MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER: CHRISTMAS IN CONCERT:

Mannheim Steamroller have been innovators of the neo-classical genre for over 40 years, blending the finest orchestral sections with electronic elements and a hint of rock to arrive at their remarkably unique sound. Not only are their live performances sonically robust, but they're visually stimulating as well, featuring an incredible light show and illustrations that dance across giant projection screens. Whether they're playing originals like "Catching Snowflakes on Your Tongue" or classics like "Joy to the World," Mannheim Steamroller will have fans in the holiday spirit this season on their 2014 Christmas tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Mannheim Steamroller is the alias of composer Chip Davis, who created the moniker from "Mannheim roller", a musical technique that was popular in Germany during the 1700s. Davis initially sought a record label to release his music, but the lack of interest led to the creation of his own label American Gramophone for his 1975 debut album Fresh Aire. He went on to release seven more albums in the Fresh Aire series, six of which were certified gold by the RIAA. His biggest success, however, came in 1984 with the release of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, a massive hit and enduring classic of contemporary holiday music. Since then, his Christmas catalog has grown to include thirteen records, containing some of Steamroller's biggest hits and holding the distinction of being some of the most requested Christmas music of all time.  With more than 28 million albums sold in the US, Mannheim Steamroller will carry their musical enthusiasm with them throughout their 2014 shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I loved the Christmas concert!! The music, the video, and the interaction with the audience is amazing! I would definitely go see them again!"

  • How to start the Christmas season

by REC on 11/26/25Savannah Civic Center - Johnny Mercer Theatre - SavannahRating: 5 out of 5

Every year I look forward to spending an afternoon with one of the best music groups playing their rendition of the songs of Christmas. It is not the normal arrangement you can hear on the radio, but an amazing composition that leaves you wanting more. As usual they did not disappoint. It is not just the flawless music they produce, but the excitement and enthusiasm in which they play.

  • Very poorly maintained theater

by Good but disappointed on 11/25/25Crown Theatre - FayettevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The music, light show, and visual graphics were excellent . The condition of the theater itself was far below what I would have expected for this quality performance. Cables down the main corridor held down with yellow tape, Really!!! The seats were disgusting, looked like they haven’t been cleaned in decades and multiple seats (mine included) had large holes worn in them. Very, very disappointing for the money spent . Only time I’ll go back to this theatre is after its headline states, “Newly renovated”

  • It Was Excellent

    by Boone55 on 11/25/25Crown Theatre - FayettevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The show was everything that we had hoped for. We have always enjoyed there music. But seeing them in person is something that we have always talked about. We were not disappointed.

  • Fantastic!

We have seen Mannheim Steamroller at least three times or more. They are fabulous. We took neighbors with us and they loved it too. Very talented performers. Can't wait till next time!

  • Mannheim is the best!

Go see them, you won't regret it We were also impressed with the parking and safety of the San Diego Civic Center..

  • Wonderful music by talented musicians!

by Steph on 11/25/25Crown Theatre - FayettevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful music by talented musicians! Video streaming in background was vintage only, so I didn't expect that, but it was nostalgic and personal, and lights were well-coordinated with sound.

  • Lovely moments of peace

by Unity on 11/25/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

While it wasn't as loud and as Extraordinary, as many of the other events I have enjoyed; however this unique music holds your attention. Often mixing more than one song with another it brings back memories of many wonderful holidays.

  • Needs a lot of work

    by Abit29 on 11/25/25Crown Theatre - FayettevilleRating: 1 out of 5

I went into this show excited to see it for the first time. We ended up leaving at intermission though because it was terrible. The videos played behind the screen were so old and need some serious updating. The musicians could play well and did a great job playing but they were so into themselves they didn’t do much engaging with the audience. It needs a lot of updating. I spent over $100 a ticket for this and it was a waste of money and time.

  • It was great

by Pam on 11/25/25Crown Theatre - FayettevilleRating: 5 out of 5

It was very beautiful and festive, loved it, love the lively moments of the performances

  • Weak, underwhelming, we left early.

by Mike on 11/25/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

Weak performance more like a high school band than what I expected. No depth, lots of shrill recorder and flute, not much percussion. No power or vigor, lackluster, sleepy performance. The musicians seemed as tired of it as we were.

  • Festive Evening

by Music lover on 11/25/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

Appreciated the talent of the musicians but wish there was more variety in the production. Would have enjoyed listening to more featured performances from individual musicians. Backdrop was distracting at times, and lighting effects not pleasing for the eyes. Left somewhat disappointed.

  • Great Fun but venue is dated

by Rick M on 11/25/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

My wife and I love this show. We go every year. This year I took my family. There were 10 of us. This was the first time seeing the show at the San Diego Civic Center Theater. Have to say it was somewhat disappointing. We had seats in the second row stage. Normally great seats. Not so in this theater. Those of us on the left had bright laser lights that kept flashing in our eyes. The sound was muted and the view was not the best. There is a point in the show where fake snow falls during the song. It is always a surprise and I made sure out two youngest were seated in the center so the snow would fall on them, as it has in every other performance. This theater effect was disappointing. The effect barely reached the end of the stage. I will say the view and sound were better in the center seats. But it still seemed the band was cramped and there was just not enough room. Having seen this show at a number of other venues I would travel the extra distance to see the show, rather than going back to this theater. All that being said, my family had a wonderful time as they had not seen the show at other venues. So, absolutely see this great show, but if you have an choice of venues, go there.

by Sweetcake on 11/25/25Crown Theatre - FayettevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Extremely talented musicians!! Loved the music and the presentation of each musician with their spotlight then to include others in the number. The way the music flowed with the projection display was impressive. Would definitely see them again!!!

  • Relaxing Enjoyment

by Sharon on 11/24/25Findlay Toyota Center - Prescott ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

Although we wish that I had selected a few rows higher (railing blocked part of view, my bad) my Sister and I enjoyed the music and the background enhancements. We are both very happy we went, and are still talking about it several weeks later 😁

  • Better then a CD
