In 2009, Mariah was recognized with the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Spring International Film Festival for her critically acclaimed role in Lee Daniels' "Precious." Mariah went on to appear in Daniels' stellar ensemble piece "The Butler" (2013).

A Congressional Award recipient, Mariah has generously donated her time and energy to a range of philanthropic causes near to her heart including Save the Music, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, World Hunger Relief, and the Elton John AIDS Foundation, among many others. A tremendous supporter of children's charities, both domestic and international, Mariah founded Camp Mariah in partnership with the Fresh Air Fund, a retreat for inner city children to explore career development.

    Mariah Carey was a disappointment!

by Rhomies on 1/1/10Madison Square Garden - New York

I went to MC's concert a few years ago in Atlanta and it was the best concert I have ever been to, so, I wanted to see her again. Not to mention, she is my favorite artist of all time. The concert started at 9:00pm but she did not appear until 11:00pm. Let me paint you a picture of the 2 hours before Mariah... 3 amateur rappers come out and perform for about 20 minutes and then there is a 20 min break. Trey Songz comes out and sings for about 30 min and there is another break. Then a DJ spins about for about 30 min which is followed by another 30 min break and then... MC finally comes out to a very disappointed (and angry) crowd. She "sings" for about 90min with a lot of talking in between songs and not to mention the technical difficulties. For an entire song, she did not even sing because her microphone was broken. The song just played while she stood there. The songs she did play were not the most popular songs and I actually did not even recognize one. After paying almost $300 for my tickets, I am VERY disappointed in MC. I still love her as an artist but she needs to start being good to her audience and fans.

    Preshow was too long

by astor on 1/1/10Madison Square Garden - New York

The preshow was way too long. I also didn't like the use of a DJ. as one of the preshow acts. I mean I am paying to go to a live concert so I would like to see live performances. The whole show was 3.5 hours long and Mariah performed about 1.5 hours. It was a long wait before she came on stage. I would have liked longer performances from her. I like her, her singing and her banter. However, I wouldn't recommend this unless you are a huge fan.

Hi, Actually I love Mariah, but the concert wasn´t good enough... I have been waiting for this concert for a long time an I´m dissapointed.. I am in NY for vacations (I´m comming from Colombia), and maybe yesterday was the only chance that I would have to be in one of her shows. She sang less than 45 minutes...

The concert was great, and Mariah Carey was absolutely amazing to listen ! She was the perfect entertainer to bring in the new year with and interacted with the crowd. However, there was lots of wait / downtime between acts and the opening act was a bit boring.

    Mariah Carey's Concert

by Ak13 on 1/1/10Madison Square Garden - New York

The show was great thanks to Mariah Carey's talent, but the sound was dreadful. The show should have been longer. I had a VIP gold package and the seats were very far away from the stage. I am a huge fan of Mariah Carey, and loved all the songs, the costumes and the scenography. I recommend the event!

Mariah kept us waiting for her to come out

by Jnasty on 1/1/10Madison Square Garden - New York

I've been to more entertaining concerts. She's a real diva. She kept us waiting for the longest before she finally came out. I love her voice, and if you go see her in concert that's what you will get. If you want more dancing and action, I'd suggest going to another concert, like Britney or Beyonce.

The delay in Maria comming on was intollerable. The concert lost its tempo and momentum. The inability of the ushers to control the standing people was in excusable.A standing cheer for a while is acceptable but not throught the concert. It could have been done easily done. It killed our enjoyment

She is still amazing singer. I have been a fan of Mariah Carey for over 10 years. I enjoyed this time with many fans! However, after we welcomed new year, I felt everything was messed up. Her singing was great, but performance was not enough. Except this, everything was fantastic! Trey Songz was also great, The first music he sang was my memorial song with my BF:) I enjoyed it!

    Disappointing

by Belle15 on 1/1/10Madison Square Garden - New York

I didn't realize Mariah isn't really much of a performer... she did nothing but stand in her heels and rock a little. There were tons of mistakes - and it was overall just a dud.

It was great. I'll never forget this New Year's Eve. Trey Songz did a great performance and so did Mariah. Her vocals are unbelievable. I liked how she talked to the audience a lot. I wish though she sang a bit more. The show ended great w/the confetti and balloons. Great experience and I'll never forget it.

    late start

by Nou32 on 1/1/10Madison Square Garden - New York

I was wondering why she did not come to the stage till 11 pm. Show suppose to start at 9 pm. I was there little after 8 pm. By the time, mariah carey came on stage, I was snoring. Her show was only 1 hour 1/2 half. It was disappointing. There was no choreographing for the last 1/2 hr. People just walking and dancing all kind of sort. Overall, it was not entertaining but good experience for me.

    AMAZING CONCERT!!

by ImperfectAngel2010 on 1/1/10Madison Square Garden - New York

The show was awesome! Forget all that talk about her voice isn't as good anymore, she sounded amazing! She hit all her incredible high notes -- she even sang "Emotions" with all those high notes at the end! The best part was the New Year's Eve celebration -- we counted down and there was this amazing display of pyrotechnics and confetti and balloons rained down from the ceiling. It was so wonderful to ring in the New Year with Mariah! I only wish the show had been a little longer -- she was only on for an hour and a half -- and that she did a few more of her hits, like "Vision of Love," which she didn't do. But she ended the show with "Hero" and that was amazing.

    Stay Home

by Gypsy78 on 1/1/10Madison Square Garden - New York

Mariah didn't come out till 11PM.Her show was very disorganized. She subjected you to over an hour of a horrible DJ screaming ridiculous sayings and blasting music before she came out. The opening act Trey Songz was good but it was downhill after that. Her past shows were so much better that this. Stay home and save your money.

Good show! She came on really late. Didn't like the 1st act. They were too High School. I wanted her to sing My All....
