MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER: CHRISTMAS IN CONCERT:

Mannheim Steamroller have been innovators of the neo-classical genre for over 40 years, blending the finest orchestral sections with electronic elements and a hint of rock to arrive at their remarkably unique sound. Not only are their live performances sonically robust, but they're visually stimulating as well, featuring an incredible light show and illustrations that dance across giant projection screens. Whether they're playing originals like "Catching Snowflakes on Your Tongue" or classics like "Joy to the World," Mannheim Steamroller will have fans in the holiday spirit this season on their 2014 Christmas tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Mannheim Steamroller is the alias of composer Chip Davis, who created the moniker from "Mannheim roller", a musical technique that was popular in Germany during the 1700s. Davis initially sought a record label to release his music, but the lack of interest led to the creation of his own label American Gramophone for his 1975 debut album Fresh Aire. He went on to release seven more albums in the Fresh Aire series, six of which were certified gold by the RIAA. His biggest success, however, came in 1984 with the release of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, a massive hit and enduring classic of contemporary holiday music. Since then, his Christmas catalog has grown to include thirteen records, containing some of Steamroller's biggest hits and holding the distinction of being some of the most requested Christmas music of all time.  With more than 28 million albums sold in the US, Mannheim Steamroller will carry their musical enthusiasm with them throughout their 2014 shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

  • Fabulous Mannheim Christmas

by lfleazar on 11/24/25DPAC - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

This must be at least the 6th or 7th time I have seen the Christmas show (over 15 years). It never fails to delight. The music is wonderful beyond words. Christmas starts with a big dose of Mannheim! My one point of contention with this performance is that I wish they had stuck to totally Christmas songs, they have plenty for the full show.

  • Timeless

Been going for over 20 years and still in awe. Maybe another 20

  • Might have liked in in 1978

Lumbering arrangements, outdated optics. Wasted my money.

  • Manheim Steamroller at DPAC was phenomenal!

by Kim on 11/24/25DPAC - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

The sound, energy, and signature holiday magic filled the entire venue from start to finish. The musicians were incredible, the visuals were gorgeous, and the whole performance felt warm, festive, and uplifting. DPAC was the perfect setting—great acoustics and smooth experience. A truly unforgettable show!

  • Mannheim

by Jt on 11/23/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful music. Every year I look forward to attending their concert. Even though most of the songs are the same year, they kick off the holiday season for me. There’s just something magical about their show.

  • The best Christmas concert

by Lizzie on 11/23/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

Mannheim Steamroller has always given the absolute best music, and the Christmas concert is beyond words awesome. The enthusiasm of the orchestra is contagious. I was thrilled to be at their concert. We remember when they first started in Omaha. They are a blessing to be shared.

  • We had a really good time.

by Scotr on 11/23/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

Really good show. Well put together. I am an 80s metal head, but this was much more enjoyable than TSO. Mannheim Steamroller was much more chill and relaxing. I would go again.

  • We feel cheated

by Two on 11/23/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 1 out of 5

Absolutely awful. Waste of time and money. It was hard to stay awake. From the prerecorded videos (vintage 1970s schmaltz), to the prerecorded music, uninspired, bored ‘orchestra’ it was tiresome. We almost left before first intermission but thought it has to get better…it didn’t, we left shortly thereafter. If you want inspired Christmas music go see Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

  • Festive

by AZlady on 11/23/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

What a wonderful evening of music! I've always loved their music, but it was so fun to see the performers in action! Every one if them- amazing! Definitely gets you in the mood for Christmas!

  • A great experience

by Sophie on 11/23/25ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 5 out of 5

We had to get ADA seats, since my granddaughter is in a wheelchair, and they were just past the pit seating, so right up front, and we could see every expression from the band, and watch all the instruments being played. They also had accompaniments on the screen to some of the songs, which followed along well. We even got snowed on! Kudos too to the Mannheim Steamroller Orchestra, they added so much to the group. I've seen them many times, and it's always a wonderful way to start the holiday season.

  • Up close and personal

Loved the smaller venue and the acoustics were fantastic. I would definitely see again.

  • Glad to finally get to see the in person.

The show was better the we thought it would be. Great start to the holiday season.

  • A Fantastic Christmas Concert Experience!

    by DVB2112 on 11/22/25Albany Civic Center - AlbanyRating: 5 out of 5

I had some reservations when the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas concert was moved from the Civic Center to the Albany Municipal Auditorium, especially regarding our seating. However, the Mannheim Steamroller management handled the transition flawlessly. They reassigned our seats with care, and my wife and I ended up extremely pleased with where we were placed. The performance was absolutely incredible. The music was fantastic from start to finish, and the presentation was everything you would hope for from a Mannheim Steamroller Christmas show. They played all the classic holiday favorites in that unmistakable Mannheim Steamroller style that makes the season feel truly special. Overall, the entire evening was a joy, and I could not be happier with the experience. I highly recommend seeing Mannheim Steamroller live if you get the chance. It is a holiday treat you will not forget!

  • NO SPECIAL EFFECTS

by Love albany on 11/22/25Albany Civic Center - AlbanyRating: 1 out of 5

I came for the special effects they use in the show ( lighting, Christmas trees, fireworks) there wasn’t ANY ( due to change of venue)…SAD and disappointed…
