Excellent show -- solid band with great guests. Marcia is an underrated keyboard talent, with a rollicking New Orleans boogie style, and she's amped up by the ever-exciting Cajun showman Simien. Cindy Cashdollar is one of the masters of the lap steel guitar, and brings an interesting new element to the instrumental mix. To have Sonny Landreth playing too, WOW, truly an "embarassment of riches", he being imo the god of the slide guitar. Pure heaven hearing Cindi and Sonny trading slide leads throughout the concert. And the sax guy is great too -- very melodic, pretty leads -- and solid drumming and bass backed up the band just right.
However, sound quality wasn't great, thus 4 stars instead of 5. Midrange-heavy, missing high end made lyrics hard to understand, weak lows made bassist hard to hear. We've heard near-perfect sound at this venue other times (in the Loge), so don't know if the problem is due to our being farther back this time (in the Balcony), or poor sound equipment/engineering. But even with these issues, we had a great time!
