutely amazing live (Josh's voice and those acapella harmonies SLAY). The atmosphere of a Marianas Trench concert is extremely fun and friendly. I attend concerts very often and this was the most respectful crowd I have been in in a long time! Can't wait until my favorite Canadians come back to the U.S.!

  • Perfect valentines day!

The venue was great just right for a laid back concert. Josh (marianas trench's lead singer) did an amazing job of getting the crowd involved and hyped! I will definitely go see them again!

  • Amazing

by BNinMI on 2/17/16Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Marianas Trench is my 17 year old daughter's favorite band so of course we had to go. We did the VIP tickets and the whole thing was a great experience. Being in the front row was great and these guys did an amazing job of connecting with the audience. They are clearly great musicians as they sounded just like the recordings - but clearly singing too. I would actually look forward to going again!

  • Great Show, Disappointing Tickets

by NikoMan on 2/17/16Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 3 out of 5

Loved the band and everything while they were on stage other than they could have played one maybe two more slow songs to give a slight change of pace for the feel of the concert. But for the songs they played they sounded great and put on an awesome show. Giving it three stars however because of the tickets I purchased. The Meet and Greet VIP were very disappointing. Got a handful of pretty lame merchandise, they answered some questions, played only one song for the tune up, and even though I had purchased two tickets I was only given one picture with the band with both me and my girlfriend in it. Pretty bogus if you ask me. I would recommend seeing Mariana's Trench in concert for sure! Just don't dish out the extra money for the VIP tickets.

  • Loved it!

by Tammi777 on 2/16/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This event was well worth the 10 hour drive from Nebraska to Indianapolis! They were just amazing! The Old National Center was a beautiful theatre! Marianas Trench were gracious hosts and just wonderful to stay and meet fans. I was lucky enough to be a VIP and they spent time answering our questions which was a welcome surprise! The set list was a good mix of their albums. They played all my favorite songs!

  • Marianas Trench was spectacular!

This Marianas Trench concert was amazing! Their performance did not disappoint, and they even stuck around to meet with fans afterwards. The venue was good too!

Amazing show!!! It was my first time at the Egyptian room so I didn't realize it was such a small venue, but that made the show feel more personable with the band.

  • Marianas Trench - the best of the best

by mylifeisasoundtrack on 2/16/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

It's been a while since I have attended a concert that, from beginning to end, packs showstopping vocals, music and fun. This is an awesome band who deserves more success in the U.S. I have seen them more than once and their energy and passion for sharing their music is evident every time. The band has a great appreciation for their fans, and after each show, they meet the fans for photos and autographs. If you get the chance to see them, DO!

  • One of the best moments of my life!

by KatieB18 on 2/16/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

If you thought they were amazing in the studio, they're astounding live! Josh's voice and range is incredible and all the guys are so nice and engaged in their fans. I had VIP tickets and during the meet and greet they answered questions honestly and forthwith, like you were talking to a friend. I've waited years to see them and I can't wait until they come back because it was truly amazing! Entertaining, fun, and unforgettable.

Marianas Trench was fantastic! All the different guitars gave such a cool vibe to the show. The venue was perfect for the show, small but not boring, and the band was able to meet fans afterwards. Overall a great experience that I would definitely recommend!!

It was a small venue and standing room only...but boy you didn't need seats! Marianas Trench was amazing! Very personal and Josh came down into the crowd! Wow! The light show was amazing and the music was terrific. I think my daughter will become a concert junkie. This will not be her last!

I had the best night of my life seeing my favorite band. Their opening band was just as awesome as them, honestly the best concert I've been to

  • Marianas Trench 10/10

by Anonymous on 2/11/16Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Went with a group of friends to see our favorite band and they did not disappoint. The atmospheres was great, sound was phenomenal and they played an awesome set. The band was quirky and fun. I really enjoyed josh Ramsey's ridiculousness and stage presence. Vocals were as good as they get. After the show the band came out and met with everyone for pics and signatures. It was definitely a highlight getting to meet them with paying for VIP. Overall I can't recommend these guys enough.

  • Marianas Trench are incredible!!!!!!

Once again, Marianas Trench didn't fail to amaze. Their shows always have so much energy and this one was no exception. Josh Ramsay (the lead singer) always sings with so much emotion, and is great at keeping the audience involved in the show. Whether it's having a sing-along turned singing contest where he battles it out with the crowd, or coming out in the middle of the crowd and singing and dancing with people. They're a group of four incredibly talented guys and I definitely recommend going to one of their shows. They even came out after the show to hang out and take pictures with fans. They're just super cool, really nice dudes.

  • Marianas Trench was amazing!

    by Jojoespo62 on 2/3/16The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Marianas Trench for first time with my teenage daughter who adores them. The show was amazing. Love how they interacted with the audience. Josh went into the pit and even addressed the fans in the balcony all through the show. They even had some people in the audience come up and dance on stage. Was a smaller venue so had a great view. The greatest part was when they came out after the show to greet all the fans and took pictures with everyone there. I have become a fan of the band and can't wait to see another show.

Best show I've been to, they allowed fans on stage and the band went into the crowd as they performed. The staff was amazing and they even allowed the band to come out onto the floor after the show for pictures and autographs.
