About

Best known for producing innovative Christmas music albums, Mannheim Steamroller (the musical moniker for classically trained composer Chip Davis) has become one of the world's most influential and beloved instrumental acts. Of Mannheim Steamrollers' 36 million album sales, over 20 million of those sold have been Christmas albums--making Davis' music a holiday staple in many households worldwide. Davis started composing in a style he called "18th Century classical rock" in the mid '70s, recording the album Fresh Aire in 1975. The style--classical music played with electric bass and synthesizers--proved a little too novel for the mainstream market, so Davis created his own music label, American Gramaphone, and distributed his album to audio showrooms rather than record stores. His music became an instant hit with audiophiles (who frequented such showrooms) worldwide. Mainstream success finally came in the form of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, Davis' first holiday album, which surprised the music industry by selling over 5 million copies. This groundbreaking hybrid sound of classical rock would ultimately be the precursor to the phenomenally successful new age music movement.

    Had a great time

by Sue on 11/26/22ArcBest Corporation Performing Arts Center - Fort Smith - Fort Smith

We had a great time, and we really enjoyed the Mannheim Steamrollers. This was the 4th time I saw them, and wished they would take out Greensleeves, or update it. As it’s been in the last several seasons. Also, we discussed that it seemed like it needed more Christmas music, that we recognized.

    Magical

by Murti2789 on 11/26/22ArcBest Corporation Performing Arts Center - Fort Smith - Fort Smith

The show was magical and truly set the mood for the holidays! My only criticism is that we saw the same show ( pretty much the EXACT same shout several years ago)! With all of the Christmas albums MS has done, it would be nice if they changed up the shiw some from time to time.

I love the joy & passion that Becky shows as she leads her string section. She’s an amazing front person for the band…great job, Becky & Mannheim !!

    Good, but

by j on 11/20/22Five Flags Center - Dubuque

Third time seen Mannheim Steamroller, music is great! The troupe sent here performed the music well, but lacked showmanship - looked like they were going through the motions with no real lead musician shows in past were much better.

Wishing I Could Go Back in Time and Decide No!!

    by Boiler78 on 11/16/22

Attended the event in Appleton WI. Absolutely worst concert I have ever been too! Music sounded prerecorded, band was not engaging, videos were odd/creepy and outdated. We decided after spending $200 on tickets to cut out losses and leave at intermission. So disappointed!!

The first time I went it was great, but...

    by Founding Fan on 8/17/22

I have been a super fan of their Christmas music since the first CD. I LOVED the first Christmas concert I got to attend and couldn't wait for the next chance and the next. Each time is amazing, but I hoped they would change the program at some point. They have so many wonderful songs to choose from their playlist, yet they still take up a lot of the program with the same Medieval songs series and accompanying video. I would love to see a fresh coat of paint. The performance itself is transporting and a wonderful way to celebrate the season.

Their performance is amazing every time we have gone. The music and the background show always surpasses our expectations. We can't wait for their next Holiday Show. It truly completes our Christmas!

    MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER-LIVE!

by JZNELDA on 1/3/22Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

My first time to see them in concert. A fan of many years, and, a professional pianist, I would give anything to perform with them. It was SO much FUN watching THEM have FUN. Amazing musicians and astounding use of technology. Thank you for the BEST concert EVER!!

    Perfect evening!

by Lynnese on 1/1/22Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

Cant beat any concert at the Majestic theater! The only thing I would change is the parking garage that I paid with concert ticket could have been closer. Not a "high heel" friendly walk!

This was a great concert, I didn't expect the venue.

by Holly Jolly on 1/1/22Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

The Mannheim Steamroller concert was great. I enjoyed the 1st part more than the 2nd part. The movie that was done for the 2nd part music turned me off. The visual techniques that were part of the 1st part was terrific. The Majestic theater venue was so breathtaking.

    Holiday Spirit

by Paul T. on 12/31/21Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

I've been listening to the Manheim Steamroller Christmas for 35 years and this is my first experience to see them live. It was more than I imagined. I had tears during Silent Night and pure joy for the rest of the concert. I was blown away that each of the musicians played several other instruments all to perfection. I pray they continue their stop in San Antonio as my wife and I will make this a holiday priority. Thank you Chip and company. God bless.

    Pros & cons

by Tslande on 12/31/21Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

Too loud and unbalanced, too much marketing & self congratulation (we’ve been on all these shows!). Second half was great with complimentary visuals

    Outstanding performance

by Bob T on 12/31/21Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

Excellent and tight sound. It almost sounded pre recorded but was live. Great musicianship by one and all. We enjoyed it from start to finish.

    Needs large venue

by Cjgramma on 12/31/21Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

Beautiful music but the updated lights & theatre are C+ at best. Enjoyed their 2004 show so very much at the AT&T center I looked forward to seeing them again. The smaller venue does not do them justice.

    Less Christmas music

by Scottish Lass on 12/31/21Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

This was the fourth time we had seen Mannheim steamroller and were left disappointed. The music sounded different and there was much less Christmas music than at past concerts.
