    I love Maria Bamford!

by mamphilly on 5/22/14Wilbur Theater - Boston

I had been wanting to see Maria for years and was so excited to finally get a chance. She did not disappoint. Funny, awkward, silly, smart, hilarious... she's one of a kind. A must see!

Funny, awkward and awkward. Plus dead dogs!

    by thekeeper646 on 5/12/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I've been a fan of her records for the past couple of years, but this is the first time I saw her in person. She was everything I thought she'd be. Her voices were amazing (even better in person, if that's possible) and her stories are even more.... outrageous. You actually find yourself laughing at her ode to her passed pug given as a 1930's German siren. Yeah, somehow it works. She's so funny and odd, you'll find yourself laughing at some pretty serious stuff, and so glad she pieced it together the way she did. She's fantastic, and if you like odd-story-jokes, she is the one for you. Also, buy her albums.

    Maria Bamford certainly delivered.

by msjuddy on 5/12/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Really enjoyed the show and would have enjoyed it more with a more comfortable seat (see below) This was my first time seeing Maria live. I've only heard her on XM. She is really "out there" and quite brilliant.

Maria Bamford may be one of the few geniuses working in comedy today.

At the top of her game

    by gr8shoes on 5/11/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Maria Bamford is one of the best comedians most people have never heard of. She takes over the stage and works it beautifully. Her characters and storytelling gifts are wonderful and the time flies while watching her. She makes her points with humor and love and yet one never leaves a Maria Bamford show without thinking about it hours even days later. A true master of her craft and she just keeps getting better. Her personal style is unique in an age when most female comedians are focused on blow jobs Maria specializes in the human condition and does it it aplomb

Maria Bamford's humor was not funny.

by Babson on 5/11/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I had never experienced a show by Maria Bamford, and thought with the level of billing she received it would be fantastic. Her voice didn't carry well, as she whispered into the mike. I also didn't find her long farting routine to be funny at all....and I'm not a prude. It just wasn't funny. The saving grace...her opening act was truly much funnier and saved the night in my opinion.

    Maria Bamford Make-a Me Laugh!

Seeing Maria Bamford live was quite a treat. Physical as well as verbal comedy was in abundance, and her mastery of multiple character voices was amazing. Very likable and funny.

    wonderful

by Lnay on 11/12/13Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

The venue was very pretty, bonus if you like your beer in a sippy cup consumed in a church pew. The opener was very good, Maria gave me a cramp in my face from all the laughing. I'd give it 5 stars if the seating didn't make me loose all feeling in my lower extremities by the end of the show.

    Maria Bamford is consistently hilarious

by Enigma888 on 10/28/13Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

I've been a fan of Maria for awhile now and enjoy almost everything she does- guest spots on TV shows, podcast interviews, The Maria Bamford Show (YouTube it!), stand-up specials, etc. Her latest comedy act consists almost exclusively of new material, with a few old favorite jokes thrown in. She has a great stage presence and off-kilter energy that spreads throughout the room to engage the audience. I love her commentary on how people both view and experience mental illness. She somehow finds a way to make suicide, bipolar disorder, and other conventionally intense subjects seem accessible and excruciatingly funny by drawing on her personal experiences. Her comedy skills, honesty, and personal fortitude in the face of adversity make Maria Bamford an inspiration and well-worth the price of admission! P.S. ~ Jackie Kashian opened and was also awesome, as usual!

    Couldn't stop laughing

by ComicFangirl on 10/27/13Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

I brought three friends to the show. They all knew of Maria from tv appearances but had never seen her stand up. I'm a fan of her standup as well as her opener Jackie Kashian. I'm happy to say that they laughed all night long. I think both women were big hits. In fact, Jackie was so well received they kept her on stage longer than I think is typical for an opener. Very glad we made it out on a work night. The lost sleep was worth it!

    Maria Bamford great once again

by Anonymous on 10/25/13Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

This was a very good show. The host, Nato Green, is a headliner elsewhere, so this lineup was definitely higher than normal quality. The featured performer, whose name I unfortunately did not catch, was very good. Maria Bamford herself knocked it out of the park. Minor service issue. It took quite a while to get our first round of drinks; we were seated about 7:20PM for an 8:00PM show, and the drinks took 30 minutes to arrive. My food order didn't arrive till after the host took the stage. Our server did apologize, saying that the bar had been very backed up.

