MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER: CHRISTMAS IN CONCERT:

Mannheim Steamroller have been innovators of the neo-classical genre for over 40 years, blending the finest orchestral sections with electronic elements and a hint of rock to arrive at their remarkably unique sound. Not only are their live performances sonically robust, but they're visually stimulating as well, featuring an incredible light show and illustrations that dance across giant projection screens. Whether they're playing originals like "Catching Snowflakes on Your Tongue" or classics like "Joy to the World," Mannheim Steamroller will have fans in the holiday spirit this season on their 2014 Christmas tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Mannheim Steamroller is the alias of composer Chip Davis, who created the moniker from "Mannheim roller", a musical technique that was popular in Germany during the 1700s. Davis initially sought a record label to release his music, but the lack of interest led to the creation of his own label American Gramophone for his 1975 debut album Fresh Aire. He went on to release seven more albums in the Fresh Aire series, six of which were certified gold by the RIAA. His biggest success, however, came in 1984 with the release of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, a massive hit and enduring classic of contemporary holiday music. Since then, his Christmas catalog has grown to include thirteen records, containing some of Steamroller's biggest hits and holding the distinction of being some of the most requested Christmas music of all time.  With more than 28 million albums sold in the US, Mannheim Steamroller will carry their musical enthusiasm with them throughout their 2014 shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The band delivered from start to finish. What a wonderful way to get in the holiday spirit! Their musicianship is top notch and their performance is very entertaining."

"Great concert with remarkable renditions of Christmas music. They are a very professional ensemble that made the event enjoyable and memorable."

"I loved the Christmas concert!! The music, the video, and the interaction with the audience is amazing! I would definitely go see them again!"

  • BEST EVER MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE

by Big B on 12/25/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

The Green Team absolutely nailed every single note in this performance. It is a joy to hear the music exactly as it is in the studio, performed live! The Flautist and the Violin ladies seemed to really enjoy playing the music and their expressions added a lot. The bass guitar, keyboards, and drums/percussion were also perfect! To top it off, to see the beautiful videos that are really able to be enjoyed on a nice full screen, and the absolutely lovely and beautiful Orpheum theatre made the evening PERFECT!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

  • More Christmas please

by Jim on 12/25/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 3 out of 5

I thought this was a Christmas concert but there was a lot of other content we didn’t expect or connect with at all; I didn’t follow the videos behind the music most of the time. There was even a Dolphin!! Now in our family it will be forever known as the Christmas Dolphin… (But they did use rhe big gong on that one which was cool!)

  • Great show

by Reved1 on 12/25/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

Great show and music/musicians were outstanding. The songs were classics, but done in the Manheim Steamroller style. Wife and I really enjoyed the show. As usual the Orpheum Theater is beautiful and a great venue for the concert!

  • Idaho Falls concert

by Dave C. on 12/19/24Mountain America Center - Idaho FallsRating: 5 out of 5

I had never seen Mannheim Steamroller live before. Wonderful performance and the music quality was better than listening to a CD or Spotify.

  • A Wonderful Evening!

by Ricko on 12/18/24Mountain America Center - Idaho FallsRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing evening! The music of Mannheim Steamroller was spectacular. They are able to get such unique music out of the instruments. And their take on such well-known and loved music is very refreshing! The visual aspect really enhanced the music.

  • Amazing

by Janice on 12/18/24Mountain America Center - Idaho FallsRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing concert. We loved it! The personnel at the arena were so kind and helpful.

  • Fantastic music. Weird video accompaniment.

by SusanneS on 12/18/24Mountain America Center - Idaho FallsRating: 4 out of 5

The music was excellent! Band did a fine job. The videos were very distracting though and didn’t seem to relate to the music well. Would have much preferred up close streaming of the band members. Great to hear the drummer from Styx playing.

  • Great holiday family show!

by Zeke on 12/18/24Mountain America Center - Idaho FallsRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed this show! Been listening to Mannheim since I was a kid in the 90s. Would go again, but maybe without kids since they didn't appreciate the fact that the music contains no singing or lyrics. My only complaint is with sound mixing - one of the drum sets was too amplified on occasion and it took away from the rest of the song.

  • What a great concert.

by Fred on 12/18/24Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This is the fourth time that we have seen the Mannheim Steamroller concert. I can say it never gets old and the music is fantastic. The first show that we attended was better than 35 years ago at the memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The second and third show that we’ve seen was at the Embassy theater in Fort Wayne. It just puts you in the Christmas spirit.

  • Very talented musicians

by Drew on 12/18/24Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This show has always been fantastic. I saw them previously in Scottsdale. I did prefer that show over this past one. I did not care for the Fresh Aire pieces played. I still recommend Mannheim Steamroller as one of the best Christmas shows.

  • AMAZING

Great venue! Great show! Had a lot of fun. High energy. Could do it again.

  • Not at all what I expected

by MandyK on 12/18/24Mountain America Center - Idaho FallsRating: 1 out of 5

A few of the songs were great, ones that are played on the radio. The rest of the first half was bizarre. The videos they played were really strange and outdated. We left at intermission because it was awful. Would not recommend.

  • Excellent Concert

Beautifully spine-chilling,thrilling to the bone preciseness!

  • Dated

by Sarah on 12/18/24Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 1 out of 5

The show seemed very dated. The videos played with the music seemed odd and dated. Definitely not for me…
