MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER: CHRISTMAS IN CONCERT:

Mannheim Steamroller have been innovators of the neo-classical genre for over 40 years, blending the finest orchestral sections with electronic elements and a hint of rock to arrive at their remarkably unique sound. Not only are their live performances sonically robust, but they're visually stimulating as well, featuring an incredible light show and illustrations that dance across giant projection screens. Whether they're playing originals like "Catching Snowflakes on Your Tongue" or classics like "Joy to the World," Mannheim Steamroller will have fans in the holiday spirit this season on their 2014 Christmas tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Mannheim Steamroller is the alias of composer Chip Davis, who created the moniker from "Mannheim roller", a musical technique that was popular in Germany during the 1700s. Davis initially sought a record label to release his music, but the lack of interest led to the creation of his own label American Gramophone for his 1975 debut album Fresh Aire. He went on to release seven more albums in the Fresh Aire series, six of which were certified gold by the RIAA. His biggest success, however, came in 1984 with the release of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, a massive hit and enduring classic of contemporary holiday music. Since then, his Christmas catalog has grown to include thirteen records, containing some of Steamroller's biggest hits and holding the distinction of being some of the most requested Christmas music of all time.  With more than 28 million albums sold in the US, Mannheim Steamroller will carry their musical enthusiasm with them throughout their 2014 shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The band delivered from start to finish. What a wonderful way to get in the holiday spirit! Their musicianship is top notch and their performance is very entertaining."

"Great concert with remarkable renditions of Christmas music. They are a very professional ensemble that made the event enjoyable and memorable."

"I loved the Christmas concert!! The music, the video, and the interaction with the audience is amazing! I would definitely go see them again!"

by LM on 11/21/25Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was high energy, entertaining and well done. Loved that it was “snowing” when we left the theater! Unique for AZ!

by Great Show on 11/21/25Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

This is our second Manheim Steamroller concert. Changed up from the first and every bit as good. So much energy and sound coming from so few musicians. We enjoyed every minute.

  • Beautifully Happy

by Cindy Lou on 11/21/25Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

We took our 13 year old grandson and it was his first concert ever. He plays trumpet at school. We wanted to show him future possibilities with musical education. It hit home for sure! He loved it. He may have preferred to have gone to a rock concert with friends. However, the smile he radiated was real when we talked about the performance. Thank you MANHEIMM STEAMROLLER EXPRESS.

  • Great SHow

by Mizpo on 11/21/25Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

What a Great Show. This was one of the BEST shows I have seen. Now if we can get Trans Siberian Orchestra here, that would be awesome.

  • The concert was very good

by tom on 11/21/25Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

The venue needs some help, they have not upgraded the sound system or the seats ever, Centennial Hall is showing its age. It badly in need of an upgrade and has for many years. That is why we stopped buying season tickets to Broadway in Tucson. You would think they could put a little of the money back in to the Hall.

  • Great experience !!

by Michelle G on 11/21/25The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Great show!! Only thing that I will complain about is the parking!! 40.00 is a little outrageous

  • Wonderful¡

by Nancy on 11/20/25The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I had seen them twice before and I do enjoy them, my friend had never seen them, he really enjoyed them, and the both of us say amazing show.

  • It was so much fun!

by Arlene on 11/19/25Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - GainesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Some of the music was loud and exuberant and joyful. Some of it was calm and serene. All of it was wonderful. The musicians are amazingly talented and obviously love what they’re doing. The lighting and the scenes on the background screen added depth to the experience.

  • UF performance

by Jo on 11/19/25Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - GainesvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Mannheim were their usual excellence. The venue was not the best place for such an awesome orchestra. Not only would the accusedics not good acoustics not good, but the visual all around was extremely poor. It's a sports center and not worthy of Mannheim steamroller!!

  • Spectacular

by Rose on 11/19/25Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - GainesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Acoustics were exceptional for an arena. No seat was a bad seat. Staff was pleasant and helpful

  • O'CONNELL CENTER NOT FOR CONCERTS!

by CYNTHIA on 11/19/25Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - GainesvilleRating: 2 out of 5

I was skeptic because it was help on a Sunday night. Their audience are people a retired and don't drive at night. It was reflected in the poor attendance. The acoustics were awful and the video was laughable.

  • Music good, seating bad

by Joe on 11/19/25Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - GainesvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The music and presentation were very good. It was interesting to see how a group (13) of musicians could sound so much larger than they were. The only thing that took away from the show was the seating in the arena, it was worse than seating in economy class on an airplane

  • Great Show!

by Cheri on 11/19/25Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - GainesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We look forward to seeing this show every year and have attended almost every year in the past 20 years! They put on a great show! The music is amazing! As we get older, I just wish they would consider doing a matinee show because driving in the dark is getting challenging. We travel anywhere from 45 to 90 miles to see this show!

  • Awesome, Outstanding!!!

by Jon K on 11/19/25Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - GainesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Chip Davis back in late 90s, then last year the group in St Augustine and this time in Gainesville. I miss Chip but he has done an outstanding job of insuring the quality remains amazing and he has absolutely earned the right not to tour anymore! I love the Christmas tour but really wish they would do a "Fresh Aire"tour!! Even if they only did 1 show in VEGAS, LA, or New York I would absolutely travel for it! Please?? Also, back in the 90s the floor seats were actually tables and wine and cheese was served. THAT really made for a stellar date night surprise for the wife! Can we bring that back next year??

  • Great music. Poor venue

by Music to get the holiday season started on 11/19/25The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

The music was exactly what I expected. That’s a lot of music coming out of 15 people! Some of the background video was an odd choice. The Cosmo Chelsea venue was a disappointment. This theater does not have a tiered seating arrangement rather a flat floor. So the chairs they set out leave you looking at the heads of the people in front of you, no one on the stage and only the top third of the background video screen. It may have helped to scissor the seats so you could see more than one orchestra member at a time. I never saw most of the group without craning my head so I felt sorry for the people behind me. The music did not disappoint at all. This was just not the venue for the total visual of the orchestra, their background screen and their lighting show.. The lighting show for us was only visible on the ceiling. The preferred seats would have been the surrounding box seats on the side of the theater or at the very back of the theater.

  • Excellent musical performance

by Gavino on 11/18/25The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Overall good experience, the visuals could use an update. Mostly looked like old VHS copies from performances in the 1970s & 80s. I understand that's where the music came from, but an updated overhaul in the same spirit could be good.

  • Great Music

by Miss Diana on 11/18/25The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the music. The only Christmas album I have ever owned was theirs. Love the synthesized music. The percussionist was so much fun to watch. I'm sure she must lose weight with every performance. She is so energetic and obviously loving what she does. Other members of the orchestra were also energetic and love their jobs, But she was just fun to watch.. next time though I'll make sure I get a balcony seat instead of a floor seat.