    Best for big fans

by htree on 10/25/13Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

I was super looking forward to this show - but it left me...feeling conflicted. I've seen/listened to a lot of Maria's comedy, so I thought I kinda knew what I was in for - but it was much harder to follow than I anticipated. I've watched a lot of comedy, and a lot of intelligent, "weird" comedy - but I don't know - I wasn't getting it. I wanted to laugh - I wanted it to be hilarious, but it just...wasn't hitting me that way. The friend I brought along didn't like it at all. Yet, while we were struggling to enjoy it - the rest of the crowd was laughing hard. We felt like we were missing something. Let's just say it was far from a classic standup act and difficult to follow. Maybe it was funnier for those who have seen her before and could keep up. The openers were good and salvaged our night with more classic acts. Nato was hilarious - his bit about "elves" was a riot. I hate giving this rating, but I gotta be honest. I think you needed to be a hardcore fan to enjoy this. I'm still a fan, but a bit more confused than before.

Bammer & Jackie Kashian AMAZING - service AWFUL

by Cixelsyd on 10/25/13Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

Maria Bamford is the funniest comedian working today and she killed it as per usual. I hadn't seen Jackie Kashian but she was outstanding. The host was crap and just made bad jokes about SF and right-wingers. Fine. Service at Cobb's = HORRIBLE. First time there. Nice venue. Got there at 7:15 and didn't get ANY service until 8:05 when I physically went to find a server. She was nice and told me she'd try to find our server but never could and ended up serving us. It's not like we were hard to find, either, we were on an aisle table in the middle of the venue. Get your act together Cobb's!

Maria Bamford is an amazing comedian with the astounding ability to be simultaneously ridiculous and inspiring. And it seems like she's writing a lot of new material recently, which is always exciting. I hope I get to see her again soon.

Maria Bamford Ain't What She Used to Be

by RubeHayseed on 10/25/13Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

I am an avid fan of Maria's. I saw her twice in one week where she brought down the house both times. Anyone who goes to see her is most likely there to see her impressions of the different archetypes in her life. The way she fluidly transitions from one character to another adds to her storytelling ability. This time around, her routine didn't feel as well crafted. It's a shame especially since I brought guests who were gracious enough to say they enjoyed the show but I can tell by the less than rave review they expected more. Her openers were excellent and had us clamoring for the main event. Unfortunately, Maria did not bring the heat this time. She was difficult to follow and her bits felt like filler. Nothing was cohesive and felt much less accessible. Granted she has a following and a lot of us there didn't need any set-up or preamble to know who her impressions were of but it was obvious as I scanned the crowd, a lot of folks were at a loss. To sum up, the show led me to three possible scenarios. Either Maria has stopped trying, has run out of juice, or has found a new line of logic, one in which I can't fathom or follow.

    Great Night!

by Bubblefairey on 3/10/13Punch Line Comedy Club - Sacramento - Sacramento

Maria was great! The two opening comics were good and connected well with the crowd, and left while they were ahead. Maria was dynamic, disguised the fact that she was feeling the effects of the flu, and kept a great energy with the audience. Her material, though I had heard it a few times times due to seeing her Special Special Special and hearing her Nerdist interview, was like watching a favorite band, I was anticipating the bits I loved best and having just as much fun. She's most definitely one of my favorite comics, and I am so happy I made the trip to see her.

    Brandi and Maria--Top Notch Entertainment!

by Aubreyleelou on 12/4/12Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

They were both equally hilarious and riveting. Brandi Carlile is, as always, stunning and brilliant both musically and comedy wise. This was my first time seeing Maria Bamford, and her impersonation of her mother is the funniest thing I've ever heard. I want to go see Wits infinity more times before I die!!!

    Disappointed

by Anonymous on 12/3/12Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

When initally purchasing these tickets the 'Ticketmaster' website made it look like it was a Brandi Carlile concert. Only later I found out it was a 'variety show' of some kind. Brandi only sang 3 songs, which are always excellent, and the remaining time was spent listening to random people 'try' to be funny. Maria held her own, but Brandi was the only true talent on stage that night. Not Impressed!
